  1. Also people tend to forget that as Gold Coast was a completely clean slate, the players could bond as a team without any previous cliques or issues between players, as most had never played with each other before which is a huge advantage.
  2. Gold Coast have quality senior players to teach the young guys and to lead. We don't have enough of them and most aren't good enough anyway. Lack of experienced leadership is a huge problem.
  3. Yep, not a great tactic in terms of recruiting. How the hell are we supposed to keep players like Chip and Garland when Neeld is spouting crap like that? I know it is probably true but he should have just kept his mouth shut.
  4. All this talk about taking him in the PSD relies on the assumption that Prestia wants to come to Melbourne, and that is a big assumption...
  5. Rivers was a huge loss but there was nothing that could be done. It was clear that even if Bomber Thompson had taken over there'd be little chance for Riv to taste some success at the Dees and I don't blame him for going. Really hurts the experience and leadership though, I always thought he'd make a good captain.
  6. Hard to beat Cook though... no senior games and struggler in VFL ressies. Doesn't get much worse than that!
  7. The fact that Moloney had done what he could at the club and that it was time to move on is hardly loving Neeld. It was a correct decision that was made under him and there are plenty of mistakes he has made, but this was not one.
  8. Garry should keep his nose out of it. Either stay out of it completely or come in and show some accountability. He has to stop drifting in and out of the club as a 'messiah'.
  9. Clearly he wasn't doing it for us so why does it matter? He'd still be languishing away at Casey because he (quote from him) 'didn't have faith in Neeld and felt that Neeld didn't have faith in him'. I'd say his ego was probably too big... you can't have a player who is bigger than the coach. Just move on.
  10. Because it's our club mate. The players might be lucky to be there for 5 years, while we are supporting it for our whole lives. Without us the club would die.
  11. Footy players never seem to drink beer anymore. On Facebook with Sylvia and Moloney it's always cruisers...
  12. Strauss for sub. Davey has earnt a full game in the pocket and if Magner doesn't get the full game I'll throw a rock through the office windows!
  13. There is irony in the thread title. I thought Dempsey was a 'footballer', not a 'football'.
  14. I can't begin to imagine the analogies when we play Hawthorn. Some serious latent sexual repression here
  15. This is the optimism I can't help but feel every week, until my hopes are dashed to pieces.
  16. Yep that is a good statement because it is a base, something on which to build. Saying we will be the hardest team to play against sets the bar extremely high straight away, and surprise surprise we are now the easiest team to play against.
  17. The MFC's biggest weakness is supporters who encourage mediocrity
  18. He pretty much said words to these effect when he came in. It's after 18 months in making the club his that he isn't willing to be honest, isn't willing to fault HIS own work.
  19. I like all of that except the last part, make it 2037 and I'll believe you.
  20. No thankyou, I'd rather we hold onto potentially our first superstar in a long time.
  21. A former diehard supporter who hates seeing the Dees in the shite and might want to help out? It's not impossible.
  22. Cale Morton... I'd lean towards Dunstan at this stage but Billings will still be a gun, I just don't like his chances of putting on kilos at Melbourne.
  23. Billings absolutely smashed the championships last year as a bottom age player. Only question is his size, he is pretty slight.
