  1. I love a good priority pick as much as anyone, but today's game was one of only a handful where we actually had a chance of winning, so yes, I was very keen for a victory. It's nice for the young boys, and in fact for the whole team, to get a reward early in the season and a bit of a boost. It validates their hard work, and it gives supporters hope. From here on in, we have a very tough run of games and the possibility of winning before the mid-season break is slim. So enjoy today, and cherish it. It's going to be a long while before we get to celebrate another win.
  2. I love that we can barely hit a target by hand or by foot, but we manage to hit the post FOUR bloody times in a row. Amazing
  3. I'm sensing a theme, and I hear Chris Judd is dying for a groupie Many thanks.
  4. Thanks for the visual! Matty Whelan called and said he wants his ring back by the way Bennell's ball-on-a-shoestring display on the boundary had Andrew McLeod written all over it. Speeeeeeecial!
  5. Is that a "oh my god I want Bennell's babies" or "oh my god I want Bennell gone from the team"??
  6. Freudian slip? He has improved, no doubt, but it's been 5 years, so good on him for finally pulling the finger out. However, most can acknowledge that he won't make it, so a pat on the back and thanks for playing. Next.
  7. An out and out star, who I feel desperately sorry for. If I was him, I'd kill every single one of my teammates for constantly kicking the ball over his head, at his feet, or worse, ignoring his leads altogether. Richmond are woeful, but it is not just Terry Tan's fault. Their recruiting, their list management, their player development, and indeed their players have all failed massively. Once club cannot got every aspect of its on-field management wrong, and then blame it all on the coach. I hate Terry Wallace as much as the next guy, but he is just one chink in a massive chain of poo.
  8. I would classify Port Adelaide as a better (read: actually capable of not sucking) side. Finally the Davey-to-midfield experiment is starting to pay off. It looked like a lost cause by Round 2 this year, but something had obviously clicked and finally it's all starting to make sense.
  9. "You see that big wide hole in here, that's for Jack. Sure he isn't playing yet, but it's all about being competitively aware of the fact that when he comes into the team I want you all to [censored] off and give the great man his space. Start practicing now" Team song video is pure gold. Absolutely fantastic to see that passion. Brock's smile on the way to the change room says it all really.
  10. Fools gold indeed. Can take the odd mark here and there, but he played against rubbish today, and I saw him fluff at least one contest where he really should have gone in harder. Maybe that's just the way he goes about it, but he always seems like he couldn't care less about anything but his own performance. Lazy or bored, or maybe both? Will stay in the side for now, and hopefully we can pump up his tires a bit and maybe the Gold Coast will have a nibble in 2010? I should add that, to his credit, he has gotten a lot better with his defensive pressure.
  11. Agreed. He makes terrible decisions under pressure, and his disposal is bad both by hand and foot. On the upside he is very quick and a good shut-down player. Still, drop him and bring in Grimes. (And Maric in for Greeny)
  12. It's that type of injury where fitness is not an issue, it's more the confidence. He'll be a bit weary to begin with, as Jeff White was after his horrible injury, so we'll need to be patient with him.
  13. We should also make special mention of Warnock who, granted conceded 4 goals (plus the usual 5 behinds from Richo), but fought extremely hard and never dropped his head. Richo customarily rips us a new one, and without much help until the last quarter (when PJ floated in), I thought Warnock did really well to stop one of the best one-on-one markers in the competition. He's had two tough weeks, but he's stuck to the task and just kept going. Deserves some kudos for that!
  14. I know I shouldn't laugh at players getting injured, but WTF?!
  15. I love that he's a revelation because he is not as completely horrible as we thought he'd be! :D Come on, he is hardly a 'revelation', but at least he isn't an embarrassment either. Slow (although isn't he meant to be an elite athlete??), and his disposal is shocking by foot (HANDBALL AT ALL COSTS!), but he actually competes in the ruck as opposed to going down like a sack of [censored] and conceding the contest before the ball is even bounced. No way can he and Jamar play in the same team though, so either we teach PJ to ruck (good luck with that one), or hope that The Spence develops into a top ruckman, with Meesen as backup.
  16. Nobody feels sorry for us, why the hell should we feel sorry for them? This is a cut-throat industry, and as far as I'm concerned the more other clubs suffer the better it is for us. If you top-up your list with [censored] like McMahon, when your team can't even hit a target, you deserve to lose your job. Enjoy your tanning-bed, you'll be spending your retirement there Terry!
  17. So hard this week! 6- Miller 5- Davey 4- McLean 3- Martin 2- Frawley (had one shocking handball, so he loses a point ) 1- Jones Apologies to pretty much everyone else on our list. Dunn did a great shut-down job, Sylvia had one great quarter, Newton made me want to throw a shoe at him but he took some ripper marks, Bennell and Jetta had their moments, Rivers was great as always, Morton and Beamer worked super hard and broke the lines well, and OUR RUCKMEN actually stood up and contributed. Well done to PJ for bouncing back, and Meesen for proving he isn't the biggest trading mistake we've ever made (I'm looking at your Heffernan! :D)
  18. Shhhh! Yeah and I think only Bartram had a poor game disposal wise, otherwise nobody really stood out for horrendous errors (it was a team effort in that respect too )
  19. Rivers just loves to yell. He yells at his opponent, he yells at his teammates. Basically, if you [censored] him off, you'll cop it regardless of what side you're on. Gotta love him! :D But the best thing about today was that we won without: Robbo, Garland, Aussie, Grimes, Maric, Watts, Blease, Strauss and Jurrah, and they all make us a much better side. Not to mention we lost Green early, so we were one down for 3 quarters, and we played without our captain.
  20. It's been a while since we've had a Brad Miller thread. Just thought I'd start one up and pump up his tires a bit for what has been a good season for him so far. Yes, his goal kicking is dodgy (it's definitely a confidence thing!), but nobody works as hard as Miller. That he ran to the goal square in the last to punch the Tiger ball over the line was just a great example of how much work Miller does on and off the ball, which often goes unrewarded. In a good team, with better supply, and better forwards around him, Miller would easily be a 3-goals a game forward. That he is doing it anyway on his own, is an absolute credit to him. Well done Milsy!
  21. World's biggest tease. Played one sensational quarter then disappeared. Like Melbourne, needs to learn that a game goes for FOUR quarters, not one!
  22. Agreed 100% Greeny is not only brave, he is almost too brave at times. Hope he makes a speedy and full recovery!
  23. Thank you for the updates. Although I do think that people are getting a bit suspicious that I keep excusing myself to go the bathroom (so I can check my phone). Either they think I've drunk too much, or I have a drug problem
  24. As per usual, a Cameron Bruce thread has turned to poo. I think we've all had our say (some more than once!), now let's move on. In future, please refrain from turning Bruce threads into a Jerry Springer show. Thanks.
