  1. Just reading on 'Inside Football' big headline DEMONS : GO GET LETHAL . It further says ' Clubs no longer fear the sight of the Demon Guernsey, and the trip to the MCG to play Melbourne no longer worries any side.' It goes on to say 'Melbourne need to throw away their conservative tag and become ruthless in their approach like other successful sides.' Later they say ' Poor Melbourne everybody is treating them like a bit of a joke.' Sound familiar, the Inside football issue is dated July 13 1978. Nothing much changes does it?
  2. Jobe Watson admitted to taking AOD 863 [or what ever its called] but said he didn't know it was a banned substance. Leaving aside that excuse, after all ignorance is no excuse. All he had to do is look it up on his mobile phone, all younger people are addicted to them. Here is the real serious part for the EFC and I havnt seen this mentioned anywhere, that drug was removed from sale by the drug company as it was found to be not fit for human consumption. Drug companies don't remove drugs from sale lightly as its cost many, many millions to develop. The reason it was unfit for human consumption was a large % of its lab mice developed a cancer. If in the future a portion of the EFC players develop a cancer its off to the lawyers for them. No insurance company will cover the payout if the EFC is found guilty of using a banned substance. That is the real dilemma for them, the real cost in dollars, not now in prem. points. They wont win the GF this year anyway. All jobe had to do was look at his bit of noisey plastic in his pocket. After all how many younger EFC players went along with the program because Jobe did, their captain.
  3. After watching the geelong game today, and seeing them slow and very ungeelong like in the last qtr. I wondered if the game last week in the very wet and heavy conditions affected them? They had one more day to recover and wernt a rotation down as MFC was. Did we fade in the last qtr in part as a result of last weeks game? Just a question that had me wondering after watching geelong!
  4. Here we go again. 1. I wont forget. 2. I wont forgive the people who wanted to take my club away from me and become hawks. 3 As I have said before on this subject, I was there and asked whats his name a question from the floor, the first question of the night . 4 I got there early before 6 and we were subjected to over and hour of club crap on the screen. ALL PRO MERGER. In all that time do you know what they didn't play , Yep you got it right they never once played not ONCE the club song. I suppose if you are a traitor you don't want to be reminded of what you are betraying. 5 Where does this crap about swallowing hawthorn come from? 6 Look no further than the make up of the NEW board, 7 hawthorn members 5 MFC members 2 mcc members and the pres nominated by the mcc with hawthorn having a veto on the selection. No say by the MFC on the election of the Melbourne Hawks Pres. ALL 15 members have full voting rights. DO THE SUMS we were getting gobbled up not them. 7 I still have all the papers sent to members by both sides [ I collect throwaway items like that, I even have 2 proxy forms where you can only give your proxy to whats his name.
  5. Went to the footy yesterday on the D train. 11.13 am train from Pakenham. What a great idea and trip in it was. The Casey Demons, MFC and Metro should all be congratulated on the idea and carrying out of the day. We arrived at the station to see many of the staff, the buglar, face painting and a balloon person. When the train arrived the staff hung the first two carriages with red and blue balloons up popped the ruckle more passengers arrived and we were off. All the seating was taken by the time we got to Dandenong. Red and blue everywhere, free chockies, year books and car stickers. The little kids loved it and the not so little ones too. By the time we got to Richmond there wasn't even any standing room either, and many Dees supporters were in other carriages as well. Great day, great idea cant wait to the next one. I was told they will have more carriages for the Dees on the next one. Well done to all concerned.
  6. This might sound stupid even illegal, why do we have to go off at half time? Why cant we just slowly jog round the boundary for the duration. Its obvious what Mark Neeld is saying at half time isnt working , so stay out there.
  7. Heres how I see it, one side wants to keep the status quo and give the board a chance to do its thing. The other side wants to fire everybody. Now I am only an ingnorant 25yr member, but can someone from either side explain to me how in our 6th year of rebuilding, umteen coaches, more plains than the allies on dday we can only kick TWO second half goals in two games and concede 22 in the same time frame. Arnt we supposed to be better this year than last year? Isnt that the plan! Wasnt that what we were told? How far do we have to go back before we go forward? We dont have much % left to play with. Having been to every home and away game in Vic in those 25 years bar one[ wifes grandmothers 100 birthday party] do you think it would be too much to ask for more than TWO BLOODY GOALS.
  8. I have waited till now to say my piece, I was too angry with the team to be rational. For 25 yrs I have been a member even though my family couldnt afford it, particularly early on. Yesterday was a different year same crap! We at this sight make all sort of excuses for the players, its only preseason the games dont count, as long as we dont get injuries. We only played one bad quarter, we were missing most of our team, wait till the real season comes round we will smash them. WRONG!!!! Winning is everything, winning teaches winning, winning creates culture and most of all winning wins RESPECT. After the tanking saga winning needs to happen for members, supporters and sponsors. It keeps the media onside and if you think that dosnt matter look how essendon have managed their drama, much better than us. If you want to beat the DEES on the ground all you have to do is RUN cos we sure dont. The rubbish shoveled up yesterday was the same as the last 10 yrs of shoveling. We have learnt nothing, nothing. Sure its only round 1 but it was a winnable game against a team in roughly the same position as us, and with a very few exceptions we were served up the same crap. To me the only pluses out of the game were, a stellar game from Viney, a contest from Clark, Jamar round the ground got more of it and the run in the last qtr of Bleese. He ran in straight lines and dared the port players to have a go. I didnt boo the players off and I stayed to the very end as I always do, but I can see why other supporters do otherwise. Yesterday was worse than 186 as it meant more and was against weaker opposition and at home.
  9. You want to upset collingwood supporters? Just tell them you dont hate any team especially the new teams, eagles, gws, bears, collingwood or essendon, after all we let them play our game. They love to be hated so take that away from them ,they go ballistic especially when you call them a new team.
  10. This year we dont seem to have too many on the injury list. But the ones there are key players, how many will we have for rd 1? Clarke, dawes, trengove, viney, frawley, t. mcdonald, blease. All missing now, will they be ready? If not when, going into a season with these key players not out on the park means big problems. Unlike some teams we cant carry key players out for very long.
  11. At the game on Saturday and we looked different for most of the game except for that 12 minutes in the second quarter when it was business as usual. Short inaccurate kicking, handballing 2 metres to someone, anyone just to get rid of the ball. St. Kilda looked more polished, because they were! They got their goals easier and ran the ball cleaner. But saying that we had a go and didn't get overwhelmed and fought back well to contain the damage of the 12 minute lapse. I don't think we could have come back like that last year. Rodan gives us grunt and zip in the mid field should do well this year.
  12. I am 62 years old. Started barracking for the DEES in 1971, chose to barrack for them, didnt inherit them from my family. Been a member since 1988, wear a number 13 jumper every week to the footy, wore it round Europe in 2010, proud of being an DEES supporter, correction was proud of being a supporter, now just embarrassed to be one. Watch John Longmire kick 12 on us one day, saw Jimmy cross the mark, watched Alister Clarkson in his first game at North kick the winning goal with the last kick of the day. Was against the merger and tanking and still am both. BUT I have never been EMBARRASSED by the DEES up until now. It was a spineless effort no read spineless jog by the majority of wearers of the jumper yesterday. But me being a stupid old bugger will be there along with my jumper barracking for the DEES again, just goes to show what a glution for punishment I am. That was the most spinless display I have seen from the DEES and I was at Geelong last year for the thrashing.
  13. Sort of, they answered that the signing was nearly done and they were waiting for the final signature, just crossing the ttttts. But my real point is GO AND ASK. dont just sit in front of a keyboard and bleat!
  14. In the early 90s Essendon and Carlton player a preseason practice match and the proceedes went to collingwood. Their finances were shot, they lost money with a soccer team and on an ex school they bought. It just shows you that the wheel turns. Sounds like a soap opera.
  15. In answer to those people who think the AGM is a joke, and the hard questions wont get answered. I have a suggestion go along and ask them, you might be suprised. After all its very hard for the board to answer questions that havnt been asked! There were only two people who got up and asked questions, I know, I was one of them. I asked the question regarding FOJ .sponsorship. You will never find out what you want to know if you dont ask. Its an old method but it works for me!
  16. Has anybody else heard on the radio the new advertising for our two venues? Last week on Magic radio[i am an oldie] there were several ads for the Bentleigh club everyday, this week its the Leighoak getting the ads, is this a new direction from the club, are they getting more into the market place? Has anybody else heard these ads on any other radio stations?
  17. In answer to Nuggets report on Sheedy saying they have 12500 members, check out gws web site. Sheeds is only slightly out, they report a membership tally of.......... WAIT FOR IT.......... 456 YES boys and girls Australia now has 456 certified idiots.
  18. How about Patrick Rose from Port Melbourne! Small forward who kicked 79 yes 79 goals this year. If any player in the under 18 kicked that many most people would be creaming their jeans over him. HOW many did Patton kick this year? Now we have 1 possibility 2 big talls in the forward line it cries out for a class small forward. Rookie him, the last small we got from Port if I remember right was Davey, not a bad pick up.
  19. Maybe with Clark down there it gives our mids a getout kick. Geelong used this often, when they were under extreme pressure they just kicked long into the forward line and hoped. The getout kick ability gives the mids a bit more confidence as they can under pressure roost it instead of going round in ever decreasing handball circles. With a big body in the forward line comes confidence and worries for the opposition defence. Having Clark gives us a couple of extra bodies down there as all the forwards move down a defender.
  20. Patrick Rose from Port Melb for me, draft him with a second round pick next month. Rose should do well off of Mitch Clack forward line pressure, and has shown he knows where the gaols are. Played all the way through the VFL finals series with AFL listed backmen hanging off him.
  21. Patrick Rose from Port Melbourne, small forward, kicked 75+ gaols this year, can mark and finds the ball well. Would be worth a third round pick to knab him?
  22. Just watched the VFL grand final, posters on here were right, Gary Ayers cant coach. Has no hope of any AFL future, cant get the best out of his players. One word in answer to that. Crap! Watch the game, see the effort he gets see the pressure, hard at the ball and the opposition. a stand alone club week after week playing against aligned clubs with stacked sides. 2011....... Every game a winner. Lets see Malthouse or anybody else do that. Mighty effort by ALL involved. Hope to see some of the players drafted, some good small forwards there.
  23. First, I didnt think gws would sign whats his name. I didnt think they would be that stupid, just another now very rich slight body with suspect knees. How dumb, but their tough luck if his leftie gives out. I still find it funny that people on this site believed the MFC could and should use the system[ tank] to get him and then [censored] when another nearly club uses the rules to steal him. KARMA I suppose, we were always in trouble giving whats his name no 31 as a well known no 31 also took the money and ran. Spooky really as whats his name also only played 31 games. Dont think I would go easy on whats his name, I would go harder on him and his memory than has been mentioned on this site. First I would remove any and all images of him on all posters, team photos any mention of him at all. He would be as if he never existed. All references of him would be excersized from our club, childish? Yes but so what, send him a message [even if late] get stuffed. SO ENDETH THE LESSON
  24. Why must threads on topics here always develope into slanging matches. Me at the beginning if the year didnt want Fevola but after watching our so called forward line operate I think we need a focal point up forward. If he is not picked up by an AFL team in the draft he will be holding down the full forward spot at Casey, something people are against anyway. Better to list him cheaply, strict years contract and open up the FF spot at Casey by playing him in the seniors. At the moment we dont have anybody at Casey who would come into the side NOW or even next year, let them develop at FF and when they have developed enough[ bigger bodies] bring them in. We as supporters like to think every young player on our list will be a gun, sadlly thats not always the case. Whats plan B if Cook and Fitzpatrick dont develope? Draft another 18 year old and wait until they might develop into another gun. I am 61 and I have been waiting since 1971 tell me about patience. All we tend to draft are polite stick figures. Now do your best one and all and slag off at me because I dont give a stuff as I barrack for the Demons and that has taught me patience if nothing else.
  25. I agree Fevola would be a bad type for all our young skinny kids. Kicked out of 2 clubs! shame! Anybody remember a chap called Martin Pike, kicked out of 3 clubs I believe Melb, North and Fitzroy. Fourth club strong coach and I believe 3 more Prem. medals. A preseason, one year contract with tough clauses or another big mature forward from somewhere else at draft time.
