  1. Let’s face it the ‘no third man up’ rule has helped Gawn become the dominant ruckman that he is. This rule change has helped us immeasurably The 6-6-6 rule should also provide us with an advantage; dominant ruck to dominant mods. Perhaps that’s why we have recruited Pruess so that when Gawn has his six or so minutes a quarter resting we don’t lose much. A team that really gets on top at centre clearances could make for some seriously lop sided scores. Think the recruitment of May will benefit us with the new kick in rule. May is a lovely long and accurate kick that should provide opportunities for very quick transition. As Binman said there are bound to be unintended consequences but overall you would think these rule changes will generally be great for us.
  2. Love that match up, ultimate one-on-one. Wonder who would have the upper hand? Nev by a whisker perhaps? Brilliant photo Dazzle, thanks
  3. I agree with almost everything you wrote aside from the vomiting on Tom Scully as if it was a bad thing.
  4. If Victoria Park is actually contaminated and potentially dangerous to the players health would that rule us out but the Bombers in?
  5. And doesn't he look ecstatic! I imagine it is how its meant to be but the further down the track, the less unhappy I am that he left
  6. I know it is not the first time this sentiment has been expressed but the Club had decided before the end of the season that both parties would be better off if Jesse was to head back West. This is coming from an ex 20+ year employee and a life member of the MFC
  7. Max kicked 13.12 this season (thought it would be more) and has 51.40 over his career. Don’t know about set shots but can’t remember him having too many snaps or shots on the run
  8. And Petracca!
  9. Freo kicked less goals than every other team this season bar Carlton and Gold Coast. And now an average midfield just got worse by losing it’s dual B & F winner. Jesse is going to miss the record number of inside 50’s that our mids supplied this year. It maybe worthwhile watching Freo games next year to see just how many games it will take for a Jesse body language meltdown.
  10. This is where Sam has Jesse covered already. It used to frustrate me no end that for a supposedly super competitive bloke Hogan never bought full intensity to his tackling side. Hogan has never made this type of tackle Weid did on Dangerfield on the members wing (1.53)
  11. Im guessing the quote isn’t accurate as for some reason I can’t open the article but has Jesse just said he is happy to be home but doesn’t expect to play finals? Dockers supporters are going to be stoked to hear that.
  12. Given Preuss has come from another club should 37 go to Bradtke as the junior ruck?
  13. Often you look at old clips and it looks like old fashioned football. Sean Wight could slot easily into our current side. Goodwin would love him.
  14. Feels like this is now the trade game day thread. At least we know something will happen today.
  15. No footy bubble and a better music scene than Perth
  16. It could be a very short tenure for Peter Bell if he walks away from this trade period without their two B & F winner in Neale or Jesse Hogan. The pressure is on them. They will cave
  17. Well at least this confirms Jesse’s foot is ok. He should put it up Peter Bells end
  18. Yep then Jesse can say "I was always happy to stay at Melbourne, I love the city and the Club for standing by me during some difficult times" or "its been a difficult few years for me and coming back home with the chance of a new start can only be a good thing"
  19. I understand what you are saying but Spargo was pick 29 and Fritsch 31. There were 47 picks after Fritsch (Jarrod Garlett - Carlton was pick 78) so neither were late picks
  20. And Kelly can commence Operation Get Extra Zero on Contact before Saying No, No, No to North.
  21. Yes fwiw the footy journo I know through work mentioned that while there were always divisions within clubs there are more than the usual group of unhappy campers at Freo. It could be an interesting ride for Hogan if he ends up there
  22. Oh my that kid is unique Wherever he ends up he will put bums on seats
  23. This has got me completely stuffed. Surely you play footy for the success? If you are a Gaff standard player then you will have a choice of good clubs whose lists are primed for success. If it comes down to the dollars then pick the one who has the most room in their cap. I get if you are a Tyson or Kent grade player then your options will be limited, fair enough you have fewer choices and go where you can. For Gaff, however, he has actively chosen a Club that plays predominantly in Tassie or at Etihad. They have an average list and a crap jumper (admittedly I probably place more importance on this than he does) and he will rarely play in front of large crowds (think of all the times our players have mentioned when interviewed the 90,000+ crowds - the joy in Harmesy voice when talking about getting stuck into Selwood on the Members wing in the elinination final). Gaff can forget about all that. Most importantly though can anyone see Nth challenging for a flag in the near future? To me it's madness that he has chosen them
  24. I’ve got no idea about him but given you think he would be “one of the most talented on our list” and could be a “revelation” what do you think would be a fair pick for him?
  25. “Open to a trade", you’d think he would jump at any offer of an inside mid spot. He can’t play anywhere else on the ground and he is about 6th in line at Melbourne. Goneski you would imagine
