The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
A mate of mine who coaches at a middle level at Marcellin told me before that draft that Bont was both the most polite kid and the best talent he had seen come through the school in 25 years. I was stupidly hoping he might go through to us, but alas...

Like it. Shiel isn't a FA, I think, so we'd have to trade. Still bite into our sc a lot

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Omac is tracking fine. With another couple of preseasons and increased core/upper body strength, he'll become they second key back we need. More games and strength will help him. We really need an experienced A grade midfielder to come in next year. They aren't easy to get, but I'd be having a big crack at Fyfe or Dusty. Cost us a packet, but as FAs we'd still have our draft picks. Unless we are forced to trade for them...

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
This ^^ Midfield wins games IMO. We have lots of youth and potential in our midfield but I'd prefer to trade for another experienced A grade mid than a key back. Having said that, I would not be unhappy to see Lever at the Dees. 'Lever to Demons' sounds like a sitcom.

I like Lever a lot, but agree with those saying we need an established A grade mid to support our young ones. Control the ball better in the midfield and our back line will hold its own.

I agree. His first year was a cracker. He seems to be lifting this year, so here's hoping for an injury free 22 games with no concussion

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
I've always liked the motto "draft for talent, trade for need". There can sometimes be a fine line between talent and need, but I reckon Gus and Trac were the best of both that year (so far anyway).

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
The Bont was previous year to Gus and Trac ENYAW. We had no pick to take him, unless you are referring to the mini draft pick where we got Hogan.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Two young, talented players still learning the game. One is fit and ready to explode, the other tall and still sorting his body out. It would be better to review this in another 2-3 years. Whilst the Trac looks ready to star, he doesn't exactly have multiple BOGs that prove he's there yet.
