Training - Wednesday 16th November, 2016
Moonshadow replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
You dee man DeeSpencer. Mint report. Thanks. -
Agree. A poor decision that needs to be handled firmly but carefully so that he learns from the experience and doesn't happen again. A visit to a hospital rehab facility and a chat with a family who have lost someone will open his eyes. Fortunately this time no one was hurt.

I hope Collingwood's mountain has an active volcano at its peak. Keep running lads, nearly there!

2016 Player Review - # 8 Heritier Lumumba
Moonshadow replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
In the giddy new spirit of Demondland congeniality I find myself compelled to agree with your post Stu, particularly the last paragraph. (compliment) It is a make or break year for H and I reckon no one knows it more than him. I hope he still has a valuable role to play. Goodwin is building his team for the future and will want about 30 players ready to put their hand up each week. If, for whatever reason, any one player cannot get on the park regularly enough, they'll get overtaken by our hungry youth. -
Not to mention the outrage at what they gave up for Prestia

Good tip. Thanks

No, never! Who? Surely not Jesse...

Dunno. Maybe he just wanted to play footy with his mates and Hird, Danks, et al had been removed. -

He doesn't have to turn up yet! Again, how do we not know he hasn't put in a lot of work out of the public view as instructed by Misso? I'm not saying he's going to have a great year or retire mid season, but I think there are posters jumping to unreasonable conclusions on this one. -

Point taken. But I would guess that all players take some forms of suppliments, presumably legal. Even vitamins and protein substances are suppliments which players should disclose to ASADA. If you are saying Zacka knew the program included banned drugs, that implies they all knew. I ask you 2 questions Pineapple: How solid is your source? If Zacka was aware, were the others? -

Without prejudice or malice but... How do we know he's not doing considerable running, swimming, gym work or the like off the training track to present in tip top shape with the other senior players when their PA award says they should? Maybe he's been told what to do and when to show up on the track and he's following it. Perhaps we should give him the benifit of waiting until he hits the track with the remaining senior players? -

For all professional sportspeople who are subjected to ASADA/WADA testing, it could not be clearer. -
Sloony has clearly decided to flee the United States of Trumperica and run away to an isolsted island somewhere in the Pacific. No, not Manus Island. A little to the left of Manus. It's an uncivilised populace, not as uncouth as Trumperica, but savage nonetheless. Where the locals survive only by raising livestock and digging up the mineral riches. I believe it's called Straya. Good Luck Sloony. You'll need it.

List analysis: What Melbourne needs
Moonshadow replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
And we weren't far off beating them twice! I think Hunt, Stretch and Salem will be our outside run and spread across the middle. Especially with Piggy and Milkshake coming in. Garlett and Kent may find more time rotating through there as well. 1 x project ruck, maybe from state league and a smokey mid/small forward in the draft are my guesses. I believe we really need another high class 100+ games mid, which hopefully comes in next year's trade/FA period. -

Wasn't Zacha's fear of needles the reason he didn't participate, or was he against the supplement program? Not sure. -

There are examples of larger sports where no winner or prize was awarded due to doping. eg Tour de France. agree to disagree, no probs -
Yes, you are spot on. Thanks.

Thank god this sort of rubbish happens to other clubs now (touch wood). Eat 'em alive Tigers!

Ineligibility by WADA due to a doping ban isn't near the same as a one match suspension dc. Sometimes it's ok to not award an award, that was my point. In this case it's a long time after the event and I believe the best option would be to leave it blank. -

I think there should be no winner of the Brownlow for that year. In the (far) past of the VFL, there were breaks or gaps in awards such as the premierships due to extenuating circumstances. I'm not comparing world wars or death with a drug cheat, just that sometimes awards don't have to be awarded. -
Like the tread Ron, an excellent topic. As a slight aside, when you say "treated past players poorly" do you mean players finishing their careers, or the way we treat retired players? Because IMO the only one of those players who might have got a raw deal from us whilst a player is Junior, and even then his body was close to shot. It's important to differentiate between players who we treated poorly and players who were upset at the end of their time. I look at what happened with Jordie Lewis at the Hawks and can't remember a player who was still near their peak that we shafted. Junior might have an arguable case, though. Some might say Stef Martin, but he reached his peak at the Lions rather than with us. Back to your topic, and I believe Ingo still follows our progress, despite a successful and acceptably distracting career in women's swimsuit design.

This will certainly be massaged into a win for Watson, EFC and the AFL instead of being as a result of his and his club's deplorable actions. He had no choice but to lose the medal due to being banned. It's not honourable or 'big' of him, he was banned for breaking the PED rules and carries the badge of being a drug cheat forever more. He may we'll be a nice bloke, but he, his team mates and his club have not been honest or open on this matter.
