  1. Dumb thread. Belittles a serious issue. Close please mods.
  2. Tassie would be a big black hole for us, bigger than the one we are currently in.
  3. Cheap one liner jackaub. I truly doubt Wines would be having any more success with us now. Port have a midfield that can support him. In the long run Toumpas will be a better player for us than Wines would have been. If we can get a couple of good senior mids like Sewell and Swan we can fast track his development. Toumpas can play. It's not possible to judge after a handful of games. Many on here would have culled N Jones and Frawley after their first couple of years.
  4. Spot on. ^ ^ ^ ^
  5. Firstly, I didn't select him. Second, the club selected him because he was the best available. Early picks must always be best available. If we got pick 1 this year and did not trade it, they'd be mad to pick a mid above Boyd, even though we need mids. That does not negate the fact that we must have mature quality midfielders to lead the way for Toumpas, Viney and the other young mids. We've been crappy at developing mids in the last few years, so he question I ask is, do we trade for that and who?
  6. And next year we'll probably begin to kill the career of Aish or Sheed or the like and then claim him as a dud because he didn't set the world on fire after a handful of games in the worst AFL midfield seen in the last 20 years. Carlton had an average midfield, then got Judd. GC got Ablett. The circumstances are different but the point is the same. Get an A grade midfielder or 2 who are leaders and your draftees lift. So the question is, who would we target? Daisy? Swan? Sidey? Sewell? Fyfe? Kennedy (Swans)? D Martin? If we could get the last 2 we'd go a fair way towards righting the ship.
  7. Unfortunately at the moment, the best way to kill a promising draftee's career is to put him in the MFC midfield. There is just so little support and leadership. Nate Jones is our best leader and performer in the middle, and I dont think he is a natural leader, just that we have none other. At any other club he wouldn't have that burden placed upon him and he could thrive without the hardest tag each week. Apart from Jones, who does Toumpas look up to in our midfield?
  8. Tassie/Melbourne Devils would never win a flag
  9. Watts in a trade for GWS Adams
  10. Time for the AFL to officially take over the club.
  11. Coming out of the ground last week after getting smashed by Norf, I found a MFC membership nailed to a tree. So I took it. You can never have enough nails.
  12. We could have any coach in the world and this team would kill him.
  13. A body was found floating in the Yarra today. Male, fish net stockings, long blonde wig, lip stick, mini skirt and a Melbourne jumper. Police took off the jumper immediately to save humiliating the deceased man's family.
  14. Scully's been our best player.
  15. Panic ridden. No one want to take it on and kick a goal. Very crowded forward line, as opposed to GWSs which is open and fast. The rebound off our half fwd line is killing us. That and the lack of midfield pressure. Grimes, Trenners, Silvia, Tappy look like 33 yr olds, not young fellas.
  16. Jessssus! It's a comedy of pathetic errors!
  17. Watts streams into the 50, should be a goal, misses goals and teammate. Poor effort. Callum Ward streams into 50, goes purposefully for goal and kicks it. Go figure.
  18. A lot of joggers, not many hard runners. Peterson, Grimes, Dunn. Very casual players ATM.
  19. Still trying to find your ball in the rough on the 9th?
  20. Tom's disposal is barely AFL standard. Reads the play well and great tank. But until his kicking is up to scratch, will always be 3rd tall back.
  21. What?! Take off the rose colored glasses guys. Gawn has shown a bit but is a long way off holding down first ruck, Jamar doesn't kick or mark and can only tap to his feet and Pencil is VFL standard. Clark won't be risked in the ruck again if he returns and Fitz is unknown as a ruck. Our midfield is terrible, and our ruck stocks are a significant contributor to that midfield woe.
  22. Welcome to Popular Mechanics forum for the obese.....
  23. I agree. Most young players want to play with their mates and get paid well. They also generally believe their coach and teammates are on the way to success.
  24. AFL about to make a statement soon re ASADA investigation. Could this be it?
  25. Too funny DC. Gold.
