  1. BB has nailed it - what happens this year will basically dictate what happens next year. He will either get his body right, be serviceable and get a year on his contract. If he keeps breaking down as he is now he will not go around next year.
  2. I was thinking the same And I was thinking that Jordie's kicking has improved And I was thinking that Jordie has gained a fair few yards in pace And I was thinking that Jordie has learned to extricate himself from tight contests brilliantly And I was thinking that Jordie has learned how to take a great grab.
  3. I know he was the mainstay for 35 years but I am with you. I may be criticised for being too old school, but Brian was no Bon.
  4. I was privileged to go the benefit concert they had for him at Memo in StKilda towards the back end of last year. The room was awash with "orange" being his color of choice during his later years. Lots of muso's came out to support him and the outpouring of love for the man that night was palpable. He played a couple of songs and as frail as he was, his guitar work was magic. RIP Hanna...another great one gone too early
  5. i like that - the MRP should change it's acronym to WTFKWTWDIAGC - it is much more accurate....

  7. It was Moloney...if it wasn't our team it would have been comedy gold.
  8. I quite enjoy when posters start talking about what a player should be paid. Are you aware of what players are paid ? Dawes to be given a one year contract for about $100K - a third round draft pick in his first year who plays 14 games earns that much.
  9. To me this was damning...even if it was unintentional as he claimed as Garland changed direction into him - he had zero interest in the aftermath of his action.
  10. I agree but follow the MRP's thinking ( or lack thereof) - the head is the head. Whilst I agree with the general idea that the head must be protected, there must be recognition that the game is physical and played at 100 miles an hour.
  11. It was mentioned before but i love the way he jumps into the tackler so he is elevated and it is impossible to pin his arms and this move means he has taken the tackler out of the play but still allows him to release the handball. He needs to be careful as leaving the ground into an opponent can have repercussions but I have seen him execute this 3 or 4 times and each time he has done it to perfection. I have not necessarily agreed with commentary that big 18 years old's have AFL ready bodies. A large looking frame can mask the reality that they lack the toning and indeed strength of a more mature footballer (as Viney pointed out about Petracca) - apparently no one has told this to Oliver as he already has no issue using his body as a weapon. I think he will be scarily strong with a couple of seasons and preseasons under his belt.
  12. Jack Watts, contrary to him being the no 1 draft pick is not the messiah ( he is a just a very naughty boy)
  13. The problem with this comparison - is the coach/recruiting staff/media and us supporters all have very different ideas on the value of players and trying to compare what one gets compared to another may leave you scratching your head.
  14. especially when you sometimes see the exact opposite - two players going over the boundary line in a tackle together and you see some players actually try to stop their opponent going into the fence. Sundays push on Garland - unnecessary and when they keep focusing on "dangerous" in "dangerous tackles" they need to take this unnecessary and dangerous element out of the game
  15. hmm ..most ? really ? Interested who you include in most.. I have had a quick look and I will absolutely give you Breust and Rioli.. interested to hear about the rest making an immediate impact (Ballantyne, Waters, Elliot, Wingard, Dalhaus ( started as a small forward), Green, Lecras, Thomas - all had similar first seasons as Kent or worse. Eddie Betts was better but hardly a world beater). Not making excuses for Kent - but he had a reasonable start in 2013, stagnated in 2014 - looked to be coming on last year before he did his hammy - in season 4 so he needs to impact the game more now.
  16. Actually - compare Tom to Lynden Dunn. Dunn is a good kick - however - you rarely if ever see Dunn take a risky kick. If the player he is trying to hit up is not metres in the clear he will kick as long as he can, usually to a contest where he hopes it is better than a 50/50 chance. I just never see Dunn try a marginal kick.
  17. I don't think Tom has terrible disposal. I think he has terribly inconsistent disposal. I rewatched the game in reverse ( I have no idea why). His first quarter was by far his worst in terms in disposal but most of his disposals were ok. He didn't make what I consider bad decisions - just executed poorly on 3 occasions ( which cost us dearly). He is never going to have breath taking disposal but if he can be drilled to keep it simple ( and to have good runners near him taking the easy give) he will be fine. My issue is that in context of real games, some turnovers can be very deflating and game changing. The "Bartram" effect. Clint Bartram's disposal was average - not always bad, but he would manage to turn a ball over at the most crucial times that would take the wind out of the teams sails. There are turnovers and then there are BIG turnovers. As a CHB who likes to run and carry ( a good thing) and is quite attacking and rebounding ( also a good thing) his turnovers have the ability to really hurt us. He is a 23 year old work in progress - I am sure these problems have not slipped his attention or the coaches.
  18. Even when not kicking goals, you cannot downplay how important in his short time that Hogan is for our forward structure. And I understand we need better than Dawes but he was important for our structure also - he ran to the right places and nearly every contest brought the ball to ground ( that's because he didn't mark it). Forgetting that Dawes body doesn't hold up, to me the difference between Pedersen and Dawes is Pedersen marks better but goes missing too much for mine. Dawes draws the ball more than Pedersen which is better for the likes of Hogan and the crumbers ( we do need better than either of them)
  19. I am glad no one has mentioned Ox's retirement speech...then I will start to tear up ( oh cr@p.. I just mentioned it)
  20. I find Tom Mc's disposal indiscretions interesting. Give him a split second to dispose of the ball and he does alright. The minute he has time and starts to think about what he wants to do with the ball it seems to go wrong.
  21. I don't think the coaches would be scratching their heads at all. I think they are well aware of where this team is at and the strengths and weaknesses of the players.
  22. Derwayne or Tony Shaw...it's a bit like asking someone which disease you would prefer getting - cholera or typhoid...
  23. or this Round 3 1962 Sat 5 May 1962 2:10pm V Bulldogs MCG Win 94 -35 Maybe this is Nasher's point ?
  24. It always amuses me... " had they kicked straight...." "if xxx had played we would have been beaten.." "if we play that way against Carlton or Essendon ..we would get beaten " It is all playing out scenarios that didn't happen or crystal balling on what might or might not happen in the future. You take the positives from the game and highlight them to the team and then also analyse and work on the deficiencies.
