Harden up kid. If the worse thing an opposition supporter has on you, is that you barrack for an elitist club, you're doing alright. We should be proud of the fact that we are a club of educated snobs. Beats being associated with this

I'd rock one to the footy every week. Beats wearing a gurnsey *fashion crime*

I agree with that, but urgency can be drilled into you, talent can't. Some players are very laconic by nature. I think Garland is similar, but because he is a defender, he doesn't require the same sense of urgency to attack the contest, the contest comes to him. Watts has to develop the aggressive side of his game, he needs to go hunting for the ball and become more attacking. That sort of thing often comes with age, with realisation that your body is capable of handling your opponent and also with general maturity and confidence. Jamar and Frawley, who are both monsters and have always been fairly large, used to get lost in contests. Now they are both in the top bracket of their position amongst the competition. Not everyone is aggressive and intense from the moment they step on the field, some players need that side developed, and Watts is one of those players. I certainly don't see him as somebody who is scared of body contact, he hasn't consistently ducked out of contests or stayed away from the packs, but he also doesn't seem to have the inner belief to physically impose himself on matches. Being hammered in the media every week surely doesn't help either.

Love it, except for the bit where it looks like a school blazer. A bit of redesigning, with a simple embroidered MFC intertwined logo, and a thinner contrast binding (Ralph Lauren style), and I'm buying one!

If you get to post Katy Perry doing dubstep, I get to post the greatest parody of all times
-
I believe the time to tell me that this was about rock, was when I put up Whitney, no? Also, Katy Perry, really?! Only when drunk!
-
Quite excited that Adele won all the Grammy awards this year, instead of rubbish ho-bags like Katy Perry. At least one female on the planet struck gold from a crap relationship

To commemorate one of the greatest divas of all time, I present my favourite 80's hit. I have spent many a weekends getting drunk and dancing to this one. RIP Whitney! P.S.- some epic fashion choices in that video clip.

I think our premiership success does not depend on the happiness of Green, Davey, Rivers and Moloney. But we won't win a flag without Grimes, Trengove, Frawley and Garland. Footy is like any other competitive industry, people lose out, people get fired, and people have to put up with it. The players who are no longer in the leadership group have clearly done something wrong. Jones and Grimes made it through 2011 because they displayed outstanding leadership in tough times. The other 4, didn't.

Not exactly a music video as such, but Axis of Awesome are too good to miss. Plus it makes you realise how everything we listen to, essentially sounds the same. Also, you might recognise the song at 5:03

What I meant was, it's not "I'm about to hit a ball for the first time in two days, and I'm so exhausted I must screetch". For some reason their grunts seemed in direct correlation to their exhaustion level, as opposed to the women who just always strike me as yelling to distract their opponent from listening to the pace and drop of the ball. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.
-
Fair point, but at least they don't scream as soon as they hit a first serve. The men were battling hard out there. If they want to grunt occassionally, so be it. It doesn't really distract me to be honest.

I never said anything about the match not being great, or him not being a great player. I just dislike his attitude (and his super annoying girlfriend who needs to just sit the hell down), and I wanted Rafa to win. Rafa had to overcome a knee injury early on and still made it to the final, so credit to him too.

I couldn't stay up and watch it, given I had to be at work very early this morning, but I am devestated that Nadal lost to that arrogant [censored]. But, now that the tennis is over, we are only weeks away from the return of the only sport I truly care about!
-
I love an underdog and I DESPISE Djokovic, but if Murry wins tonight it'll be a miracle. Spewing I missed the match last night, although the outcome wasn't what I wanted. Will luckily be out, so will avoid the horror of watching the two squealers go at it tomorrow night. Let's just hope Azarenka wins. She is more tolerable than "I'm being raped by a pack of wolves on the court" Sherapova.
-
Agreed. As much as he irks me, I admire him for fighting every match out. He was clearly the lesser opponent yesterday, but he kept pushing his way through the game. I don't think he's ever been the best tennis player at any one time, but he got to number 1 and won the grand slams because he was mentally stronger than the other players. To push through injuries at his age (let's be honest, he is no spring chicken anymore, especially when he plays 24 year olds regularly), was good to see. Tomic has probably as much ability as Hewitt, but he is far too arrogant and mentally weak. Needs to change that if he's going to really succeed. Federer gave him a serious lesson, whereas Hewitt can walk away from last night with his head held up high.
-
Surprised nobody has bumped this up. I hate women's tennis at the best of times, but watching Sherapova play is akin to watching 2 hours of really slow, boring porn. A final between her and Azarenka will be unbearable! My tips for the win are Azarenka and Federer (really hedging my bets here )

Jason Reeves writes the sort of mellow, semi-depressing tunes I can listen to as background music all day while I try to contain my rage at work. Anything with a harder edge is too dangerous.

Such devastating news. I was so touched when I read his initial post, so to think he has now lost his battle is just horrible! My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends.

Demons offer Clarkson 5 year deal [2011]
Jaded No More replied to barpen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hard to see Clarkson leaving the Hawks at their peak. His premiership window is going to be open for the next 3-4 years if he can keep the list healthy. The only clincher of course is that Hawthorn won't give him 5 years, they probably won't give him 3. He'll get a standard 2 and maybe have an extension clause based on GF appearances. So he'll either back himself to succeed with Hawthorn again, or he'll chase the job security, which is nearly unheard of in this caper. For what it's worth he would be my number 1 pick and by a long way. He is exactly what we need and he is a brilliant tactical coach. I'm glad we are making massive bids too, great that we can finally afford to play with the big kids! This coach selection process could honestly make or break our premiership tilt, and is as important as our list building efforts of the past 3 seasons. -
Arts major I take it? Was always jealous of people who studied art at uni. They all seemed to have a life while I was lying in the fetal position pulling my hair out because I had so much work to do.

Year 12 History Revolutions? One of my favourite subjects at school. I killed it. Sadly I did not keep any of my work, it's not exactly relevant to what I'm doing now. Always remember, communism is perfect in theory but fails in reality because the world is not made up of idealistic people, least of all those preaching communistic theories.

Sure did! We actually ended up ordering nearly everything on the sampling/sharing menu, and it wasn't expensive at all (we did not have the pig thank you), and the atmosphere was great even though it was extremely busy. Probably one of my recent favourites, along with New Market in St Kilda which is more pricey but just as delicious (great cocktails too!)

Had dinner at George Koulambaris' new restaurant- St. Katherines tonight. Would highly recommend. I may have sweet talked my way to some free desserts from him too B)
