  1. Even as an avid disliker of Tony Abbott's policies I will agree 100% that he is a "convictions" politician. Irrespective of beliefs, I have always preferred politicians that stand for something as it makes it easier to make a voting decision as you know (in the main) what they will do in power.
  2. Nah.... more fluff - Roos was sprouting the similar stuff about Frawley and Howe. All coaches say the same thing about their charges. "he's happy here and I think he will stay". The only time I can recall that a club waved the white flag on a player staying or going was the Hawks with Buddy.
  3. I vote that we don't have any election until we get some politicians and parties of substance worth voting for. There is nothing and nobody across the entire political spectrum that exhibits any vision or leadership. I am currently practicing my mr magoo sketches to draw on my ballot card.
  4. I will get torn to strips for this but here is a couple of quotes for you "I love the club, I love all my teammates and I just want to be a part of the future at the footy club." ‘I’d love to end my career and say I was a one club player, and anticipate that will be the case,’’ His manager " You should be optimistic about him staying with Melbourne" I am not comparing Jesse in any way shape or form to the lying little weasel ( and his manager) that uttered those words but as far as I am concerned any expressions of love and loyalty by players and their managers is just fluff. I see no reason for Hogan to do anything right now with two years to run on his contract (other than play good football) . As much as I believe that Hogan could be a one in generation type footballer and we need to sign him, he will get the world thrown at him. It is completely out of our ( the supporters ) control but I also believe the club is in a good place and moving forward - we need to keep rising up the ladder to give another good reason to why he would be silly to go elsewhere. However I have been burned before by "loyal" players and as far as I am concerned I will enjoy the Hogan on field ride and his contract will be taken care of one way or another.
  5. you want good mail...here's good mail
  6. Could not have put it better !
  7. I don't mind Robbo ( with the one disclaimer - he cannot bring himself to be impartial when it comes to Essendon). He might be a bit of a buffoon but he doesn't take himself too seriously, as opposed to many of the other journalists who think they are delivering the word of god and just cant be questioned. He constantly makes a [censored] of himself but he can laugh at himself for doing so. I like the way Gerard and he feed off each other.
  8. He didn't just answer truthfully - he went on to discuss habits and standards - he was delivering a message.
  9. The pivotal match up for mine. If Gawn can decisively win this battle it will go a long way to securing a good victory.
  10. Just couldn't resist...
  11. To me it as much about reinforcing a message to the entire list as it is about chastising CP.
  12. My question is then...how can we get him to do it ?
  13. I played club song backwards and all I got was a good omen that we were going to thump the Power. I heard "I bury Port".
  14. I'd be a bit cross if there was training on good friday....
  15. I think over the journey we have seen enough players at Melbourne who have truly earned the title of unprofessional....( if only he had a full preseason....)
  16. I prefer to think of it as making a wrong choice rather than label him as unprofessional.
  17. I wouldn't lump all indiscretions in the same basket - you are 100% right IMO, in not equating what he did with getting drunk at a night club and punching on. What we do know is that footballers rehabbing do have a list of do's and don'ts. I will make an assumption that if Roos is royally ticked off as he appears to be and making comment about habits and standards, then this is an activity he should not have been doing. It's not a capital crime but I am pleased that this current regime leaves the players in no doubt as to what they believe is required to bring success.
  18. You may be right. As a generalisation - I have seen and heard from a number of artists who have certainly forgotten why they became successful. They forgot that it is us the punters that buy their albums and pay money for to see their gigs.
  19. What has Clive Palmer got to do with Jako ?
  20. Basically she is saying that her time is much more important than your time - irrespective of any inconvenience to you. Behavior like hers absolutely tells me that her ego has completely made her forget that it is us, the punters, that gave her the success she has enjoyed.
  21. I think the point is not the outcome but how the injury came about. You can trip over walking down the street, break a toe and that is plain bad luck. But is slam dunking basketballs when you are coming off a knee reconstruction smart behavior ? Roos apparently doesn't think so.
  22. How many times have we heard about our potential. It is a wonder that no one looks ahead to our potential. But they huge difference now is what I think will be called the "Roos legacy" - if he has said it once he has said it a thousand times - develop and teach, develop and teach. And the club has put it's money where Roos mouth is - Getting in coaches like McCarthy and focusing heavily on developing the talent whilst trying his best to take pressure of them by not rushing them ( although the likes of Brayshaw and Oliver have form which demands they be played early) and not placing unrealistic expectations on them.
  23. however....the press conference was at AAMI and the stage was on a north/south positioning with Jesse facing east/west - if his left eye moved but right eye didn't by my reckoning he is off to play for the Doveton Eagles.
  24. I'm doing nothing other than getting into mindless, circular arguments about a game where grown men try and kick an inflated ball through big bits of wood, with other mindless Demonlanders
  25. umm go back and have a read - there are lots of responses to that question
