Sorry I know it wasn’t directed at me but I couldn’t remember the trading they did in 2015 draft to get Oliver so l looked it up. Melbourne gave up Pick 6 Pick 29 and Our 2016 first round pick which ended up being pick 9 Gold Coast gave us Pick 3 (that ended up being 4) Pick 10 and Pick 43 So that all looks pretty fair pick wise to both clubs but we ended up with Oliver so it is a monster, monster, monster win to us.

Agree. Joel needs a full, injury free pre-season and then a consistent run of games early in the season The Club obviously rate him and it would be fantastic to see just what he is capable of

I think this rule change has been overlooked. It could be huge for us and anyone else with a tall, dominant ruck. Gawn, who generally gets first hands on the ball, will be able to do a quick, clearing handball to our mids. He should be even more important next year. Preuss at 206cm could also be handy and Bradtke is same height (?). This could inadvertently be the biggest of all the rule changes for us. I look forward to hearing training reports over the summer as to how they practice for this change Get on Maxy for the 2019 Brownlow

2018 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He just needs a good pre-season....... -
Someone with a better memory than will no doubt correct me but I thought it was actually Ferguson who said no I’m not leaving.
-
It could be a very short tenure for Peter Bell if he walks away from this trade period without their two B & F winner in Neale or Jesse Hogan. The pressure is on them. They will cave
-
Well at least this confirms Jesse’s foot is ok. He should put it up Peter Bells end
-
Good luck to him. He can’t knock back a 3 year contract. Hopefully he gets over his injury woes and plays some good footy just not against us.
-
Yep then Jesse can say "I was always happy to stay at Melbourne, I love the city and the Club for standing by me during some difficult times" or "its been a difficult few years for me and coming back home with the chance of a new start can only be a good thing"

I understand what you are saying but Spargo was pick 29 and Fritsch 31. There were 47 picks after Fritsch (Jarrod Garlett - Carlton was pick 78) so neither were late picks -
And Kelly can commence Operation Get Extra Zero on Contact before Saying No, No, No to North.

Yes fwiw the footy journo I know through work mentioned that while there were always divisions within clubs there are more than the usual group of unhappy campers at Freo. It could be an interesting ride for Hogan if he ends up there
-
Having Alistair Clarkson as coach helps your destination club status.
-
Oh my that kid is unique Wherever he ends up he will put bums on seats

Fair enough, my info may well prove to be wrong but the person who told me is close enough to know. Do you know what the feeling is about Lyon?
-
This has got me completely stuffed. Surely you play footy for the success? If you are a Gaff standard player then you will have a choice of good clubs whose lists are primed for success. If it comes down to the dollars then pick the one who has the most room in their cap. I get if you are a Tyson or Kent grade player then your options will be limited, fair enough you have fewer choices and go where you can. For Gaff, however, he has actively chosen a Club that plays predominantly in Tassie or at Etihad. They have an average list and a crap jumper (admittedly I probably place more importance on this than he does) and he will rarely play in front of large crowds (think of all the times our players have mentioned when interviewed the 90,000+ crowds - the joy in Harmesy voice when talking about getting stuck into Selwood on the Members wing in the elinination final). Gaff can forget about all that. Most importantly though can anyone see Nth challenging for a flag in the near future? To me it's madness that he has chosen them

Re the Langdon brothers (aside from watching Tom's bloody good GF game I know bugger all about them). Not exactly Melbourne related but... Ed is contracted with Freo till end of '19 but is keen to move on. Tom has fielded inquiries from a number of Clubs but would be unlikely to go to Freo There is no surprise about Jesse wanting to go back to Perth but some surprise about going to Freo as 'no one wants to play under Lyon'

I’ve got no idea about him but given you think he would be “one of the most talented on our list” and could be a “revelation” what do you think would be a fair pick for him? -
“Open to a trade", you’d think he would jump at any offer of an inside mid spot. He can’t play anywhere else on the ground and he is about 6th in line at Melbourne. Goneski you would imagine
-
True or not I think that was somehow picked up by supporters. Recently there was a thread on here about favourite players; Gawn, Oliver and Jetta were the favourite favourites but Hogan, our leading goal kicker at the time, hardly cracked a mention
-
Supposedly he is best mates with Harmes. A couple of seasons ago it would have been hard to believe that James would be more important to our future success than Jesse.
-
Agree. And he would compliment ours perfectly

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
FarNorthernD replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our last four winning games; Eagles in Perth, GWS, Geelong and Hawthorn we kept the opposition to an average 66 points. This is with a backline that we will add Lever to next year. We already know that he will improve us considerably. Adding May will cost a minimum of a top ten pick which I believe could be better used as opportunities arise. The worse case scenario is we end up with very good pick in a supposed super draft Furthermore if you were either Oscar or Frostie you would be seriously ‘exploring your options’. I appreciate I am in the minority here but I’m happy to pass on May unless he comes relatively cheaply which isn’t going to happen
