  1. Not sure, but I think it's safe to say that whoever he's been coaching, the demons are always on the other side.
  2. Seriously disadvantaged.
  3. Yeah...nah. I still remember a game at the MCG when he forgot to take his tracksuit top off when running on to the ground from the interchange bench. This would have been back in the days when interchange players waited a long time for their turn so kept jackets on to stay warm. He ran on about 20 metres, realised and returned quickly to the bench to discard the unnecessary garment.
  4. Not sure why this ended up as a "Quote". Software glitch? Or perhaps user error.
  5. Concussions can be caused by whiplash. Maybe the knock to the chest caused concussion that way? I'm just stirring the pot. Surely we don't have to keep reminding posters that everyone lies in the AFL? It's the second language of football (after gobbledygook).
  6. I think I'm wrong. The 12th day after the 9th is the 20th. (Of course, irrespectivce of the number of days, he shouldn't play if he still has any symptoms, whatever the date).
  7. The article says, "Under the new guidelines, the earliest that a player can return to play after a concussion is on the 12th day after the day on which the concussion was sustained." I think that means he's out until 12 days after the 9th, being the day after the concussion occurred which would mean he's out until the 21st.
  8. Love this expression. It suggests there is a type of pace which isn't genuine.
  9. Is that it for Declase (and Farmer)? Or can they continue to train with us hoping to be picked up at the next opportunity, which I assume is the mid-season draft?
  10. Nonsense. All it shows is that Goodwin knows how to take the pressure off players by lowering supporter's expectations.
  11. Daw wasn't considered good enough by any of the 18 teams until we threw him a lifeline today. Hopefully he'll never play a game for us. I say that not because I dislike him, but if he's getting a game, that means we have too many injuries and/or McDonald and Jackson aren't playing as well as they are capable.
  12. How ironic that the phrase "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" was first expressed by the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Different spelling, so I assume no relation of Aaron Nietschke.
  13. Not quite. He hasn't played another AFL game just yet. But at least he's given himself the opportunity to do so.
  14. The AFL would ignore its own rules and give special permission for Matthew Febey to play one of the Febey roles. Who would win? Neither. It's the MFC after all and somehow both sides would find a way to lose.
  15. If only we could find a way to take today's defence and combine it with the 2000 forward line.
  16. It's off topic, but to clear the record, the two pieces of legislation to enable the casino and poker machines into Victoria were both introduced by Joan Kirner.
  17. I believe today is the final day for selections to be added to club lists via the pre-season supplemental selection process. Good luck to Majak, Kobe, Deakyn, Kye (and Oscar). (I've just noticed that you apparently needed an unusual first name which includes the letter 'k' if you wanted to be considered for a spot on the MFC list through this process.)
  18. Wish this were true.
  19. Basic rule of pre-season: Results and form are only relevant if you win.
  20. As daisycutter has pointed out, the figures are back-to-front. Greenvale to Casey was 70 minutes; Greenvale to Linton St was 51 minutes. Doesn't change my opinion that McKernan and Daw are both horribly inconsistent. Apologies all. (And I can't edit my original post).
  21. I can't believe that these games are still being played with "supergoals" (not that there have been any in this game). What's the point of that?
  22. It is being called by SEN (at least, on their app). The dulcet tones of Andy Maher...
  23. Thank goodness the typo was in the first word, not either of the next two!
  24. Get well soon, or at least by 6.00 pm
  25. Congratulations to both Jake Niall and Mark Robinson for not using the old cliche "there's no 'I' in team". I'm a bit worried, though, that "park the ego" has become its replacement.
