  1. Literally two posts apart. For what it's worth, I don't like the Wildcard Round idea, but if we're going to have it, I don't mind it being "sold" to the city or cities that provide the best offers. I'm convinced that no team playing in Wildcard round will go all the way, anyway, so what's the harm in monetising what would otherwise be a pointless activity?
  2. I haven't got time to find it now, but there is some famous customer loyalty research from Motorola, probably from about 40 years ago (maybe longer) which showed that customers will stick with a company with products that don't quite work as wanted as long as the company that makes the product has a first-class help service. It's the model that many companies, such as Ford Motor Co, have subsequently adopted. If our club shows that it can make mistakes, but provides first-class service to our footballing families in all other regards, I think we'll come out of this stronger overall.
  3. What's the potential legal action? Who would be suing whom? I can't see how litigation arises from this.
  4. Let's recognise that the purpose appears to have been for the players' partners to meet for the first time (albeit online) with senior figures at the club. That would appear to be a very positive undertaking. The topic that should not have been discussed in the way that it was would, I suggest, have taken no more than a couple of minutes out of what we are told was a 20 minute call. There was no problem raising the absence of Steven May - but the club should just have made clear it was a personal matter and left it at that. So, let's focus on the positive - the club spoke to the players' partners. They didn't have to, but they did, and that's good. The remainer of the discussion, which would have been most of the time on that call, apparently hasn't raised any other issues of concern (we can assume the complainant would have mentioned other matters if there were any). It's also a positive that the club has recognised the error and apologised for it. That's also good. I think it's a minor story which will be likely be superseded very quickly. Sure, The Agenda Setters might try to breathe oxygen into it, but a dead story remains dead, however hard you try CPR.
  5. You don't see the coach as being the key for each of the dot points you've mentioned?
  6. "lack of injuries"?
  7. I believe the game that Viney used to play under Goodwin is no longer relevant. But I could see a role for him when he returns. As good as Tholstrup has been in the tagging role, I could see Viney being given this responsibility with Tholstrup freed up to be either a half-back flanker or genuine midfielder. This says more about how much improvement I've seen in Tholstrup this year than any concerns I might have about Viney's future.
  8. Answers my question (above). Thanks. It's a very interesting analysis. I look forward to hearing how the media manage to either interpret or mis-interpret it.
  9. Just seeking a point of clarification: The definition of "ball speed" here is percentage of time the team played on after a mark or free kick? Is that right? It's not, for example, measuring literally how quickly the ball moves by having it in the hands of the fastest runners? Or, perhaps, dividing the metres gained by the time taken to gain those metres (which I think would be a fascinating measure)?
  10. Got back to Gosch's? That implies you left before the session was over. Who gave you permission to leave before the job is completed? Anyone would think you're a Carlton supporter. NB: For the avoidance of any doubt it seems prudent given other comments in this thread to point out that this post is sarcasm. It might not be particularly witty, but let me re-state - it's an attempt at sarcasm.
  11. Hey Little Goffy...you're not a school teacher, are you? It's like you've been correcting people's homework!
  12. I have much more faith in Demonlanders than the AFL (in so many things). The AFL report includes as the second-named player in our best as Mihocek. At least they had Kossie as first-named.
  13. Is she limited to three words?
  14. (6) K Pickett (5) Sparrow (4) Gawn (3) Steele (2) Lever (1) Chandler
  15. Laurie has shown he's not a small forward. His best form at Casey has been as a midfielder. So, if he comes in for anyone, it should be to replace a midfielder, not a small forward.
  16. If AMW plays, this might mean TMac doesn't. It may depend on what Carlton's forward line is expected to be. Do they play two or three tall forwards?
  17. Back of the envelope calculations suggest we've played about 162 games in the last 7 years (7 x 23 H&A, plus 7(?) finals, minus 6 missing COVID-year games). So, that's 150 out of a possible 163 (including this week). While my numbers might not be precise, it's close enough to show how resilient he has been.
  18. Excluded from WorkCover while playing? What about training -both on the field and in the gym/pool, etc - and the standard non-football related workplace injuries? Also, WorkCover is Victoria's workplace insurer. Is it the same in all other States and Territories?
  19. Interesting approach! Apologies for the flippancy - it's a great thread you've started. I'm not expecting much this year as it's clearly going to be the first of a couple of years of transition as a new coach changes both the style of play and the personnel. While I believe Melksham and McDonald can still be good contributors, I'd prefer it if we were playing those likely to be around in 2028 which is when I next expect we'll be in the window to challenge the good teams.
  20. Tricky thread, this one. It feels that posters are being forced to take a position that's either pro-Kane Cornes or pro-umpires.
  21. I hope that's a typo and you mean "can't win". I'm not fussed about who we play from week to week. It's more about getting games into the young talent so by this time in 2028 we are a formidable team to play against.
  22. Wow. Geelong has taken the non-compete clause to a whole new level!
  23. Was he specifically talking about changes to the playing group or other changes, such as changes to the Board and management?
  24. I'm not sure whether it's a club or Ticketmaster problem, but the website for membership management is dreadful. It's impossible by using the website alone to know whether one's membership is paid up or not. The system should be so much simpler. Also, I don't know if anyone else had this problem, but the renewal process doesn't work online either. It just sends you into a useless circular loop. On the plus side, when I renewed a few weeks ago, I called the club and it was done quickly and simply. But I shouldn't have had to do it that way.
