GAME DAY at Alice Springs - Round 9

Absolutely disgusting, pathetic quarter. Just totally wilted. I hope Roosy smashes them in the rooms - definitely deserve it. -

WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF -
This thread was always bound for glory... I just want to say that Toump was impressive on the weekend, and I truly hope he continues to produce the goods and prove the haterz wrong.
-
Probably too top heavy having Gawn and Spencer in the same side. Hopefully Viney is fit and Jetta the other in. Those outs are probably fair.
-
- Need more from Toumpas like that. - Pedersen is a player who absolutely gets the best from himself, great competitor. - Hogan. - Keep Howe up forward. - Spencer looks more unorthodox than anyone I've seen, but can be surprisingly effective. Not our future though.
-
Spencer hits up Pedersen on a lead. Has the world gone crazy?

I heard the players and all staff are having a party during the week. WYL is supplying the gatorade. -

At that stage he cared far more than many of the others. But you are right, he hasn't exactly done a whole lot since. I still have faith in Jimmy... I think there's a good player in him but perhaps my faith is there because there is no other option. -

That was definitely a rumour about Cook, not Toumpas. I think Toumpas cried on the ground after a really poor performance two years ago, and he was given the red vest. At least it showed he cared about the way he'd been playing. -
Yes, let's rotate the captaincy every six months. If there is someone out on that field worthy of leading the team, it is Nathan Jones.
-
Or signing our own young stars.

Someone could at least run through Langford for me. He really just has one of those faces...

This is actually like Groundhog Day. Disgusting.

Petracca is a midfielder, not a CHF. That's crazy talk. -
Fix the Midfield and we'll rise very quickly!
Little Richard replied to PaulRB's topic in Melbourne Demons
A ruckman is a huge problem for us. When we play better midfields, with ruckmen who are better than our own (which is essentially always), it's like a game of keepings off. Our midfielders just can't get their hands on the ball and the opposition win clearance after clearance. -
Can't blame him if that's the case. Some might call it petty but at that point it was a dream to play AFL footy and sounds as though we really shafted him... and ourselves. Wouldn't blame him at all if that was a reason for not entertaining our offers (even though different people are in charge now).

Going by that article, this seems like absolute crapola. An total non-issue. Some of the comments on facebook in recent years regarding the Northern Football League in Melbourne would melt your eyes compared to that stuff, and I haven't heard about guys missing games because of that. Wouldn't happen, so shouldn't happen with the girls.

Wowee, controversial username. RE Hannebery, would love to have him. It might just be the rise of Parker though, but has he dropped off a little in the last couple of years?- 33 replies

Have to agree. Not enough of him has been seen yet to warrant the excitement by some. In fact, it seems like he's getting the love that many of our high draft picks have received in the past...

Just saw that article entitled 'We Expect to Beat Hawks: Dawes'. I think we are a chance but I'm not sure this was a good move. Something like that could easily motivate the Hawks to put us back in our place, so to speak, and make Saturday very painful. Fingers crossed Dawes follows up on his article and clunks a few marks for once.

Call me crazy but I still have faith in Toumpas. So far, he isn't what we should have got with a pick 4. However, against Sydney I saw some promising signs. Adding to that, his body looks far more mature this season and the knocks on his toughness were wrong, IMO. One thing you'll always get with him is good disposal efficiency, but he needs to find more of the ball. No longer hoping for a star, but I still think he can become a solid contributor to the 22.
