In fact Bails said exactly that - "its could have been handled better but the decision was right"

I had quite forgotten how breathtakingly sexy Tom Scully was

I have a small problem with analysis by experts of lesser light footballers. If i hear one more time what an excellent kick of the football that Simon Buckley was coming from Melbourne ill vomit. Their views on footballers who they may 4 - 6 times years on many occasions leaves a lot to be desired

didnt play well at seniors - ripped it up at Casey - ticket was written ( rightly or wrongly) you arent a senior MFC player

I'd be surprised if it was that blunt. A new coach has no idea of what went down last year at the club - so whilst he would clearly spell out what is happening going forward - i would suggest he would say. "i have no idea about what you did last year but all I need to say is finishing 13th is not an option." Up until last week he was an outsider - he may thoughts on fitness and game plan but i would say that a wise coach comes in and says - last year - I only know ladder position and that is unacceptable going forward

"I want to be a one club player and I anticipate that will be the case" - Tom Scully. I am over everyones "Words" - actions..its all about actions There is a match review every week with the team - lets fast forward over Matty;s part comes up so he doesnt know where he went wrong. I find it difficult to believe that there as no discussion around his performance. But taking him completely at face value - if Matthew Warnock after watching a replay had no idea what he needed to improve then we should trade for a 100091010th draft pick. Probably what they should have done earlier is said - Matty, we see you as nothing more than depth for injuries. But to say he wasnt told where he needed to improve....spare me. He should have just said - "they are heading in a different direction"

should that be foot...mouth.....mmmffpphhhh but yes, it was deserved. -
Grain of salt. Whether you like him or not every single person on this forum have outlined his weaknesses in detail and these havent differed at all. Yet you think the coaching staff kept it a secret from him. Edit: my two cents worth- I much prefer Joel Mac - first of all Joel is way more creative and attacking. The knock on Warnock is his decision making and disposal. The knock on Joel in the main is his kicking. I dont think he generally makes poor decisions just poor execution. Also Warnock looks like he has hand grenade with no pin in his hand as soon as he gets the pill.

It has to do with him being out of contract than his value - - if a club really wants him then maybe they have to give us something to make sure he ends up there. But at the end of the day if someone is not prepared to pay he ends up in PSD,He is a footballer who has played limited 1st's for the last 2 years. Can you see anyone offering anything decent for him when there is every chance they could snaffle him for nought in the PSD ?

I find the show puerile in the extreme - then again I watch the WWE wrestling religiously. so maybe I have a twisted view of puerile. -
Yes - in the same diplomatic way he told Brock.

I am torn down the middle on my analysis of Sheedy. I can't figure out if he is vindictive, scheming, vengeful, calculating and hypocritical or if he is just plain looney tunes and has zero idea of what is coming out his mouth.

Someone will have to accept the Benedict Arnold award on his behalf.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
nutbean replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
I dont know if this has been answered but you could substitute the name Jack Viney with Cyril Rioli. There was piece on TV that was all about the problems of Cyril and his soft tissue injuries and how they are completely reprogramming his running style. I found the program a fascinating insight into how far sports science has come that they can completely re-educating a players running style. So when you say "he will have to work hard on changing his running style" it will mean that if it is indeed a problem, he will get a program and training to alter his problems. What fascinated me about this whole subject and the short doco on Rioli is, if they can go to the level they have to reprogram a running style with Rioli I cant understand why they cannot take a Reiwoldt and reprogram his kicking ? He still looks so un-co when he kicks - surely sports science can tackle this fundamental and fix it. -

I can't watch it because I have this allergic reaction to Sam Newman. Everytime I see his face my shoe ends up in my hand and then being flinged at my TV. Doctors tell me it is muscular - I had the same strange reaction to Richard Carlton. -

Since Neeld's appointment we have had two assistants and fitness manager been moved out, another assistant moved to the midfield and one more out to football manager. We have the leading fitness guru onboard and have snared a reported up and coming coaching talent from TAC. The football manager has been moved from football to admin. Now thats the bricks and mortar changes. The attitudal change that has been made ( and yes ...talk is cheap) by bringing a coach who espouses "hardness" and displays a no nonsense approach - apart from coming from the most successful team of the last two years - cannot be downplayed. I suggest that I would raise an eyebrow if Jack had said nothing has changed since Neelds appointment ( I'm thinking your statement was tongue in cheek ?) -

And you are reacting to a nonsense claim as i dont even watch the show and know that both Moloney and Green have been on the show during Baileys reign. -
Didnt realise he was out of contract. The best we can do is if he wants to go to a specific club and they want him ( rather than pot luck in the preseason draft) then we facilitate the trade with a token upgrade of a draft pick like we did with Chenney - upgrade pick 75 for pick 72

I was ridiculing myself for calling him "our next Sam Mitchell"

Royal to coach Midfield, Greaves assistant
nutbean replied to Trengove the Magnifique 9's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wouldnt have a clue how good or bad a coach Royal is or who the hell Greaves is however I do know that midfield makes the backline look better but flooding back and presenting hard and repeatedly to get the ball out of the back half. I do know that the midfield makes the forward line look better by delivering with precision and chipping in to look good. I do know that everything starts and finishes with the midfield. The four top sides have some strength in their forward or back half but all of them have star midfields. Fix our midfield problems and we are 2/3 's of the way to being a finals team. -
And a problem that I hope that Neeld will be able to solve. The footy shows ( AFL360, AFL insider), constantly show the likes of Swan and Goodes busting a gut to get from contest to contest and provide options. IMHO we have one only last year who constantly did this - Jones. Actually we had another who did this a bit too - Bartram - but I got the shakes everytime he had ball in hand. Lack of discipline ? ...yup...no respect for coaches instruction ? yup...and a fair degree of laziness and desire to work hard and present over and over again.
-
I am a massive Dawes fan ( Mister mojo risin') for one reason only ( and I will qualify this by saying he has been off the boil since his return from injury). He is defensively fantastic - 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts to chase,, harrass and keep the ball in the forward half is great. And he presents and presents again. HOWEVER - this may be able to be drilled into existing player by a good coach. It is difficult to teach Dunn or Bate to mark like Travis Cloke but you can instill a sense of desperation into them to do the hard things that Dawes does. Having hands like bear traps is a natural talent but the desire to work your arse off can be ingrained into the less talented.

Did GWS get the wrong man - absolutely - for $2M in the first year I would have gone for two weeks @$77K and called the whole thing square.
-
I've said this a million times but if I was kicking out from Full back last year I would feel sick seeing 15 concrete statues wearing the Melbourne jumper. If your team-mates are not prepared to work hard to create options for you - it wouldnt matter if Scarlett, Silvagni, or Bob Murray were kicking out..

Are you talking about me or Mark Neeld ?
