POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 15
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Or he's told to take risks which might sometimes work (in which case the risk-taking isn't really noticed because the game has moved on). -

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 15
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think that's correct. Didn't we beat Port there a few years ago? -
Either you meant "commend" or you have more influence than I thought.
-
Care to elaborate? I didn't have a chance to see or hear the game so I'd like to know why you think his career might be over. To post as you have is somewhat simplistic. Or, to put it another way, are there any other toys you want to throw out of the cot while you're at it?

I wonder how much value from a sponsorship point of view members really are? I would have thought the real value is eyeballs watching games, particularly on TV. If we want to grow sponsorship dollars I suspect we need more games on free-to-air TV and on premium timeslots (ie, Friday and Saturday nights). That's not to say members are not important - I'm just not sure the actual number of members is necessarily relevant to sponsorship discussions.

THE BOMBERS' SWISS ADVENTURE
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
You can mount a case regarding draft picks; but the issue of superior time slots correlates with popularity, not integrity. Unless the AFL stands up to Channel 7 and mandates that less popular teams should get more premium timeslots, then Essendon as a team with a large following will continue to get better timeslots than we will. The issue of premium slots is important but shouldn't be confused with the integrity issue resulting from Essendon's misbehaviour. Or, to be more precise, the AFL needs to address the issue holistically and not just with respect to Essendon. -
Hullett's definitely there. From MFC twitter: Melbourne FC @melbournefc 15m15 minutes ago COMMUNITY: @angusbrayshaw_ and @LiamHulett27 with the students at Yipirinya School.

The Day of the Demon is coming says Warren Tredrea
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I sometimes wonder whether one of the KPIs used to measure Paul Roos' performance is the degree of optimism espoused by Old Dee. -

Glad to see Baker and Rolls in the same team. Makes sense. -
The Day of the Demon is coming says Warren Tredrea
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's more than a mere coincidence - Tredrea is paid to write fluff for Adelaide (the city) readers. Hence he primarily finds something that has a link to the Crows or Port. That's his job. -
Roos has just given a press conference and said that Jetta and Tyson will play; Oliver won't because of his corked thigh and the 6 day break; Trengove and Dawes are close, but won't play this week.

The first line in this post puts Demonland at risk of being sued by Caroline Wilson for defamation.

AFL need to look into Rhys Mathieson!
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
And he's also not "cheating". He's playing the game as allowed by the rules. If he was "cheating" he would be penalised. I would prefer the rules to be changed so the tactic he has successfully employed (along with other players) is not rewarded with a free kick. It should just be play on and if the player tackled disposes of the ball incorrectly, or not at all, a free kick should be paid against him. -
Just trying to piece things together...Matt Jones has a back injury. Elsewhere (but perhaps not officially) I've read he has had a "dislocated rib". Should we infer that his damaged rib is at the back?

Far be it for me to defend the media, but many clubs restrict access so much it becomes impossible for the media to provide us with better information. I notice that the photos included pixelation of what was presumably sensitive information (the so-called 'IP') on the whiteboard and other walls so there's a bit more to it than just allowing the media unrestricted access to everything they want.

Don't forget even a stopped clock is right twice a day. -
It's not for me to judge. But can he spell DNA?

Christian Petracca - Rising Star
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Older demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petracca's physical shape reminds me a lot of Leigh Matthews. A solid torso and tree-trunk legs made Matthews almost impossible to knock over. Petracca looks to have a similar shape. If he can be as successful as Matthews as a player (individually and with respect to team success) we're all going to be very happy. -
Can anyone explain how the Collective Bargaining Agreement (also called the CBA or EBA) and individual contracts work together? Does the CBA provide minimum requirements which must be built in to each player's contract? Or does an individual contract supersede the CBA? I wonder sometimes about the amount of huff and puff which goes into CBA negotiations (at least, how much the media claim is occurring) when I'm not even sure of its relevance.

He's just playing to the audience. Given Richmond supporters seem to be a mix of bikies, psychos and the illiterate, he has to provide hope to the hopeless.

CASEY SCORPIONS v BOX HILL HAWKS
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know what you mean, but if we're being truthful, most of the games were over before they even started. -
Whereas "Jeez" is a perfectly sensible, appropriate and literary word to use.

CASEY SCORPIONS v BOX HILL HAWKS
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
We really were frighteningly bad in 2013. It's such a pleasure to go to games now and, win or lose, at least know we belong in the AFL. -
I assume you mean Norman.
