Making way - The list enigma going forward

I wonder whether either or both of Lamumba and Dawes will retire due to injuries. -

Name change required. Hereafter should be known as Cubic Zirconia Joe. -
When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?

A challenge for the rest of the season: When did we last go through a season without losing three games in a row? -
Jack Watts signs for three years (21/7/16)

There are worse performed number 1 picks than Josh Fraser. Try Richard Lounder, for example. That's a task that won't take up much time. How many players are left from when he took over? And of that group, how many are actually playing regular senior games? -
Given Bruce is recorded as 197cm, Reiwoldt 193 and Membrey as 188, I doubt Tom McDonald will play on Membrey. I would have thought it's more likely that T McDonald and Frost will share duties on Reiwoldt and Bruce with one of the medium sized defenders, such as Wagner, White or Garland getting Membrey. Of course, if Oscar plays, other options arise.

2 Home Games a Year in NT for 2017 & 2018
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have driverless cars and we put a man on the moon more than 40 years ago. Is it too much to ask for software to be developed that automatically transfers slanging matches between Stuie and SWYL into a thread of their own invisible to the rest of us? -
2 Home Games a Year in NT for 2017 & 2018
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wish it was as simple to work out why we've lost an additional 18-20 games a year in the same period. I think blaming losses on games being played interstate is just hiding the awful truth. -
Is there any suggestion that Dean Kent may be injured? I note from the AFL website stats that he supposedly spent 70% of match time on the ground, lower than everyone other than Oscar McDonald (with 63%). I was expecting younger players such as Stretch, Petracca and Hunt to have lower numbers but they spent 75%, 87% and 83% of time on the ground respectively. Kent can't have been off the ground for playing poorly - because when he was on he played well. Does anyone know why Kent spent such a comparatively low amount of time on the ground?

Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination

That's too easy. AFL Head Office should make its PR machine find a way to explain how Jayden Hunt has a solid multicultural background. That's a challenge worth paying them for. -

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 16

I like your maths. Hunt comes seventh with eight players named ahead of him. -
Seriously? Having said that, even if he were a shadow of his former self, he would still be a serious threat.

Vince was clearly struggling with a sore lower leg. Hopefully it won't keep him out though. The only player who was really poor tonight was Garlett, so I can't see why anyone would be dropped for poor form. However, if players need a rest, I could understand changes being made.

6. T McDonald 5. Gawn 4. Hogan 3. Watts 2, Jetta 1. Viney -
I haven't seen Matt Jones listed in the "Outs" this week. I assume the author of the OP will show appropriate humility and respect for M Jones by apologising at the first opportunity after he plays on Saturday.

One game on Sunday, not on free to air
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Bluey's Dad's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think Channel 7 understands the concept of business sustainability. -
Not sure I agree. Oscar is just 20; Frost is nearly 23. Oscar has yet to fully develop his body; Frost has a much stronger physique. I don't know if either will make it, but Frost strikes me as an athlete first (and a very good one) who needs to improve his skills (which aren't good) whereas Oscar is a footballer who needs to develop his body. Whether Frost can improve his skills as much as Oscar his body will, I think, determine which of the two becomes the better asset.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 15
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Believe it or not, Dawes. Not because he's a better mark, but because if my life depended on it I expect Dawes to care more and try harder than Dunn. I may be completely wrong in this assessment, but I'm not convinced that Dunn appreciates as much as he should the importance of being a team player. So, if my life depended on it, I'm not sure Dunn would be trying as hard as he should. On the other hand, I think Dawes cannot be faulted in that regard. -

I always knew he was top-shelf talent, but didn't realise he was aristocracy. -
Before he was drafted I thought he was a sparky, not a chippy. Maybe I'm confusing him with somebody else.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 15
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks all - much appreciated. In a few years time it will be interesting to compare the three BGS boys from that year (Kelly, Salem, Hunt) to see who's had the best career. That must have been a seriously good Year 12 team. -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 15
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was unable to watch or listen to the game. Can someone explain what Hunt did that made his 14-possession and 3 tackles game so good? I'm not disputing the assessment - just trying to understand it.
