  1. It may be a case of the longer vandenBerg is out the better he gets but I really think he could fit right in to this strong tackling and aggressive team.
  2. Austin has a younger brother (Jensen) who is 14 years old. If he is any good at football it’s about time he concentrated on basketball for a few years.
  3. That’s true but I don’t believe it was the AFL’s nostalgic desire to "save the oldest football club in the world" but rather because they had signed a media deal to provide 9 games a week. I think the only bit of decent timing we had over that time was not to have our near death experience in the last year of that deal. Pretty much the prlcks had no choice but to throw out the life bouy
  4. I must admit I’m coming around on the new age colour tv -> disco blue clash shirt. Having watched Melbourne in the original incarnation I associated that jumper with losing - often and by a lot. Now it has grown on me. Amazing what a few decent wins will do!
  5. There was a photo on Demonland a while back of Mark Bradtke standing next to Max Gawn and it was the first time I’ve seen Max look ‘small’ in comparison to the the bloke standing next to him. Mark must be a huge man. I remember him being pretty mobile in his time too. Also very good to hear that Austin skills are already pretty good, that’s 80% of the battle with big blokes and given the athletic basketball background it’s not hard to get excited about him. An end of season taster debut Rnd 20, 2020?
  6. Very athletic and very tall. Could be the draft bargain of the century but either way there is very little down side..
  7. I don’t want him at Melbourne at all. But if he did come I’d want a camera trained on Tex the moment he is told that Lynch is buggering off to the Dees. Actually you may as well tell him about Sloane at the same time.

I reckon Josh Kelly only re-signed so he could chase the on field success everyone thought was coming. Quick two year contract taking him through to the end of ‘19 and then back home. Success or not i think you’ll see a number of GWS players heading home before their best playing days are over. Hopefully we will be able to benefit from this.
  9. It’s a bloody miracle considering what we have been through
  10. By memory a membership doesn’t count unless it is $50+. I thought the $1 thing was a good plan by the Saints. You had to give your details so if you didn’t follow through the Club could contact you. As you’d already signed up you must have had some interest in the Club. Smart move by the Club

He is talking about the points system given to each draft number. Our first round pick last year (pick 10) plus our first round pick this year (say pick 11) minus the second rounder they give back to us = pick five. PS. I may have missed another piece PPS. I’m just happy they reckon we will have some salary cap space left!
  12. His first year he was the contested marking king and really coming to notice by making Rance look like just another defender. He won the 2015 rising star, the first forward since Nick Riewoldt in 2002. Melbourne were average, it was all about Jesse. IN 2016 it was the poor body language, the suspect kicking action and the never ending will he or won’t he leave 18 months BEFORE his contract was due to finish. Melbourne were average, it was all about Jesse Last year the poor bastard had the well documented year from hell. Melbourne were ok but there was a lot about Jesse. This year Jesse is currently 4th in the Coleman kicking a very economical 20 goals 8. He is racking up midfielder disposal numbers whilst running further than nearly all others. Melbourne are quite good but it’s not about Jesse. I get the feeling that he is way happier and plays better when he just part of a team and it’s not about him..

Looking forward to it oh Pineapple one

To me Tyson will prove to bit of a barometer. The day that he is in form but can’t get a game with us will be the day we are a proper side with a proper midfield.
  15. Yep it is amazing. Last night on 360 Robbo went through Bombers’ tale of woe he almost implied Bomber had no choice but to end up where he is now. At one stage neither Robbo or Whately said anything at all and I thought they were having an impromptu minutes silence. If the guy is guilty I hope they lock him up.
  16. Even after just one game it’s not hard picture Charlie Spargo in there with Viney in the future..

  18. Just watched the replay and saw Spargo having a go at Goddard again in the context of the match. Whatever you think of Goddard he is a 300 gamer, former captain of his club and dual All Australian player. For Spargo, the smallest bloke on the field but, more importantly, a first gamer to push Jones aside so he could get a better purchase on Goddard I found extraordinary. The kid has chutzpah. It made me laugh..

I don’t seem to be able to copy it across but in the game day thread Deestroy All said ”If your life depended on Dom Tyson hitting a target how would you kill yourself?" In a sea of silky left footers we traded for the exception to the rule.
  20. And at some stage during that meeting Oscar’s manager will say "so Lever’s on $800,000”.....
  21. Play nice Luci, Collingwood hasn’t made finals in donkeys so Anzac Day is their Grand Final
  22. @praha one more to cross off in the opening post. Finals next
  23. Wasn’t there a picture recently of Mark Bradtke with Gawn down at the Club? He was big enough that he made Gawn look normal size. @Satyriconhome do you know what Mark was doing at the Club? I had not heard of Austin till just now but if at 17 he is already 205cm and is athletic as described then I desperately want him at our Club.
  24. I am against pokies but I am for a strong and stable cashflow for the Club. Makes me concerned how they will replace the lost revenue
  25. Top speed maybe, I don’t know, but he has an awesome first couple of steps
