  1. Highly rated as a youngster but I must admit I haven't paid much attention to his career so far. Stats according to footywire aren't too bad for a developing player, could be worth a punt for a later pick if the Lions will entertain it.
  2. If I were a recruiter, I wouldn't be keen to trade for a defender who has seen his best years, and a guy who has had FOUR knee reconstructions. Nek minnit, 'bloke at work' is Damien Barrett.
  3. If they couldn't make more of an effort for Jones' 200th, I doubt they will this week. Having said that, I think we're a fair chance. Our mediocre first quarters will be less costly against GWS compared with Fremantle.
  4. Quite different. Saying he is a big part of the future could mean anything really... 'the future' is contained within his current contract. Saying that he will be at the club for a long time to come is another thing altogether and insinuates that he'll be signing a long term contract. Anyway, Paul said to look for the positives, so I'm taking this to mean he'll be signing a 7 year extension.
  5. I think having Frost back, allowing Dunn to be the third defender, will make him look a lot better. Still don't mind him as a player and his 2014 was very good but he can do some very dumb things. Always has a crack though.
  6. Don't expect to see them at the club next year. Thanks for all the hard work Crossy!
  7. I think he tries to give his best, but cannot because of mental limitations. Hopefully this deal will help him build his confidence in himself and be the best possible player he can be.
  8. I don't think we would have been stupid enough to base our drafting strategy on what another club does/says. We just got it wrong.
  9. Quality player. Should be in the mix for us, with a number of others.
  10. Of course, he's leading the league in assists. Shows how valuable he is to them. Staying there, with consistent finals on the horizon would have been much more alluring than making the move to the doldrums.
  11. As well as their side's impressive form. Don't blame him.
  12. There are plenty of examples we could use, but the fact is that his output at the moment is not up to standard. His first year was better - just has to lift back to that level and beyond next season. Some of his attributes are very good. I really hope he makes it - seems like a top guy.
  13. I think Hawkins had similar issues tbh. He was very ordinary for a long time. Having said that, hard to relate a KPF to a midfielder in terms of development. I still think Jimmy can be a good player, or at least a solid contributor. Just needs to get it right in his own mind. Then the improvement can be rapid. Fingers crossed that he isn't just going to languish on the list for another couple of years.
  14. It seems to be the problem of many posters on here, not Jimmy.
  15. Cross yes, but Lumumba has been very underwhelming thus far. I think he'll step up next year and feel more comfortable in the side and with the game plan.
  16. In the context of our drafting in the past decade, 2013 has been a blinding success.
  17. I often fall into this thinking, but there is no denying that we are improving. Very slowly, and in often agonising fashion. We have more wins this year, are statistically much better in a number of fields and are taking it to teams we only could have dreamed of getting close to in past years. There is clearly a serious issue with our starts in the past month. But I take a little encouragement out of the fact that in the last 3 quarters we've almost come even with some very good sides, including WBD and Freo. It doesn't mean much when we still lost those games by significant margins, but there is a little bit of improvement there. And I'll cling to that as long as I can, because the door isn't big enough for both Rose and I and it's cold.
  18. I think Cross was looking likely from earlier on but Vince and Tyson were out of the blue. I want more of that this year!
  19. You'd hope so. Our list definitely has more upside.
  20. Pedersen has been good the last couple of seasons in that role, ever since he found his hands. Can take a grab and works hard.
  21. I don't mind where he goes, as long as it's not Richmond. Adding Treloar to their midfield will probably give them that last bit of oomph they need to make it into the top 4 next season and be a serious contender. Please no.
  22. Paul would really appreciate this post. Finally looking at the positives!
  23. I think in this case WYL is probably referring to the will to compete, be better etc. I hope and believe we've truly passed the 'choir boy' phase.
