I think this was a case of Adelaide loading up their forwardline with talls, and us needing to cover them all. I don't care that MacDonald is in, after all, we recruited him for this exact reason, but I would have dropped Dunn for him, and left Gysberts in the side.

That is a bizarre list, given none of those players, bar Gysberts, play a similar role. At a stretch you could include Bruce, maybe Dunn, but Garland, Watts, Rivers and Miller as talls and Bartram as a small defender are in no competition with McKenzie for a spot. They have zero impact on whether he can/should/does get a game each week. I'm all for playing McKenzie every week, and I think that he is the perfect Junior replacement for the next 10 seasons (hopefully as a leader too), but if you're looking at team balance, you need to consider which of these players you wouldn't play ahead of McKenzie Scully, Trengove, Jones, Moloney, Sylvia, Davey, Morton, Gysberts, McDonald For mine, Jones and Moloney are the two who I think McKenzie will pass. Moloney might save himself long term if he becomes captain, but Jones could be the sort of borderline player who might struggle to play 22 games a season and become a permanent fixture in our midfield. Especially if/when Blease, Tapscott and Gysberts all become permanent fixtures.

Let's look at the positives. For one she is a REAL AFL follower, not a phony NSW/QLD resident who pretends to follow a team because they have to, and wouldn't know the difference between Barry Hall and Buddy Franklin. Secondly, she is a Doggies supporter so she'd be all for giving extra funding to struggling clubs who haven't won a flag in decades. And finally, and here is the big one, she does not barrack for either Carlton or Collingwood, because the one people less trustworthy than politicians, are Carlton/Collingwood supporters.

Nobody who played for Casey last week deserves a game, they were all terrible, with the exception of Daniel Bell who worked his butt off but who we know is not up to it. Not sure why they dropped Gysberts, granted he had a quiet game last week, but I'd still prefer him in the side ahead of all the possible Ins For mine, the final I/C should be: Jordie McKenzie, Jack Watts, Jamie Bennell, Kyle Cheney Don't mind if Dunn stays in for Cheney, but really Cheney has earnt a call up, despite being poor last week. Having said that, Adelaide have a number of talls, so it wouldn't surprise me if MacDonald plays. Good news re Bock being out too.

I hear the GC council is having a leadership vote tomorrow in a push to get him to take over the party. Meanwhile, to throw Melbourne off, our government has got in on the action and have deployed a distraction tactic by holding their own leadership vote. This will surely send us into such a tailspin that we won't only lose Ricky Petterd to the GC, we'll somehow end up with Nathan Ablett as compensation.

I think Freak is trying to build his credibility on the Petterd rumour by claiming he already knows of the house CG purchased for Ablett, thus making him a fountain of inside knowledge that should strike the fear of god into all of us.

I'm almost glad I had to have an operation on Thursday which prevented me from going to Williamstown as originally planned. Even through my drugged-haze that was horrendous. Although I do see more positives in Strauss than some. He is someone who will always look average at VFL level IMO because of a distinct lack of talented targets around him. Also I think Fitzpatrick showed a bit of touch for someone his size.

I'm getting annoyed at the turnovers. I know it's VFL but god it's frustrating. Strauss' kicking is like a beacon of light in a tunnel of garbage. Oh and PJ is an awful awful footballer.

Had my Saturday all planned around this game but had to have emergency surgery yesterday so those plans are out the door! Is the game being televised by any chance?

Poor kid, I wish him luck. That was second only in unpleasantness to breaking my knee. But he should be 100% right to go after the split round, which is the positive in all this.
