KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Not a fan at the length of the contract there can be too many variables that can go wrong as we have seen with other players in the league but then again contracts mean s nothing these days.

Umpiring standard
6 minutes ago, HarpenDee said: On the couch's panel only had two comments on the umpiring. 1. Unbelievable Nick Daicos didn't get more holding free kicks against Langdon 2. Melbourne's leadership and culture are junk, look at Kozzie Pickett appealing for a free while chasing Mcreery We've seen before they have the technology to show how many metres run, yet they chose not to here. I wonder why? We've had shorter 50m penalties. But no, Kozzie is the one in the wrong. Yes, by the rules, Langdon should have had more free kicks paid against him. The Melk one, well, I have to admit, I don't know how they missed that one, but that happens. People can blame the umpires all they like, but that never cost us the game. Mistakes will always happen with umpiring decisions, but what's the answer? Go back to captains making the decisions? A game will never be finished.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
10 minutes ago, Fork 'em said: Whereas I think May should pull his head in. The rip he gave Lindsay after the garbage 50 wasn't on. Lindsay was moving away from the mark and got pinged to every-ones surprise. Then the 1st year kid's got one of our so called leaders giving him a red faced spray in front of 80K people to go with it. As for Gawn I don't know what May expected. We all know Gawn can't kick at the best of times, he'd been running and jumping his [censored] off for 2hrs. 30seconds left, if we wanna get down the other end of the ground he couldn't go back through the congestion up the members side. Had to be the open side and apparently the ump also called play on putting more pressure on the kick. I'd like to also compare the meters covered during the game between Gawn and May. See how far Gawn ran and then see how far May ran. See how often May had to jump into or wrestle some other bloke at ball-ups etc. Then discuss if the kick was lazy or tired. Anyway, what's done is done and I'm not gonna roast the guy who give us 100% every week for stuffing up what would have been a Hail Mary play anyway. Damage to our chances of winning was done earlier. Expand to Edit I won't criticise Gawn, but I will criticise the fact that everyone knows that Gawn isn't the best person to pull off pinpoint kicking, so why wasn't any player running past for a handball? Why weren't players creating space to give him an easier out instead of doing that.

Daicos 13 minutes ago, jackaub said: Proved to me JVR is not going to make it was and observer and passenger most of the day in my view doesn't have a clue about how to play forward Cant ruck Cant mark Shame really just doesn't get into the game And whose fault is that? JVR can attribute some of that to him; the coaching can attribute a majority of that to them. Since 22 every year, Goodwin says we have to work on our connection to the forward line, and except for a couple of quarters in games, we have the same problem over and over again. All you have to do is watch Casey, and you can see the problem even more. Petty is a better lead-up player than a pack-mark player, and it all comes down to how the midfield can deliver the ball. It's just bomb after bomb. Then we had Melk kick a ball to a free Kozzie with Howe having time to get back instead of kicking it boundary side so he could run onto it. But I also blame Kossie for not forcing Melk to kick it there, and that's coaching. I will give credit for the way they limited Nick Daicos, but they allowed Josh to be free, the same with Sidebottom. If you watch enough of the Pies, there are three players you sit on; they contained one but allowed the other two to go again. That's coaching.

Been saying that since 22 but some posters don't agree with that analogy....

So why didn't the coaches do something about it that's the problem right there.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
First of all, the effort was great, and it was good to see that they kept pushing. However, the umpires were not the deciding factor; it was again the forward line and skills that beat us. Players were unable to lower their eyes. Trac, Rivers, Oliver, getting worse at it, just throwing on the boot, and the kick goes nowhere. The number of players who kick it higher than longer causes players to wait; therefore, the opposition stops the run. There was a failure to control Josh Daicos, and Sidebottom just ran free, with players jogging to man up when everyone can see where the ball is going next. Yes, I'm harsh, but those are the facts: effort A+; skills C-. Now, next week will be interesting to see how they back up, and we all know how flaky Port can be—great one day, poor the next.

People blaming the goal-kicking are just looking for an excuse for why we lost. We were out-planned and out-coached all day. The Saints are known for switching the ball from the backline and were allowed to do that all day without an attempt to man up. Players got sucked into the contest, leaving Saints free to walk the ball out. Players continually handballed boundary side to running players with nowhere to go but down the line, where they were cut off. Forwards and backmen were dragged up and down to the center line, thus being exposed. Players watched their opponent run to free space and did not even bother to chase. The list goes on. If we play like that next week, the Valentine's day Massacre will seem like a teddy bear's picnic.

Those who think Salem is worth a spot in the side are kidding themselves. He is a liability when there is pace in the game, too busy trying to take the easy option.

Yes, we have been doing that a lot more, not quite there yet with skill levels, but it has also allowed us to move the ball into the forward line with different options.

NON-MFC: Round 12
People are underestimating the Pies' game plan and how it has changed. They don't rely on contested ball; they rely on holding position at both ends of the ground and going heavy on turnovers. Guys like Sidebottom and the Daicos brothers drag their opponents into the contest, then back out of it, thus becoming free and unopposed to move the ball with speed. You really need to play the Pies man-to-man, not giving them free space to move in. It will be interesting to see how we play against them.

My 3 word player analysis V Sydney
14 hours ago, DeeZone said: He went at 71% yesterday 3 turnovers, twelve score assists and over 400m gained, he was our highest rated player, I had him in my top four. Not a fan of his these days. He is good when everything is one way, but when the going gets tough, he has a habit of panicking and makes terrible decisions by hand and foot, but in every discussion, you have your view; I have mine, and that's ok.

And he can't kick over 40 metres even Viney can kick 45....but I totally agree with you on him.

Short Boundary Throw Ins
Nah that was a joke when they tried that, just have no contact until the ball is thrown in and no grappling first one that does free kick soon stop that.
-
Short Boundary Throw Ins
I believe he was short of the mark and moved to the right as if he was outside the 5,

Short Boundary Throw Ins
Speaking of throw-ins it's about time the AFL changed the rules for ruckmen no more grapling it's a blight on the game there should be no contact until the ball is thrown in, i also agree with La Dee no more nominated ruckmen at ball ups just throw it up and if a third ruckman goes up pay a free. P.S. Also, get rid of the stand rule. Players are getting too much of an advantage.

My 3 word player analysis V Sydney
Guess you missed the turnover ones then.

Maybe he could teach a few others to do the same, switching the ball would be so much easier.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
You can only play against what's put in front of you, and let's be real, Sydney has a big injury list, and the two suspensions didn't help their cause. Their form on the G is not that flash, but it was good to see some positive passages of play, hopefully giving players some confidence in themselves to keep moving forward. The big test will be against the Pies, Suns, and Crows, which will show us we are among the top teams.

NON-MFC: Round 11
Three of the takeaways from that match and the pies are also doing is limiting the easy kick outs from the opposition and not all forward line players pushing up the ground to be in the contest and players not being sucked into the contest when they don't have to, we did something similar in the last quarter last week and I hope that continues.

NON-MFC: Round 11
Dogs are getting sucked into contests and trying to play on without thinking, handballing to know one in a good position.
