  1. Good luck to him. He can’t knock back a 3 year contract. Hopefully he gets over his injury woes and plays some good footy just not against us.
  2. Yep then Jesse can say "I was always happy to stay at Melbourne, I love the city and the Club for standing by me during some difficult times" or "its been a difficult few years for me and coming back home with the chance of a new start can only be a good thing"
  3. I understand what you are saying but Spargo was pick 29 and Fritsch 31. There were 47 picks after Fritsch (Jarrod Garlett - Carlton was pick 78) so neither were late picks
  4. And Kelly can commence Operation Get Extra Zero on Contact before Saying No, No, No to North.
  5. Yes fwiw the footy journo I know through work mentioned that while there were always divisions within clubs there are more than the usual group of unhappy campers at Freo. It could be an interesting ride for Hogan if he ends up there
  6. Having Alistair Clarkson as coach helps your destination club status.
  7. Oh my that kid is unique Wherever he ends up he will put bums on seats
  8. Fair enough, my info may well prove to be wrong but the person who told me is close enough to know. Do you know what the feeling is about Lyon?
  9. This has got me completely stuffed. Surely you play footy for the success? If you are a Gaff standard player then you will have a choice of good clubs whose lists are primed for success. If it comes down to the dollars then pick the one who has the most room in their cap. I get if you are a Tyson or Kent grade player then your options will be limited, fair enough you have fewer choices and go where you can. For Gaff, however, he has actively chosen a Club that plays predominantly in Tassie or at Etihad. They have an average list and a crap jumper (admittedly I probably place more importance on this than he does) and he will rarely play in front of large crowds (think of all the times our players have mentioned when interviewed the 90,000+ crowds - the joy in Harmesy voice when talking about getting stuck into Selwood on the Members wing in the elinination final). Gaff can forget about all that. Most importantly though can anyone see Nth challenging for a flag in the near future? To me it's madness that he has chosen them
  10. Re the Langdon brothers (aside from watching Tom's bloody good GF game I know bugger all about them). Not exactly Melbourne related but... Ed is contracted with Freo till end of '19 but is keen to move on. Tom has fielded inquiries from a number of Clubs but would be unlikely to go to Freo There is no surprise about Jesse wanting to go back to Perth but some surprise about going to Freo as 'no one wants to play under Lyon'
  11. I’ve got no idea about him but given you think he would be “one of the most talented on our list” and could be a “revelation” what do you think would be a fair pick for him?
  12. “Open to a trade", you’d think he would jump at any offer of an inside mid spot. He can’t play anywhere else on the ground and he is about 6th in line at Melbourne. Goneski you would imagine
  13. True or not I think that was somehow picked up by supporters. Recently there was a thread on here about favourite players; Gawn, Oliver and Jetta were the favourite favourites but Hogan, our leading goal kicker at the time, hardly cracked a mention
  14. Supposedly he is best mates with Harmes. A couple of seasons ago it would have been hard to believe that James would be more important to our future success than Jesse.
  15. Agree. And he would compliment ours perfectly
  16. Our last four winning games; Eagles in Perth, GWS, Geelong and Hawthorn we kept the opposition to an average 66 points. This is with a backline that we will add Lever to next year. We already know that he will improve us considerably. Adding May will cost a minimum of a top ten pick which I believe could be better used as opportunities arise. The worse case scenario is we end up with very good pick in a supposed super draft Furthermore if you were either Oscar or Frostie you would be seriously ‘exploring your options’. I appreciate I am in the minority here but I’m happy to pass on May unless he comes relatively cheaply which isn’t going to happen
  17. Thanks for the info Jane. I must admit I don’t understand the need. Trading May in will require us to spend a fair bit of the capital we get from any Hogan trade, in terms of salary cap and picks, on yet another key defender (Lever, Frost, O Mac, Petty, Keilty) Yes May would improve our back six to a degree but at significant cost.
  18. Are there any lightning fast blokes amongst that lot? Given how seriously the teams seem to take this we should have trotted out Jordan Lewis as our rep.
  19. Love the podcast, listen to it every week. Thank you for making the effort to put it together I do like the @binman ‘winning every week since he’s been on’ lucky charm and the sense of unease that was caused when you realised he may not be able to call in. We all know superstitions aren’t real but better to be safe than sorry. Like probably a lot on here we have a collection of Melbourne scarves that, if sewn together, could stretch to the moon and back. For the past weeks my family (inc our woof - see avatar) have been wearing the exact same scarf, sitting in the same couch spots while watching the game at home. Last week was the first in the run that I was going to be with them and there was some talk that I wouldn’t be allowed to join them in my own house in case I stuff up the run of luck!
  20. I believe the MFC should use our stereotype to its advantage particularly as we become regular finals participants. Most people aspire to better things. They may not be Range Rovers or trips to the snow but we all look up at different times. We should be the team that the younger generations barrack for when they are looking for a club that mirrors their aspirations. As the poster 2 above implied who really wants to be linked to Joffa? We are already half way there. We play at possibly the best stadium in the world, definitely in this country and our history is arguably that of the oldest football club in the world. We are the oldest and the best.

  23. I liked BT meeting Nevs parents. They deserve some sort of award for producing a son like him. I also liked when Frosty was interviewed on the MFC podcast during the week. Sam was asked "who he most looked up to at the Club" It took him no thought at all to nominate Nev for not just what he did on the field but for his closeness to his family and his work in the indigenous community. Frost said that we all have 24 hours a day but Nev makes the most of every one. BT plays the fool, and maybe one for all I know, but I do like the ‘inner access’ it provides mug punters like me.
  24. Pedo is a cut above in this comp but not quite an AFL player
