  1. I'm more excited by seeing Jack run out. I expect Petracca to come out and play well. I am not so sure I expected Jack to run out at all so it will warm the heart when he does. (sentimental old fool)
  2. I love a gentile touch - but all us good Jewish boys do - it's forbidden fruit !
  3. The fine print on the AFL site says that it was low impact to the head. Question is - was it to the head?
  4. He just relentlessly hunts the ball. I was amazed at the way he had no hesitation in trying to rip the ball out of the hands of the opponents when the ball was in dispute on the ground. I shudder to think what his strength in contests will be like in 2 or 3 years.
  5. I don't think you are allowed to bring up other cases ( or non cases) as a defence for your own charge. In my opinion that is something you should be allowed to do. It would lead to more consistency. (Noted that it is hard to allow "precedence" when interpretation changes from one season (week?) to the next - Oliver's tackle and fine being a prime example)
  6. I was at the game but forgot to tape it. Pedersen's bump in the goal square didn't look good at the game but i don't have the benefit of a TV replay. Any concerns ?
  7. spot on In answer to Mo64 - Tom Mc was actually quite contradictory in what he said. There is the quote above and then there is this “It doesn’t change anything – we don’t want guys who are now in the leadership group to go and change the way they lead and doing different things, because that’s what got them there in the first place. Confusing Tom !
  8. Care to give examples ?
  9. I find it interesting that just because players are no longer in the leadership group that many automatically assume that they no longer have what it takes to be a "leader". The omission of Dawes is fairly obvious - he is struggling with his body and needs to concentrate on getting that right so he can play. The omission of Lumumba and Grimes to me are equally obvious - both need to concentrate purely on finding good form to be selected in the team The omission of Dunn is an interesting one - I am thinking with a seemingly limit on the numbers that with him turning 29 this year and the inclusion of Vince at 30 they wanted some younger leaders to be included. I disagree with those who suggest that Dawes is not a leader. The debate about his value purely as a footballer is valid but in my mind he is absolutely a leader - whilst he is rehab he was giving instruction to the Weed and Hulett on body positioning. No matter if he is getting a kick or not he is always marshaling the troops in the forward line. To those who insist that leadership groups are a complete w@nk - Every AFL club has one as do most top level professional teams that I know of. So obviously they see benefit of a leadership group that those calling it a w@nk just can't understand.
  10. You want to put Dustin Martin's father on the ignore list ?
  11. I agree with you everything you say - but if he does get another year whilst it will be nowhere near what he is paid now, it won't be around $100K.
  12. Hey Tim, Stephen did a show in February where he did the complete albums - Lovetown and A new kind of Blue - I was O/S but Alex went and said it was a great gig...he was in top form....
  13. Elvis Costello, Sunnyboys, Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses, Stephen Cummings Saw this gig at Rochford - Feb 2013 - last time they were together. Sunnyboys were fabulous - it was great to see Jeremy Oxley playing and in good health Jo Jo zep were great as was Tex . Stephen Cummings who I am a huge fan of , has up days and down days - this wasn't one of his shininhg moments. Elvis Costello was as always....just Elvis Costello !
  14. He has only been doing black sorrow shows..
  15. Case in point on what a strong leadership group does http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-03-10/they-did-not-meet-those-standards-crows-stand-down-pair
  16. I am going to make a huge statement with a small disclaimer. (if his foot causes no inconvenience) Jack will come back better than ever. He only needs to be able to get contests and his football smarts will hold him in very good stead. As you rightly said - Balanced and skillful footballers who make good decisions are a valuable commodity.
  17. It is very rare that a successful band can lose a lead singer and find a replacement that not only keeps them successful but launches them into the stratosphere ( success wise) - so whilst his singing wasn't my cup of tea I absolutely acknowledge the great job he did.
  18. The leadership is so important off the field - many issues off field for the entire playing group are taken to the leadership group and the leadership group bring back issues to management/coaches - I like the idea that if you transgress you are sanctioned by your peers ( the leadership group)
  19. I don't like to plug...but there are two music venues in Melbourne both run by the same bloke called the Caravan music Club and Memo music hall. The venues are aimed at an older demographic and they do have some stock standard fare of older bands who are still doing the traps ( Chain, Black Sorrows, The models, Ross Wilson, Phil Manning, Steve Cummings etc) but they also give time to less known local acts (Suzannah Espie, Jeff Lang etc ) and quirky overseas acts ( Steve Poltz, Pokey Lafarge etc ). What I really like is they also put on some quirky shows and tributes - In May the Brewster Bros are doing an Angels tribute which is not just music - they will telling stories about the life and times of the Angels interspersed with music. They do birthday tributes to the likes of Dylan and Neil Young where they have amongst others Chris Wilson, Tim Rogers and Tex Perkins sing their favorite songs of those artists. The sound in these venues is usually exceptional as they are not trying to blow you out of the room. http://www.caravanmusic.com.au/ http://www.memomusichall.com.au/
  20. (Rjay -we both put a topic up at the same time - i deleted mine) For one am not a believer in the "big g" upstairs but if I did I would suspect he is angry at something as we have lost another one. I have fond memories of my youth watching countdown and watching Jon English with those massive black eyes rock out. I have not seen him live in over 20 years but do remember him supporting international acts in the 80's and being really dynamic on stage. Another good one gone way too early. RIP Jon
  21. are you a memo/caravan club frequenter ?
  22. I wonder about the process. I wonder if players can opt out of the process (request not to be nominated for leadership) If as you say his peers don't rate him then something has changed since last year where his peers did rate him.
  23. And what is done behind the scenes plays a huge role in improving on field results. We, the supporters get a four quarter glimpse each week and a little insight at training - but we have little insight as to the conversations and influence that go on both on and off the field. Yes, it is important that a leader has onfield impact but there is so much more to leadership than just that. Perfect example for me was Nick Maxwell - an just above average footballer in my opinion but talking to a Collingwood player, he cited him as the best captain/leader he had played under - streets ahead of Buckley.
  24. Brian did indeed sing on that album as Bon died shortly before recording started and "the band" was credited with the song writing but there is strong support out there that says it was a Bon album. Without much effort - here is one http://loudwire.com/bon-scott-influence-back-in-black-random-acdc-items/
