  1. Players like Gawn and Preuss are midfielders so Bailey Williams may be considered a midfielder?
  2. When will they get the time to play the best of 3 since most grounds have cricket wickets with drop in pitches which require time to prepare pitches to play on.
  3. Lewis defended himself in 2003, claiming that he had accidentally consumed the banned substances for the 1988 Olympics. After the supplements that he had taken were analyzed to prove his claims, the USOC accepted his claim of inadvertent use, since a dietary supplement he ingested was found to contain "Ma huang", the Chinese name for ephedrine is known to help weight loss. The highest level of the stimulants Lewis recorded was 6 ppm, which was regarded as a positive test in 1988 but is now regarded as negative test. His sayings are always true even if you believe he took drugs to enhance 1988 performances at the the US Olympic trials not at the Olympics.
  4. I watch Garry Lyon train in the old days and he never pushed himself either so he knows what a waste of talent is when you think you can just turn up and perform. One of the great athletes of all time Carl Lewis used to have a saying 'when you are number 1 you have to train like number 2' also Jesse Owens had a saying 'that people say I am lucky but the harder I train the luckier I get' the saying's are basically true but lazy sportsmen blame other things for their failure to get to the top of the heap.
  5. The usual criteria is draft the best available but if it come down to 2 then draft for needs first.
  6. Reading the Sun article he was instructed to play on the fat side of the ground giving him very little scope to tackle so he played the opportunistic football. It also mentioned that 5 clubs were interested in his services and eliminated St Kilda and Brisbane. I for one think he is a very good footballer but the recruiters and Goodwin have to make that decision not us. Garlett has lost his way due to family problems? If he could find his mojo back then he will regain his spot in the 22 and help us win the ultimate prize in the AFL.
  7. How many tackles does Hawkins make in a year, in fact other than a select few their tackling was poor at Geelong since they let Chapman, Bartel and Ling go without replacing them.
  8. I think the MFC has done well and added some mongrel to a hard at side with May and Pruess, I think that hard at mongrel was part of the reason Hawthorn was such a good side during their premiership years.
  9. I thought when he was the Richmond Coach he overlooked Franklin, so why would anybody rate his opinion re-recruiting
  10. May will play better football without the responsibility of being the Captain I believe he will blossom without it since he wont feel the pressure of trying to do something special to lift the team. Teams rarely make Full Backs Captain.
  11. I think the MFC recruiters had miss givings about Gaff after the incident with Andrew and what effect it may have on Angus, if they recruited Gaff. A happy team is a good team
  12. The player who could be a key forward is Petracca who could do what Jakovich did in the 90's with Preuss in the pocket al la Bob Johnson or Mason Cox. Play him 1 on 1 in the goal square and he could be a sensation
  13. I looked at the players starting in the center square for MFC during the finals not 1 player had played 100 games with Jones and Tyson playing on the wings, I know Gawn played 99 and Viney played 98 but the players like Harmes, Oliver and Brayshaw had played between 55 and 70 games. It is believed that a team needs about 10-15 players over 100 games to win a premiership although WB probably were the exception.
  14. I have never seen so many Xavier's since Xavier Tanner.
  15. He has played on the forward line before so if one of our KPF go down he is an option to replace them since our KPB stocks are plentiful.
  16. I think Dom Tyson was unfortunately left behind with the development of Clayton Oliver last season and this season Angus Brayshaw and James Harmes. With the return of AVB and Petracca's involvement in the center square. With his development stagnating he became a player the MFC could trade and get someone like Brayden who will now be backup and possible 2nd ruck in some games.
  17. If you remember he's only played 1 game last year and had some knee problems so it is a risk to get someone who may not lineup for the team, maybe GWS has some medical knowledge that he was going to play restricted games due to the problems
  18. The traditional version of the game would be destroyed if the AFL changed the shape to the goal square on a thought bubble of some person who just likes change because they don't like how the game is played. In 2005/2006 the eagles and sydney grand final was low scoring and no one changed rules to get larger scores.
  19. I don't make comments like these lightly I have seen a lot of injured player come back from a knee injury and some never make it back because they have not done enough work. I was a trainer with the MFC in the 1976 to 1985 and an athletics official for 30 years (Olympics in 2000 and Commonwealth Games 2006) so I have seen it all. I love the club and I hope he makes a great recovery like Max Gawn who did his knee twice but he could be the MFC version of Alex Johnson who did his knee 6 times. I hope those who think I am sad sack, I hope you put in the similar amounts of work that did for the MFC. I would think he has done work on the weightless treadmill first not running outside.
  20. I don't call that running its just striding with a slight limp
  21. I am wondering why a talent like Jonathan O'Rourke can go from a possible 200 game player to a has been?
  22. The person would not be able to do so unless the contract signed by the player was in the company name and no club would be allowed to use this method because the player is a sole trader and would be considered tax avoidance by the taxation office.
