Haven't been back to Whitten Oval since that win against Footscray in 1987. Very fond memories. I was young and full of hope and joy. Now not so young, but still looking for that spark again from football.

I wonder if the Hawks will understand his strengths and work with them rather than simply expecting him to perform to stay, which is what I suspect we did. I saw him in a game vs Adel (I think) where he kicked 3 rippers and also watched him vs WB where he shut down Boys and had him subbed and thought he was worth persevering with. That's where Hogan's sledge to Murphy about "where's your next big thing?" came from. Good luck to the guy. I wish him well.

Very happy for Fitzy. Always liked his persistence despite health/injuries/baby giraffe issues. Went to the Melb vs WB game last year where he towelled up Boys and thought there might just be something good inside those spindly limbs worth waiting for.

What if he adds rather than takes? I think you are looking at this way too simplistically picket. At best he'll be pushing guys like Hunt, Wagner, Kent, Vince, Milkshake, BenKen and Hibberd (?) to either improve or be dropped to the Casey. At worst he adds inexpensive depth to come in for injuries or poor form. I'd love to see him improve his tank and speed to push those mentioned To the limit of senior selection. I'm not saying he's better or worse than those mentioned, moreso that I'd rather he push them at selection time each week than MJones, Grimes, JKH or Riley.

What should Trenners work on to improve over summer? What are his current weaknesses as well as strengths? What value can he bring to the team in terms of position needs, experience and skills? This is fair and reasonable to discuss, I would've thought, without being shouted down. I believe if he cannot improve his speed he will struggle to get games. I really hope our fitness guys can work on this. To our medico posters (Webber), it possible to improve speed, esp after his setbacks? His tank will certainly improve with another preseason. I'm pleased the club has given him another year. Trenners will certainly leave no stone unturned in his efforts to succeed.
