And to misquote Ron Burgundy, "60% of the time, you are right every time". -
Potential future at Melbourne University

Ridiculous. Only a very small number of internationals would go to more than one AFL game. Very small. They just have no interest. And you think it's worth moving training base for? Sure, as part of a balanced marketing approach all AFL clubs will make some sort of pitch to Uni students, but the main financial supporter base lies elsewhere. A link with Melb Uni for sport science or research reasons is a great idea, but not as a training, administrative or supporter base. Well put jimbo. We have good facilities now. -

Dumb analogy. We are far from being the Yankees, despite what G Bartlett would like. Most international students have no interest in AFL. Most local university students have little money to spare and pre-established football allegiances (if any). "Setting up shop" at their Uni to attract them would be a desperate act by a desperate club. If you surveyed international students (as most Uni's and student unions do) you'd see that they are largely not interested in the AFL. Not going to happen. -

The voice of reason. Thanks Toot182. Research and education link with Melbourne Uni, perfect fit. Moving the club HQ and training there, not going to work. Melb Uni would not kick out the local sports clubs from its only oval and let MFC take over. ^^ This. Having taught Uni classes with international students for over 20 yrs I can count on one hand the number that showed any interest in AFL. Domestic Uni students have little money to spare and would be underrepresented in club memberships IMO, but would already follow a club. -

Would have thought that AAMI Park is closer to CBD than Parkville, Cudi. Any move must include: - A1 facilities much better than AAMI Park/Gosches Paddock. - makes very good financial sense. - 12 mth access for preseason with potential for exclusive use. - be near the MCG, because we are part of the MCC. The push to have a home in the CBD seems more based upon romance than anything else IMO. Where is any form of modelling or research that says it would be such a great idea (apart from G Bartlett proposing a Collins St address)? Whorethorne, Collingwood, St Kilda and Essendon have either moved from their suburbs or are in the process of moving. Look what happened to the last VFL/AFL team that was based at Melbourne Uni.... -
You sure he wasn't from Romsey and liked a good Shiraz?

Players to target at the end of the year
Moonshadow replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
It would be good to have players actively want to come to Melbourne. -
Sorry Wiseblood, but I'd much prefer they stop the kick than rely on the chance that it may or may not go through for a goal, especially when Bontempelli's only about 10m from the goal and it's plainly obvious he's a highly skilled player.
-
I think I counted five Melbourne players around Bontempelli that were closer to him than any other Bulldog player when he kicked that final goal. Surrounded by 5 Melbourne players! The guy didn't even want it, he tried to dish it off but no one else was there to help him. And we couldn't even get off our flat feet to attack the ball or the man with the ball. Only at Melbourne...

The Run Home - Race for the spoon
Moonshadow replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
GWS are far more likely to snaffle 2 or 3 wins than we are. IMO we will get one more win....maybe none. The young Melbourne players are getting tired at this point in the season. -
Bride shopping Bitty? Careful of the chicks with d**ks.

Yes. 3 strong goals. Nearly 30 possessions. In just about everything. Looks good. Very, very short though. -

Caleb Daniel for SA is a real little (very little) pocket rocket. Tough as nails and a good by foot. Just kicked two very good goals for SA vs VC. 19 possessions, highest on ground so far. -
Surely Chip wouldn't risk his career to leave for a one year contract and a hand shake deal. Can you imagine the s/fight that would happen if the FA player did a knee or badly broke their leg in that one year and the club delisted them?

Your asking personal questions about the private parts of cows and you call me a pervert!?!!

Looking for a career change Bitty?
-
Grimley? No. If Hogan signs for two more years, we need to focus on more quality mids and maybe a quick running half back with very good decision making ability and disposal.
-
Many Sydney fans I know rate Mitchell highly. See him as part of the good, young crop they have coming through. IMO he'd get a game ahead of many of our mids ATM.
-
Two wins in a row would be very nice. Been a while since that happened. Pedo to kick 5.
-
Harley Bennell has Liam Jurrah's hairstyle and shares his smooth fluidity that makes the sublime look easy. He was simply brilliant today.
-
Ouch!
-
...then turning it over, unfortunately. How was that dinky kick directly to his opponent that resulted in McEvoy's first goal.
-
These umpires are very average. Much the same as the AFL umpires ATM.
