Looophole identified. Well done.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. I suspect there'll be criticism of over-officiating by umpires initially, but if this speeds up the game as intended, it may have the result of stopping flooding. Teams may well have to ensure they keep a couple of defenders well back to stop the breakaway forward movement from having a free run at goal. Nevertheless, I would prefer to see this rule change tested properly before it is introduced.

Alex Neal-Bullen Awarded Scholarship
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Dame Gaga's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hope all is OK, SWYL. It's appropriate to mention it in this thread but kudos for not playing the "I'm disabled card" previously. PS: I hope the above doesn't come across as condescending or inappropriate. Written with the best of intentions. -
Agree. Plus I expect a seventh forward on the bench. I would imagine ANB would be the choice for his defensive pressure.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MAJAK DAW
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do you mean that the scheme provides for the club that offers the invitation to train to have first priority through the AFL's process or do you mean the player has a moral responsibilty to sign with the club rather than another suitor? -

Or St Kilda, now that their No 1 ruckman, Marshall, is out injured, although they still do have the aging and injury-prone Ryder and McKernan on their books. -

For people who understand these things, is the muscle definition that Daw shows in any way linked to aerobic fitness? In other words, should his physical appearance give us confidence that he's aerobically fit? -
The story suffers from a lack of comment from the AFL to explain the changes. If Foxfooty didn't ask the AFL for comment, it's shoddy work. If the AFL was asked to comment and didn't do so, that's exceedingly poor PR and gross mismanagement of the issue. I might be mistaken, but I can't help but view some of the comments from the nine clubs as thinly disguised misogyny.

The Footy Impact of Victoria's Lockdown

Lockdown ends tonight. I expect detailed reports of Friday's training. No excuses. -

I'm not sure S Burgoyne was "discarded", so: Exhibit 3: Bernie Vince -
I remain unconvinced that the club would make money from a social club.

I'm conscious that your main issue is the process. However, your views of Peter Lawrence can't be found in this thread. Are they somewhere else or has the deep state now sanitised this thread?
-
Interesting food for thought. I notice, though, that you made no comment about Peter Lawrence's candidacy even though you worked with him. Should we draw any conclusions from that omission?
-
I don't remember the exact language used, but is it possible that the club meant 4 weeks from the beginning of the season proper?

The Footy Impact of Victoria's Lockdown
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry, Luci, I didn't mean to upset you. I'm just disappointed that my training reports fix for Monday and Wednesday won't be sated. -
As everyone in Victoria knows, we're in lockdown. For football, I believe that means club's can only train in 10-person groups until the lockdown ends (supposedly on Wednesday, but who knows...). For Demonland, I expect this means no training reports as I doubt travelling to Casey is one of the four accepted reasons for leaving home and it's probably only within 5 km for very few Demonlanders anyway. But some perspective is necessary. No training reports is a small price to pay if the lockdown stops the spead of Covid. But I'm still going to miss them.

La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
A question about the process...does a player have to be training with us to be eligible for selection? Or could we select anyone we like, such as a player training with another club or someone not even training with an AFL club at all? -

Are you saying that a person who makes good money from his or her occupation cannot also be subjected to racism? Why else mention "his $$"? -

I think the opposite. All the content you identify as being drafted by the player I see as being written by a professional writer. But I agree with you that none of it changes what this topic is or should be about.
