Brett Lovett...too much weight, too slow and an absolute gun. Rarely beaten one on one and very creative - loved him as a footballer.
-
The spirit of Norm Smith unfortunately can't make it - something about a calf strain - 4-6 weeks.
-
if I play my cards right, I might get a Freddie Clutterbuck tonight. ( neh...dream on)

I go to festivals with my girlfriends 21 year old son as she point blank refuses. At BDO he made me watch Northlane - and thought it amusing to position me, a 55 year old bloke, before they came on stage, exactly where he thought the circle pit would form. Needless to say - I barely got out alive and did require a change of pants. ( will say that I quite enjoyed Amity Affliction) Do you like Avenged Sevenfold ?
-
Satyricon live ! Do they speak to all the Melbourne players on stage ?
-
This is something I am not going to lose one minutes sleep over.

x-cruciating to watch ?

You know you can get help for those voices..

Like Judd, whose return has now been pushed out by another 2 weeks, I don't place much emphasis on when players are due back because some injuries heal quicker than others, some players with identical injuries heal quicker than other players, some players can play with niggles and others can't, some players are actually not all that honest with medical staff in their hunger to get on the park. I question anyone who goes to the bank with the guesstimates any clubs present as to when a player will return. Its taken it with a grain of salt. I will agree that I believe for memberships sake and the like clubs will present a more optimistic estimate rather than tell supporters that there is chance that "you'll never see Mitch Clark in a Melbourne jumper again". ( as some on here have suggested)

but ..but... but ..wait...if that is mistake from this year how the hell are we going to blame Neeld for that ?
-
Yes - why not blame Neeld for these two as well. Seriously - the stuff that Neeld did do was bad enough without having to saddle him with this extraneous nonsense as well.
-
My first thought too when I saw it - or the landscape 5 minutes after the final siren MFC vc WCE
-
I left the ground Saturday hobbling and distressed.

I have faith in you. If Bartlett and Tuck could do it - so can you !

Hey Rhino - please clear it through me first if you want to use Yiddish - the word is schtook ( or stuk). And Essendon are so far up Schtook Street it ain't funny. ( Schtik is humor or comedy routine - my schtik also ain't funny) -
"dennis" is definitely one of those left wing loonies I keep hearing about.

like he plays his football ( low blow - couldn't resist....)

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
nutbean replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is available for next years draft I believe and he was at preseason - apparently goes ok and there is the romantic notion of him playing for the club ( Billy dreams of it) - apart from that - the rest is guesswork. -

Interesting that so many are making assessment of where he should be selected based on the heresay of experts - with no-one really having seen him play too much - probably the same experts who had Scully and Trengove ahead of Martin, who had Toumpas ahead of Wines and Salem ahead of Dunstan. We listen to these experts when it suits us - right up until the draft pick goes pear-shaped then "our recruiters are incompetent and should have known better". -
He ran it past Christopher Pyne didn't he ? ( I read he had advised the Queen). Ok - cheap shot, uneccessary, in poor taste and beneath me. I apologise for the post and it was uncalled for but I was just getting in practice for when 18c goes.

I think you expect a magic wand. It was announced this morning at Carlton that Judd's resumption has been put back 2 weeks as his recovery had not come on as quickly as anticipated I am not sure what you mean by ."As soon as the fixture came out, it was obvious this seasons first round was pretty much make or break." . Are you suggesting that programs are not tailored to get all players available for round one ? Are you suggesting that Dawes niggles were mishandled or that every effort was not made to get him ready for round one. I find that extraordinary. If you are suggesting that Dawes/Jamar have bodies that can't cope with the rigours of AFL anymore then this can be debated. All Misson is doing is giving the latest known assessment ( you do realise also that Dawes did play half a practice match and it was anticipated that his load would step up but the calf gave him trouble again ?). I think the expectation is way too high that medical staff can give an accurate assessment on a highly tuned athletes injuries. The expectation that a body will always heel to a stated timeline is just not the case. I found it interesting hearing about Jesse Hogans injury that the assessment can only made by symptoms - meaning MRI's/scans and the like won't give an indication as to how the injury is going. It will purely be based on how his back is feeling. Try and make an accurate prediction of when he will back based on that !

From now on I will be known as Sir Nutbean

What points you to them being incompetent ? You stated the BS about Mitch's niggle only being 2-3 weeks. You do realise now that from what the club has advised that it is not his niggles that is stopping him from being on the track ? You want to blame his woes on the medical and training staff ? As to the other injuries at the club - this is a contact sport and there are some footballers that have ongoing problems or are more susceptible to injuries than others at the club. Every club has its injuries, every club has its late starters, every club has durable players and every club has perennial fragile players. I don't think our medical staff is any better or worse than other clubs. What I will comment on ( and it may be hyperbole) that with the arrival of Misson he has put the club on a path to markedly increase the overall fitness of our players.

I think there were a number on here who wanted him at the MFC. I am still an advocate on not drafting on ability alone. You need rounded footballers with strong character to go with pure talent. Having said that, it hasn't seemed to do us much good to date.
