Pick 43 has little to no value. Given all the recent publicity and the fact that he's going to the China tour, I highly doubt we'll let him go.

Yeah, I'd support her because she is a women and us feminists need to stick together Bev has been part of our club for a long time and is very passionate about Melbourne. She also has experience in the media. If she was elected by the board I would support her because I support anyone involved with this club. Of course if she was elected by the board it would be great, from my point of view, to have a woman in charge of an AFL club. It's an added bonus, but it does nothing to help her overall credentials.

Definitely agree with his assessment. He was stiff a few times this season, being dropped after a loss when realistically 21 other players were just as poor. He needs a sustained run in the seniors and he needs the confidence of his coach. Feeling like you belong is very important. I'm happy that he is staying put, especially given he was a F/S selection. You'd hate to just throw these kids away when they have such a good connection with the club.

We just signed Brock! :D http://melbournefc.com.au/Season2007/News/...px?newsId=52364

Where do we sign? They can definitely keep Shaw.

4th round or PSD sounds good, but you have to keep in mind that we don't want to burn our bridges with other clubs by screwing them over. I think a 3rd round pick for a player who has played a grand total of 2 matches is a fair deal, especially given that we could get him for nothing. We are basically doing Adelaide a favour by giving them anything. They should take it and run.

I'm all for women playing a bigger role in the AFL, but I think Gardner's experience in advertising and the media is very important to a club that is under-exposed at the best of times. Having said that, I'd definitely support Bev. It's about time women were taken seriously in this sport!

Ch.10 just said Kennedy is weighing up his options? West Coast have been well and truly ripped off. Now lets hope that Judd's groin ensures that Carlton too get ripped off!

Adelaide Crows pushing hard for Jared Rivers
Jaded No More replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
His stocks have not fallen, rather his importance has grown when we saw the state of our backline in his absence. He had a groin injury, it was operated on, and he is already up and running. I wouldn't trade Rivers for anything, not even Judd. KP defenders who can read the play and use the ball as well as Jared are worth their weight in gold and diamonds and oil. I can't see him ever leaving the club unless he categorically says he wants to return home... and if he does, I'll cry. It'll be worse than losing Thommo! -
So basically we've got 3 pages of posts, 70% of them based on fantasies made up by Yze_Magic, with the other 30% based on some comments made in the media? Ugh, trade week is an absolute yawn-fest of the highest order!!!

Did the rumour come with a possible explanation for the resignation?

I wasn't a fan of "run and carry", I was a fan of trying new thing. I thought it was silly trying to implement a new game plan on the MCG, but I could see the merit in taking this sort of plan interstate. Wonder if things would have been different had we had a full team available for the majority of the season. For the love of god, let it go!

Where's the "get over it" option?

I have to agree, and isn't it just great that FINALLY, our 3 most important players happen to be young, mentally focused and most importantly, can be trusted to put in week in week out? We've waited a long time for this, and as I've said for a while, when these boys (Bate, Bell, Dunn, Sylvia, etc etc...) become our core group of players and leaders, we'll finally see a real change in this club. Thankfully we have a new coach who can see that, and who will hopefully devote most of his energy to developing these guys and getting as much experience into them as possible. We have a very good, and balanced, group of under 23's. We have a range of smalls, talls, midfielders, defenders and forwards, which is something that not a lot of clubs have. We've done really well with the draft in the last few years, picking up great kids with early picks, and with picks as late as 60. If we manage to get another first round pick and draft well this year, there is no reason why we can't set up a team for 5+ years. Also, Rivers is a gun!

Geelong- premiers- pick 17 (because of the priority picks) Port- runners up- pick 16 Kangaroos- prelim exit - pick 15 Collingwood- prelim exit- pick 14 Collingwood DO have pick 14!

Might have something to do with the fact that nobody, not even Melbourne supporters, are putting money on us to win the flag next year. I'm sure if Princess Judy decided to grace us with her presence, that we'd be right up there in the betting.
-
We won't get 2 first round picks, we'll barely get one the way things are looking. If Bailey thinks TJ is more harm than good, we'll offload him for a lesser price. It all depends how seriously Bailey is about discarding him.
-
Holland has a year left, if that. If we trade Carroll, we need to get a ready-made replacement. Brown could be someone we can look at. We won't be upgrading skills, or defensive ability, but clearly that is not why we're putting Carroll's name on the table...
-
We really are desperate to get rid of TJ, aren't we? I'd hope we can get something better for him, but it seems unlikely.

Something to make your blood boil ...
Jaded No More replied to classy dees's topic in Melbourne Demons
As supporters we may not care what people think of our club, but public perception is very important in such a competitive industry. It's important for sponsors, membership numbers and media exposure, which means it's important for our cash flow and bank balance. But then, we probably shouldn't start this argument all over again. We're seen as a loser, insignificant club, and as passionate supporters we have every right to be [censored] off about it. -
Rivers and Bell, dominating, in the same backline... *drools*

Maybe. Green was never a ball-hungry player IMO. He wasn't going hard at the contest when he first started, but was a more opportunistic player (as most medium forwards are). This is not a character flaw, it's just part of a learning curve. When he was pushed into the midfield he had to learn to put his body in the contest. I'm sure he'd admit that he needed to learn to do that, it wasn't an in-built thing like it might be for Brock or was for Godfrey. I think that CJ's biggest problem is lack of confidence. He doesn't believe that he belongs, which combined with being dropped every second week, makes for a very unsure player.
-
HAHA! He's so unhappy that he's going to China next week with a group of young players on some sort of a leadership tour. FFS, these journalists are getting worse and worse! Chris Heffernan > Kepler Bradley Please stop trading with Essendon, PLEASE!
-
Green. He is now one of the first players to go dive on the football. A few years ago, he wouldn't go near it.

*Cue Dean Bailey abuse*
