  1. Fun but effective... that would be Choco all over. Classic
  2. Don't know how many times i've made the suggestion to the war office that he would be "a great get for the Demons" and "he's sitting there being wasted (not for those players at the club obviously but in an AFL sense) at Werribee. I was keen on getting him in, along with Roos, as replacement for Neeld 8 years ago. Their loss, our massive gain. What a great get and a fabulous resourse / asset to have. So much experience to pass on and with a no nonsense, down to earth empathetic manner that i'm sure many of the players can relate to. Choco is a true blue footy legend and i couldn't be more thrilled to have this bloke at the club. Great get by the MFC. A big ty to whoever was responsible.
  3. BF FYI... China got wind of this thread and have since banned all tea imports to Australia, to remain in place unless/until this thread is taken down. They love the fact that he is skinny, a great aerialist and can kick goals. They call him the marking goaling Frittata and will have none of this trade talk. So there you have it. If it wasn't enough that our lobsters and coal have been left rotting & steaming away at the docks over all this covid crappa, old mate Picket has now ruined any chance i have of getting skinny again on a green tea diet!
  4. This is where the AFL's thinking is so out of touch. So at one minute to midnight prior to season starting, it introduces a hitherto untrialled sub. It is my understanding that initially it was supposed to be for concussion but then it was also ammended to cover all injuries? Then in it's wisdom, having many months to consider, it allows a delay to the start of the VFL comp. In many ways a feeder comp for many AFL clubs, where potential replacements for injured players are able to gain fitness and form, until week 6 of the AFL competition. While i am not surprised with such strange decision making by the AFL any longer is it just me that is perplexed at their ad hoc methods and strange management style?
  5. No recovery required. Get it done Goody...
  6. Weighted Average Scores up to & including Rnd 4 , 2021 vs 2019 Tracc & Big M moving up a few rungs after their performances on the weekend. Still a fair amount of daylight between Clarry and the rest after another solid game. Salem holding his own (just) in 2nd place after another sublime game. Lever jumps one place into 5th after one of his best performances since joining and Hunt on the improve into the top 10. The Cats are the real deal and no push over at any time. Impressive win yesterday. Time to turn our mind to the Hawks with our wily foe Clarko at the helm no doubt looking to serve up something different. 7. Absolutely 56. He was as valuable as Jimmy in terms of the role he played and impact on matches IMHO. Talk about white line fever.
  8. Hard as a cats head the old Seanis. Could play forward as a pinch hitter on odd occasions also. Did he hit a pack hard and was often the 3rd man up around the ground gaining extra yardage at the ball ins
  9. Jacko moved more like a well oiled slippery caboose though.... whereas Kozzie well you have to really watch him carefully as he is that quick and zippy. If you don't you are likely to miss it as it all happens in the blink of an eye. Mind you when you add 30 years plus a ****ty day with rain fogging glasses you weren't wearing back then, missing Kozzie is more likely.
  10. 2 goal assists & 7 score involvements today. Season averages.... Ranked equal second for Goal Assists on 0.75 alongside Tmac and behind Spargo who's in 1st posi with 1 per match. Sitting equal third for Score Involvements alongside Frittata on 6.75. Clarry second on 7.50 and Tracc sitting in first position on 8.50
  11. I got there at sledgehammer. Fair bit of acca dacca also but i feel thats a common thing at many openers now. I must admit the song selection was alot better today imv. Much more grunty and rocky making it feel more like a true home ground fortress up for the fight. Thunder struck was also played in full i think instead of the usual 15 seconds or so as they ran through the banner before the theme song started a few seasons back.
  12. From behind the goals there was only one player that looked likely to put any kind of pressure on the carrier running through the middle.... and then i realised it was a pair of chunky chunk legs i was watching coming towards me at a snails pace chasing ? But cudos to Jones who was still running his guts out to try and make a difference. Who knows the Geelong carrier who muffed the bounce may have felt the thunder from those big thighs stomping into the turf 10 meters or so behind! Good onya Chunk.
  13. Rnd 4, 2021 Manuka Oval - Demons vs Cats O'Conner was no match for Clarry today who still managed to shine under a full lockdown attempt. Lets look at some of his numbers.... 23 Effective disposals, 6 clearances, 3 rebounds, 9 inside 50s, 6 tackles (two of those inside 50), 10 score involvements, 3 intercepts and 474 meters gained. If Clarry could learn to hit the scoreboard once or twice (or occasionally higher) every other match or so he would be a bona fide AFL champ. Some other great results... Tracc was outstanding in many aspects with 22 effective disposals, 9 clearances, 8 inside 50s, 10 score involvements, 2 goals and lead the meters gained for us with 657 only bettered by Isaac Smith with 658. Not bad for an old fella eh. Tracc's only downside was a hefty turnover count of 8 . A pretty bad day is usually around 6 or more imho. Lever played an amazing rock/intercept role down back with 11 intercepts, 10 one percenters, 5 rebounds, 5 tackles, 4 score involvements and only 1 turnover. His decision making was first class and he got to so many contests i would say the best match i've witnessed live from him so far. Viney and Gawn were in everything. Viney with a massive 8 clearances, 5 inside 50s, 12 tackles (most for the day for both teams and the only player to hit double figures here including two inside 50), 2 intercepts and 354 meters gained. The big man....12 effectives, 7 clearances, 4 rebounds, 4 inside 50s, 4 tackles, 5 score involvements, 6 intercepts, 449 meters gained and a goal. Turnovers not so good however, with 6. Salem superb as the floater across HB with 11 intercepts, 2 contested marks, 8 rebounds and a massive 562 meters gained. Gus, Hunt and Ed were also very solid. One or two mucks along the way to be expected under such ugly conditions and pressure. Looking at Hunt he had 7 intercepts, 5 tackles, 4 score involvements and three inside 50s. Shout out also to LJ who i thought played a very serviceable game given the few he has under his belt. His tank / consistency seems to be growing slowly with each match. Tables show 10 players hitting a weighted score of 3 or higher, which is about 5 to 6 more players than most weeks last season. A score of 3 often, but not always, appearing to represent a good solid serviceable game usually with a few turnovers thrown in for good measure depending on the position played / role being asked on the day. For dedicated forwards something around the 2.25 is about par, given they usually have less opportunities to get their hands on it. 14. That's where a coach comes in and instructs to play to his strengths and away from his weaknesses Chook. It's called playing a role and staying within your strengths / capabilities / team game style and disciplines / structure. It's only when you step outside that and try to do too much you start trying to do things that are beyond your abilities and it ends up costing the team. He can cover that spot in the short term till May gets back, provided he plays to those instructions. The alternative option... bring an alternate in to cover, say Petty, allowing Tmac to continue in his present role?
  15. I would rather sacrifice Tmac to cover May till he returns with Daw coming in to play CHF/chop out ruck
  16. Just got home. What a crap Melb day....what a great Melb win!! You [censored] beauty Demons. Stuck it right up em! Club is on track we are finally back as a decent force to be reckoned with. Much work ahead. BB needed up forward ASAP. Will straighten us up and ensure we finish off the opp a lot quicker than we did today. GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!
  17. Some awful decision making / execution that quarter. The kick from outside 50 on the boundary from Chunk. Tmac's decision to play on. Jordan's decision to handball instead of taking the tackle at HF. Sprargo's inability to finish at goal earlier. The kick from Ed on the flank was woeful
  18. Mossie getting involved alot in the 2nd half of that quarter has set the pidgeon amongst the Cats!! Great stuff son...keep it coming
  19. One of the most disgraceful umpiring performances ive seen in that 5 minute period in the 2nd. We should have been running it up the field for a shot at goal instead he calls holding the man when it should've clearly been holding the ball. Two holding the balls that were 50/50 against us in our forward line against Frittata & Sparrow yet the Cats don't get called for similar and then get a reverse call instead. Faaark off Umps!
  20. Clarry just take the first option son....FM
  21. A chance to knock those puddy cats outta the eight tomorrow and put a decent gap between the top three and the rest. Let's go Demons!
