How do you see the deal as different from what Hawthorn does down in Tassy ? I want to preempt your answer in saying - if you are going to say - massive membership the Hawks get from Tassy - I will rebut and ask - would Hawks get the massive injection of members if they weren't a successful club ?

Me too ! I thought that just isn't right !

My only concern would be leg speed for a HBF

I think the reason people pick miskicks from Grimes and Garland is because of the context of the kick. Their miskicks stick in the mind because they seem to do it more than others when under relatively no pressure. So the one that stuck in my mind on Sunday was Garlands switch to Grimes - when he was under no pressure at all and it missed him by a fair way and dribbled out of bounds.

AFL footy mate micro figures. Minus the demons

they wanted to do a Jones one again but they ran out of ink. -
I have found that with any pest - home remedies or supermarket remedies rarely work - call in the professionals if it is really bad - but a tip - ring around - prices can really vary

To shot my argument down a little and explain why his conversion rate is good, I also notice that he doesn't lead to take a lot of his marks at an angle of greater than 45% which makes shots at goal easier and is exactly what you want ( if you can do it ). You are right that he doesn't take too many set shots from 40 plus.
-
One year is all I have to work with ! Last week he had one horrible shank and one miss from a 45 degree angle that didn't miss by all that much. I absolutely agree his action needs to be improved to get more length in his kicks and if he looks prettier kicking goals from inside 50 then so be it - but if he finishes his career just under 70% efficiency then that is fine by me. Of course there is always room for improvement. To me a slightly bigger issue is managing his frustration when he does have an off day - he was butter fingers last week ( and I am sure that was a "rusty day") but on at least a couple of occasions when he dropped a sitter he was a little busy chastising himself instead of going immediately with a second effort. Not a major issue but I did notice it as did Dunstall.
-
I haven't answered my own question at all. He can't kick over 50 - noted. But even more accurate within 50 ??? He is going at 69% - always room for improvement - but a weakness ? If it is a weakness then Hudson, Lockett and Dunstall all had kicking weaknesses as did Luke Bruest last season as none went at 69% ! The stats don't lie - as to the difference to kicking 4-5 and 9-10 - has there been lots of games where he has been terribly inaccurate and cost himself goals ? Again jumping at shadows. To me it is putting the cart before the horse. Would a more fluid approach allow him to kick further ? Probably yes , but kicking goals from outside 50 is a bonus and not too many have made a career out of it ( although i did prefer Neita from 50 plus). So would a change to his action be more beneficial - probably - but nothing supports the argument that his kicking is a weakness let alone a disgrace. ( I 100% agree that his action LOOKS disgraceful)
-
I don't get this. Please tell me why his kicking is a weakness ? If you suggest that his kicking from distance is a problem, then yes. He appears to not be able to kick a goal from 50 metres plus. But a If you are suggesting his kicking at goal from inside 50 is a weakness happy to be provided with any statistical proof of this.

Jeremy Cameron reported for high contact
nutbean replied to The Backyard Charizard's topic in Melbourne Demons
I didnt say I agree with it - but I do suggest it is eye for an eye. You answered your own question - if an injury happens due to a fair contest then that's footy - but if you choose to bump, the more severe the injury the greater the penalty - that's the message they are sending. How often is it being reported - "we will see what the injury report is" The other thing of note is hitting/bumping/tackling someone fairly. The definition of fairly seems to be fluid with MRP. -
Jeremy Cameron reported for high contact

I reckon that's the way it is heading. "an eye for an eye" penalty system. The nonsensical nature of penalty by injury is an innocuous bump can cause maximum damage and a line up from 5 metres and take the head can cause nil damage. Is anyone in any doubt that if the Oliver tackle had resulted in Young spending a couple of weeks on the sideline that he would have only got a fine ? In my mind Cameron got 4 weeks purely based on the outcome of the injury - whilst he needed to be suspended for choosing to bump, jumping off the ground and taking the head he is unlucky due to the severity of the damage - I have seen a lot worst bumps cause a lot less damage. -
The Ox's opinion was considered, but poorly considered as there are no facts to back up his assertions of "disgraceful kicking". No shades of grey here - just an opinion that is factually wrong. Jesse was obviously asked the question about it and he answered it. If we want to remove no win comments, how about journalists think about what the say before saying it - including the Ox.
-
As has been pointed out - Jesse doesn't have the leg that Schwarz has and that could be to do with his action. Bottom line is Hogan's kicking whilst fair from technically perfect has been effective.
-
I think the statement from Schwarz was absurd. He based his comments on one bad shank and a near miss. "It could take $400K off his contract" - As Hogan points out - his conversion rate is exceptional - his style just looks really ugly. Schwarz got the right whack he deserved in this instance.

Tracking better than Hudson, Lockett and Dunstall and was better last season the Luke Breust

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER

Not a hope in hell. (go team Oliver) -
I am doing some study on the French revolution and I cannot get Mel Brooks out of my head saying " it's good to be the king" ( History of the World part 1)

Funny you should mention Rick Wakeman - he toured here in smaller venues about 5 years ago. I only knew his work from Yes and his solo stuff and I got it into my head that he would be very reserved, introduce a song and then play it - minimal interaction with the audience - his look and how he performed during his heyday in those monster gigs also lead me to think of him as "about the music and no idle chit chat". He was such a surprise - played his stuff but yapped to the audience incessantly with lots of anecdotes and was a truly funny man - the best way to describe him is as " a bit of a lad". Not what I expected at all.

Saw one of my favourite quirky performers on the weekend - Kate Miller Heidke - her husband, Keir Nutall who plays with her is as fine a guitarist as you would see in this country. Kate does heart tearing ballads and then launches into the quirky with her operatic voice and very original and witty lyrics. At one stage she told a story of being dared to put a certain lyric into a song. Kate said she wouldn't tell us what the lyric was but we may notice it. Seamelessly, she managed to use the line " I touch my sausage purse" in the middle of a song. She is very unaffected, funny and ultra talented. On a different note - ( and still quirky) - seeing Steve Poltz tonight at the Caravan Club - if you get a chance to see him - do. He is fabulous.

I'm a fan of "the living end" who started life as a Stray Cats cover band. I especially like when Chris Cheney does his guitar solo standing atop his bass players double bass. Only one thing tops that - I saw the Stray Cats at the forum a few years back and the living end supported them. The living end joined the Cats on stage. Both double bass players stood next to each other, tilting their instructments to about 45 degrees and Cheney and Setzer leaped onto them and proceeded to do an elevated ripping guitar duel.

i wish you hadn't asked questions ! - I am very "lapsed"
