What about Gary Ayers? He was mentioned a few posts ago on this thread by somebody. We keep mentioning the same people who might or might not want us then everybody starts on about assistant coaches as that is a rule or something. What about Gary Ayers, he has coached AFL teams to losing grand finals, been continually coaching till now in the VFL and doing a great job there. He played footy as a tough nut but then did Barmly, but he has done wonders at port and how many flags has he got[i dont know]. At the moment port are unbeaten as a stand alone side, maybe just maybe we need to pull a rabbit out of the hat and go to somebody like Gary Ayers. Please comment.

Last saturaday before the game while we were waiting to take the banner out CS happened along. He seemed happy enough, cracking a few jokes and being generally his upbeat self. He didnt give any other impression than he was looking forward to a good game of footy. He had no knives hanging out of his back pocket, only spoke positively about the club and the up coming game.

Why do you think I wear his number on my back, a few more like him and the care factor might be a bit higher. He had a few laughs when he signed the photo on the avatar. Jordie wouldnt be out of place inside that building in another time, why, because he always gives his all. He dosnt always win his battles but he is in the next contest just as hard.

But the little league won 9.3 to nothing. Number 14 was pretty good, should have debut in the seniors, maybe they all should have stayed on after half time. THEY OUT SCORED THE SENIORS!

Went. Stayed to the end. We tanked for that rubbish. The team should have to earn the right to wear the red and blue, not today they didnt. Cant say anything about the team as we didnt have one. On a lighter note the Dees little league won 9.3 to zip, they should have stayed on they scored more. Please oh please no light bodies or wait till next year when they have more games in them, If that is the basis of our future team god help us INSIPED!

People keep saying its the coaches fault or it isnt its the players. Here is something Bailey could have addressed! Straight after half time our resting ruckman Jamar stayed on the pine for 6.55 min. resting from an exhausting half time break. What did Haw. do in the same 6.55 Min ? They played their resting ruckman up forward, in the same 6.55 Min they took 5 marks and kicked 2 gaols 2 points and an out of bounds on the full. Boy Jamar must of had an exhausting half time break to need the extra break time. As Wellington said of Napoleon he keeps coming the same old way and we keep beating him the same old way. If you are playing MFC the next week dont bother sending a scout to watch our game because nothing changes we keep doing the same old things the same old way.

As far as I understand what is going on with who met who and when, and who signed what. At the moment[ until Oct 31] Scully cant sign with anybody uther than MFC. This whole GWS thing is only if after that date they offer him a contract. Who says they will offer him one? I wouldnt if I was them, as I have said before I dont believe they are in anyway interested in him, all smoke and mirrors. We [members] are looking at it the wrong way round, we are looking from a MFC stand point. I suggest we look at it from the GWS viewpoint. GWS are the suns on time delay[12 months], what formed suns will form gws. They need experienced big bodies, not 20 year old future stars, and they need them now! Sylvia, Warnock and Bate would all be a good start, cheaper, experienced and able to mix it at AFL level next year not years down the track. I am not saying those players are better than Scully might become but they are what is needed now.

Here is one for everybody to get their mind around, if a player is tackled legally but gets up really dazed and has to be helped from the ground, 30 seconds before half time. Will the tackler get reported and suspended? What happens if it the last round and they are scheduled to meet the next week in the finals? A very good way to get rid of the opposition. The tackled player gets to play the next week[ the Dangerfield rule] and the tackler gets outed, how many times can you do that in a game and how many opposition can you wipe out for the next week in the finals? It has happened that you can play the same team twice in two weeks. MFC played haw in 1991 or 1992 and we beat them both weeks.

Ricky tried all night and was rewarded with a great mark, to be placed in his highlights reel. Does anybody else think his kicking has suffered a bit, lost a couple of meters when kicking for goal? For me 2 things came out of last night, all the team must be very young because they didnt give a yelp for Sean and second they want a pay rise for that crap!

Its no wonder Jordie is such a great tackler, look at the avatar to see him going to a bit of summer training. I pity the lions .

Besides what I have written on the Scully topic before, I dont think he will go for another reason. Everybody talks about Scully being single minded about what he wanted out of his life. FOOTBALL. He I believe has an obsession with this life. I think in his mind he wants and is aiming at holding up the cup on GF day, wearing the medal and also being the reighning brownlow medalist as the MFC captain. He wants the lot and his life up till now has been aimed at this. The money would be good at GWS but wont be bad at MFC either. He has one shot at this in his life and he wouldnt get the shot in his playing lifetime at GWS. Does anybody think GWS would be good enough in the next 10 years for him to achieve this. Too many great players dont have a GF medal, listen to Gary Lyon on this subject sometime. Arrange a job for him a la cris judd, and promise him the captancy when Brad goes, not a bad shot at your lifes ambition.

Two years ago my family said Bailey has to go, but I said give him time. MFC always has enough time, its always next year or the year after. And it still is. All Bailey seems able to do is lose well, he has that down pat, two years ago he lost a year called tanking, I hated that surrender of our footy club and now its called damage control, or not losing by all that much. How must our young players think when they see their coach wave the white flag from the initial bounce. Boy he really showed confidence in his team and their ability. And if the cry is get games into the young players, why wasnt Gawn selected 2 weeks ago instead of Newton. Max is the ruckman going forward isnt he? I know that Max proberly isnt really ready yet but comes the time comes the player. Is Newton the future? God I hope not! From the start of the year except the initial games in Adelaide all our practise games were crap. I know they were only practise games and not for points, but we now play how we practised, so we are consistant if nothing else. Players are out, good players, but that shouldnt stop us having a go, a really good dip at the opposition. How angry I now am at what the surrender of our club has resulted in, a complete lack of good old fashioned heart and go at the opposition. Ill stop now as I start to think once again of the lack of morial fibre that tanking was and now its offshoot limited losses.

For a start I dont think Scully will go to GWS as I said before on this thread. Now I am just amazed at the people here who dont think GWS being able to take Scully is fair. Well its not fair BUT its the rules folks, and how many of you wanted and enthused about tanking to get him. That was just the rules too. If he goes what did barracking against the mighty DEES get you? Humble pie? I doubt it, but I will say it again so you all cant accuse me of wanting him to go. I dont want him to go and I also dont think he will. MAYBE what goes round comes round!

I have said this before on this sight, I dont even think GWS is even interested in Scully. Just my opinion nothing else. Take a look at GWS that is the suns 12 months ago, the suns went for mature big bodied players. Lets be honest here Scully AT PRESENT is an inexperienced, lightweight, midfielder. He is good dont get me wrong, ha IS good, but he has to develop his body a tad more. They have lightweight mids by the bucketload, they dont need anymore. Silvia is the one from MFC I would be chasing. What the VFL taught the suns last year was the need of some big bodies. Millar kicked double figures on the suns, MILLAR they couldnt handle the strong body.

How about somebody, a premiership (many) backman, coached a couple of AFL teams . Still in the coaching arena, Garry Ayers?

For what its worth, I dont think GWS is even interested in Scully. They wont say so as its all a smokescreen to confuse other teams. The reason I dont think their after Scully as he is the wrong TYPE of player. GWS is only the suns on a 12 month time delay, the rules,draft concessions and salary cap are all roughly the same. After a year in the VFL what TYPE did they draft, mature bodies to give the bucket load of Scully body types time to mature. If I was the MFC I would be trying all out to sign Sylvia, the body and playing type the suns went after. NOTE: I AM NOT SAYING SCULLY ISNT ANY GOOD, what I am saying is I THINK he dosnt fit the body type I believe they will go for.
