I should have said that if they can develop Oliver with more ball skills and running patterns and improve his football awareness, he will improve significantly, but if they don't, he will remain the same, and that is on Goodwin.

Kossie does more damage as a forward than as a midfielder until he is taught the craft, and I'm not sure that even then, if Oliver goes to another club and they develop him with more skill and running patterns, he will just stay at the same level. Goodwin has a lot to answer for there. This is going to be an interesting year.

I would have gone further, Ruckman are not allowed contact until the ball is thrown in from boundary throw-ins, and no grappling at centre bounces. It's a blight on the game.

Scott was outcoached especially in the second half, dangerfield, smith shutdown ball movement delivered with purpose and bringing in Neil for the second half instead of starting him a genuis move.

You can teach body positioning, and you can teach leading patterns, and while forward instincts take time, you can at least make them competitive.

It's funny that I started to say these things in 2022 and onwards, as you could see the changing game styles that teams were starting to implement. Our midfield then was one-paced and lacked skills, and as the years have gone on, it has been shown to be correct. We had forward line problems then, and we still do now, so nothing has changed since then.

Singing from the same hymn book has been the way since '22, and now people can see that I hope for whoever is the coach. We get someone who can teach forward craft; that will be one of the biggest challenges along with the midfield overhaul.

Now I'm in the camp that if some club offered a good deal for Oliver, they should look at it. Still, the last 2 games he played were like late 21 games a bit more composure with the ball and better running patterns so maybe with a new coach and role he could reinvent himself into an important player again, as for Trac gee there is a lot of work to do with his kicking to advantage maybe more forward than midfield now it is all going to be interesting how things pan out.
