  1. None of what that bloke says make much sense aside from calling Essendon the Drug Cheats. I liked his use of capitals
  2. His first year he was the contested marking king and really coming to notice by making Rance look like just another defender. He won the 2015 rising star, the first forward since Nick Riewoldt in 2002. Melbourne were average, it was all about Jesse. IN 2016 it was the poor body language, the suspect kicking action and the never ending will he or won’t he leave 18 months BEFORE his contract was due to finish. Melbourne were average, it was all about Jesse Last year the poor bastard had the well documented year from hell. Melbourne were ok but there was a lot about Jesse. This year Jesse is currently 4th in the Coleman kicking a very economical 20 goals 8. He is racking up midfielder disposal numbers whilst running further than nearly all others. Melbourne are quite good but it’s not about Jesse. I get the feeling that he is way happier and plays better when he just part of a team and it’s not about him..
  3. Quadruple like. Neeld no doubt gave it his best Essendon can go [censored] themselves
  4. Wonder if Harley Balic could develop into the Vince/Lewis role?
  5. This just proves AFL footballers aren’t too smart. After all the carry on last week with Hawkins you would think the "Don’t touch the umpire, there are consequences" message would have got through. For the sake of the lower grades and kids level footy both Curnows and May should go for a week. It would reinforce the rule and show consistency by the tribunal. Having said that I think they will all get off..
  6. I think it is more just people looking at the stat sheet than any particularly knowledgeable assessment. They never seem to actually highlight when Clayton has obviously missed the opportunity to kick. Certainly his coach doesn’t perceive it as being a problem. He has brilliant hands, awareness and decision making. He is a great height for a midfielder, is strong and has good speed, particularly the all important first few steps. He is very good above his head and incredible below his knees. He has good endurance which will get better still. He is super combative and won’t take a backward step. He is a ball magnet and we know, that when he does kick, he kicks bloody well - both long and short. He has no perceivable flaws. And not that it counts towards this argument but he seems to deeply love playing for our club. I just can’t see any of the others getting close.
  7. Put down your glasses, this race has already been run and won. The chances of anyone even getting close to Oliver is remote. The kid is a dead set freak without any perceivable flaws. The others can aspire to being merely great.
  8. Of the rotatiing 4 talls Lucifer there are generally only two playing forward at any one time. Either Max or Weids as the centre ruck and perhaps McDonald on the wing. Other times Jesse started in the square. This means Petracca is still nominally the third marking option although Hannan and Fritsch are obviously good above their heads too. Petracca is a confidence player playing without confidence. It will come.
  9. Wife has volunteered today, god bless her. Apparently the fishing has been quite good and the big croc is out sunning himself.
  10. Crap wish I had your confidence Pineapple. To me this is definition of classic Melbourne DANGER GAME!!! We are the better team on paper, are favourites to win, should win and pretty much everyone on here expects to win. What could possibly go wrong.... See you at the Central.
  11. One of the things that differentiates Australian rules footy from other sports is that no two grounds are exactly the same. It is one aspect that helps make our game unique. It is something that should be embraced.
  12. On AFL 360 this week Riewoldt was saying that before he was drafted Clayton played 19th man for the Richmond VFL side a few times. Even as a pie-eating kid he was that good that he earned the nickname "Guru"
  13. Generally it is hard to care about admin comings and goings but when I heard that Jackson was leaving I had the same reaction as if a gun player was departing the club.
  14. Melbourne Football Club Suporter Syndrome. A syndrome suffered by long term supporters of this club who have been afflicted with constant disappointment, let down and plain bad luck. A recent example would be the statistically small chance of missing finals at then end of Rnd 22 last year and then actually missing finals by a statistically tiny amount. 186, nine coaches in a decade, a club near extinction, Jimmy Toumpas and HWSNBN. We won’t talk about Jack Watts.
  15. Fritsch. Early days but that left boot is, so far, a thing of beauty. Seems to make good decisions and obviously good above his head too Salem. Can kick, makes good decisions Spargo. Yeah right O, right O he will never look like Isaac Smith gracefully running down the wing but has anyone seen him waste a possession yet? Small sample group like Fritsch but always seems to put it to the favour of the receiving player. We want the ball in Charlie’s hands.
  16. Looking forward to it oh Pineapple one
  17. To me Tyson will prove to bit of a barometer. The day that he is in form but can’t get a game with us will be the day we are a proper side with a proper midfield.
  18. Just quietly I don’t think Jordan Lewis’s game has received the attention it deserves. I haven’t been his biggest fan since he arrived here and thought he hadn’t shown much of those elite kicking skills he was renowned for at the Hawks. Having said that he was bloody good yesterday Disposal efficiency stats don’t show the whole story but 23 possessions at 91% is a true reflection of his day. He was almost flawless with ball in hand. Also that fist from behind that resulted in a goal for us showed his desperation even well into the last quarter when the game was already won. His best game in the red and blue.
  19. Is this the first time McCartin and Petracca have played against each other? From the same draft year Lever and OMc should find themselves on Paddy during the match PS. Just found this 2014 HS article saying St Kilda would take Petracca. Thank god they didn’t http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/st-kilda/christian-petracca-set-to-join-st-kilda-with-no1-draft-pick/news-story/c481c0de624fae589da45dc449a9219c
  20. And apparently as well as playing for both clubs twice Carl also Captained both clubs and won each clubs B & F. There actually should be some sort of official recognition for this. That is one hell of a record.
  21. Yep it is amazing. Last night on 360 Robbo went through Bombers’ tale of woe he almost implied Bomber had no choice but to end up where he is now. At one stage neither Robbo or Whately said anything at all and I thought they were having an impromptu minutes silence. If the guy is guilty I hope they lock him up.
  22. If anyone is looking for a definition of "a very Melbourne thing to do" I think we have a contender.
  23. Crikeys Jim. The Melbourne Football Club not based at the MCG is not the Melbourne Football Club. Other teams grew from their suburbs or cities, we are born from our ground. Like many here I am the most rusted on of member but I probably wouldn’t support the Club if based elsewhere. I believe the Club would quickly cease to exist.
  24. Even after just one game it’s not hard picture Charlie Spargo in there with Viney in the future..
