  1. It is possible, but my personal preference is to leave it as is. Given we only have 16 teams in the comp, there should always be plenty of replacements that you can easily sign and subsequently delist. Again, I prefer the setup as is, and agree with BrunoC's comment. The point of the captain is to spice up team selection each week. I'm happy to be flexible on any of the rules if there is enough support either way. While we are at it - there are a couple that i would like thoughts on: Bye weeks - Games are still scheduled for bye weeks. It may be tough to field a full 22 for these weeks - but the alternative is no ultimate footy for those weeks, so i suggest we rough it out. It maybe something that you will need to plan for when drafting. Waivers - "Once a player is Delisted they are placed on Waivers for a period of two days. During this time each coach in the league can put in a request to sign the player if they desire. At the end of the waiting period the coach who applied with the highest Waiver Priority is awarded with the player." I've opted for the reverse ladder order waver priority (working on a similar basis to the pre-season draft to help struggling teams), rather than the continually rolling list (once you use a waiver, you drop down to the bottom of the waiver priority list). First saturday game of the round team selection (as opposed to start of the round) - Whoever you choose for the Thursday / Friday night games are locked in, but gives you a bit more of a chance to suss out the AFL team selection Scoring system - just a reminder to folks, that we are using a half weighting for frees for, frees against, and scoring accuracy. Makes picking Buddy Franklin less of a liability!
  2. A reminder that midnight tonight is the deadline for any pick trades to be tabled. Looks like the trade b/w myself and Jastone the only one to go ahead at this stage. Any vetoes to this (or any other trade) needs to be received by Wednesday night. Just over a week until the draft. Start doing your research!
  3. If I remember correctly, Richmond last year didn't sign Jeep as their FOJ sponsor until just before the season started. Port also are chasing a major sponsor.
  4. Jastone - if you scroll through this thread, you'll see that we originally set the number of teams at 14, and there already was a fair bit of discussion about the original draft order. Its probably not fair that you get pick 15, but I would consider it more unfair that the people who joined originally suddenly have their picks worsened, because 2 new teams were allowed to join, when it was said explicitly from the start that it would only be 14 teams. Sure you don't have a top 3/4 pick, but you do have 2 picks in the top 18, which i consider to be actually be quite handy. To put my money where my mouth is, i'll trade first and second round picks with you under the trade rules mentioned above, if you agree. My picks 7 and 26 for your picks 15 and 18. All other rounds to remain as is. How bout it? In my opinion, once the Ablett / Swans of the world are gone, there is not a huge amount of difference between picks 6 and 20 or so. Done. I've implemented the 7.5 point system (in reality 15 points) as mentioned previously. I don't think it changed the rankings at all.
  5. Final Draft order * 1. Dees forever 2. Saigon Saints 3. Jiagars 4. Dark Days 5. CamBruceGoneMad 6. flying eyeballs 7. Stonecutters 8. Galahs 9. Toon Army 10. Van Diemen 11. Mega Watts 12. NEELDS ARMY 13. cbgsmu 14. Disgruntled Goats 15. IWAP 16. Dave's Demons Round 2 17. Dave's Demons 18. IWAP 19. Disgruntled Goats 20. cbgsmu 21. NEELDS ARMY 22. Mega Watts 23. Van Diemen 24. Toon Army 25. Galahs 26. Stonecutters 27. flying eyeballs 28. CamBruceGoneMad 29. Dark Days 30. Jiagars 31. Saigon Saints 32. Dees forever Round 3 - Same order as Round 1. Round 4 - Same order as Round 2 and so on. * Trading picks I thought it might be fun to open the possibility of trading picks. For example, Dave's Demons may wish to see if Dees forever is willing to part with pick 1 (and a lower round pick) for his two picks in the teens (picks 16 and 17). All trades must obviously be confirmed by both parties (either in this post or in the league message board), and must be arranged by 11:59 pm on Sunday 4th March. The rest of the league will have the same oppurtunity to veto the trade, as they will during the season to veto any player trades. If a third of teams (6 or more) decide that any proposed trade that is agreed by both parties is not fair, they should let me know via this thread, the league message board, or via PM. They will have until 11:59 pm on Wednesday 7th March to make it known that they wish to veto the trade. I realise the odds of getting a succesful trade of picks through is pretty slim, but thought it would add a little spice to the game if anyone wants to give it a try. Tabled Trades IWAP's all-stars gives Stonecutters picks 7 and 26 Stonecutters gives IWAP's all-stars picks 15 and 18 Edit: Trade succesful, draft order changed
  6. No. I've reset it to how it was orginially, and given our 2 new teams pick 15 and 16 respectively. Was nice having pick 1 for a brief period of time though.
  7. Yep, draft is set for Monday March 12 at 8pm. Still waiting for Robbo King's bro to join - so we can finalize draft order.
  8. Nope, just playing for bragging rights!
  9. League ID: 175561 Password: demons Jastone it would be great to have you join - but note that we are using the category system for scoring. I play DT, SC and ultimate footy, and easily prefer the category scoring. You'll pick it up quickly if you still want to join.
  10. Ok i've set up the league for 16 teams for Robbo King's bro and Striker's mate to join. I think we should just accept the new random draft order unless there are ny major objections
  11. robbo king - we can add your brother in - if we can get a 16th and final player who also wants to join. It won't work well with an odd number. Anyone else out there that wants to join?
  12. Thanks JA. So we can increase the teams, and we can keep the rough draft order we have now (obviously 2 extra picks per round). Firstly do we have 2 extra people that want to participate, and secondly what does everyone else think. Robbo king and Mega Watts are for it. Any more support / opposition to the expansion?
  13. I got Joel Selwood with my first pick last year. I felt dirty for getting excited everytime he ducked his head to milk a free.
  14. We could increase it to 16 teams - but i'm not sure it would be fair given that more teams makes it harder for everyone, and it also messes up the draft order, which so far everyone seems quite happy with (i'm happy with pick 7 - and share a similar sentiment to Striker 475 about consistency of picks).
  15. Good stuff Dees (Forever). Any hints who you are thinking for your no.1 pick at the moment - or are you gonna keep that under your hat until draft day? Pendlebury, Swan, Ablett? Do yourself a favour - and get whoever it is to sign a contract extension straight away!
  16. With regards to promtion / relegation - i'm all for it - and whoever wins your little league here will be most welcome in ours as the promoted team for 2013
  17. Good to hear from you BrunoC! Striker475: Draft order is out (automatically drawn), and yes, its how you said. Round 1 1. Dees forever 2. Saigon Saints 3. Jiagars 4. Dark Days 5. CamBruceGoneMad 6. flying eyeballs 7. IWAP's all-stars 8. Galahs 9. Toon Army 10. Van Diemen 11. Mega Watts 12. NEELDS ARMY 13. cbgsmu 14. Disgruntled Goats Round 2 15. Disgruntled Goats 16. cbgsmu 17. NEELDS ARMY and so on.
  18. OK by my count - Dr Mubutu - Monday 12th Furious D - Monday 12th Demonblood - Monday 12th Mega Watts- Sunday 26th IWAP - Either GM666 - Either (if pressed Sunday 26th) Striker475 suggested the Monday 12th on the ultimate board Saigon Saints has a clash (another ultimate draft) on the Sunday 26th Ok on the basis of this i've locked in the draft for Monday 12th March at 8pm. Mega Watts (and those who have yet to respond), I hope you can make it then. We can still debate the merits of the scoring system - but it looks as though we will use the format suggested by Mega Watts / Furious D - 6 full categories, and 3 half categories. CamBruceGoneMad, cbgsmu, Dark Days, Dees forever, Jiagars and Saigon Saints - if you are reading this, drop in and say g'day. I know cbgsmu personally, and he is a lurker of the site. He's committed to the comp, but lets hope he'll sign up and pop his head in here.
  19. Thanks Dappa Dan. A long way to go, but i'll gladly put that in my signature at the end of the season (how was my first attempt at smack talk?). Best of luck with the "other" league.
  20. I think thats a great solution - as long as its not too confusing for everyone. The nature of the scoring system means we would actually have double the weighting of the other categories: So it would be: Kicks - 2 Handballs - 2 Marks - 2 Hitouts - 2 Tackles - 2 Score - 2 Frees F - 1 Frees A - 1 Goal % - 1
  21. I don't mind the idea of using Free kick differential in place of Frees for / Frees against - but not sure i would want to get rid of the score accuracy. Personally i don't see any major issues with having 8 categories, which would increase the occurances of draws. We can set it up in any way that we want.
  22. OK - i'd like to get this settled as soon as we can so we don't miss out on our prefered date. Everyone post your preferences for 8pm Sunday 26th Feb or 8pm Monday 12th March by Friday night, and we'll lock a date in. If you can't make either of those times, you can pre-rank your players and have the computer select for you.
  23. Big Jim just to add on to Striker475's post - the two big differences between Ultimate footy and dreamteam / supercoach is the draft and the scoring. Each week you'll compete against a different opponent within our league across 9 categories (Kicks, Handballs, Marks, Hitouts, Tackles, Frees For, Frees Against, Total score and Goal accuracy). If I am playing you, we add up the total number of kicks for players in my starting 18 v total number for your starting 18 and so on. Whoever has the highest total wins that category. The person who has the highest number of category wins (out of 9) wins the round. One thing to consider when you are drafting your players. Not only do you need to conisder getting the balance right in terms of positions (enough quality backs, forwards, mids etc.), but you should also try to get the right balance in terms of the 9 categories across the team. For instance do you want a Liam Jurrah type forward who may not get a lot of possessions, but who will (hopefully) get you quite a few goals, or do you want a Colin Sylvia type who will rack up the kicks / handballs, but get less goals.
  24. That date is available on the system. Perhaps when we get our 14th and final member - we can put forward several draft days / times and we can all vote. Whichever gets the most votes is what we can go with - although we will never find a time that suits everyone.
  25. All discussion for Demonland 2 in here. Only 1 spot remaining. Oh and if your Ultimate Footy name doesn't match your Demonland name, let us know.
