Not nearly enough love for Bret Bailey on here for my liking. Was a big part of our success in the drought breaking ‘87 finals year. At his best he was one of those blokes who could stand in the same spot for about five minutes and no one could touch him. Fair to say he had a low centre of gravity. Neat kick, great hands

I was recently speaking to a copper who said in his area 80% of his work involved attending domestic violence situations. Take away the alcohol and his workload drops by 50%. As he said d1ckhead blokes don’t become any more reasonable when on the grog.

Yes James is living our dream; passionate supporter becomes much loved and integral member of the team. Love it! PS Also love that he has got better with each year. He has surprised me how good he has become

If that’s true it is good for us I think GWS will have had four weeks less training, still bringing their many injured players back and still getting up to speed. In theory we should hit the ground running,

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
FarNorthernD replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Langdon, Tomlinson, pick 3, pick 8 and a fit Bennell for nix. If you’re not happy with that trade period you are just plain miserable -
We all know he needs to work on his tank and this pretty much confirms it. Going by that video quarter by quarter goals kicked (unknown = 1) Q1. 9 Q2. 5 Q3. 5 Q4. 1

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
FarNorthernD replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
A hypothetical; which club gets the better deal? Carlton get a fully fit, 24y.o Jack Martin for free but at $700k a year Or Melbourne get a fully fit 27y.o Harley Bennell for free at minimum wage -
West Coast first up out West. Friggin brilliant motivation all pre-season long. Love it

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
FarNorthernD replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know this is from all the way back to 2014 but my oh my Harley can play. Big if’s but if we get him and if he is injury free at 27 yo he could still be in his prime. It is sort of like buying a lotto ticket, it is nice to dream -
In other fixture news: ■ Melbourne will head interstate for the first game of the season. ■ North Melbourne was slated to take on St Kilda their Round 1 game. ■ Geelong will be taking their handbags ..... it is a weird stat that we haven’t played interstate since 1998. Hasn’t helped us and can’t begrudge an away game to start the year

Agree with you Lucifer that this looks like a good football draw for us. We play 3 out of the four expansion teams but only 1 of the three top teams from conference A last year. And we aren’t scheduled to play Adelaide, well, till finals anyway. Also there is some new player called Daisy who should be a handy addition for us, Birch will be a top 5 player and Pearce just won the Brownlow of the VFLW. Fingers crossed the domino’s will fall our way next year. PS. Does O’dea remain Captain or was she just holding onto it for the year?

I won’t say how I know but Daff’s departure had way more to do with the arrival at the end of 2011 of a certain Assistant Collingwood coach with a twitchy eye problem and the MFC’s board who blindly backed him.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-10-03/ive-grown-as-a-person-prospect-finds-positives-after-knee-reco Sounds like another Club will take a chance on him before he gets to our pick 97

Viney's Northern Adventure with Young Dees
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nothing story but it is the off-season So I went to see Zombieland 2 (7.5/10) at the Smithfield Cinema north of Cairns last week. Shopping in Woolies afterwards and the bloke walking past me In aisle 3 looks like the co-captain of the MFC. He was out of context so I don’t pay much attention but he bobs up again in aisle 5 and I have a better look and he is a dead ringer for Jack but he looks a bit too much like he has been in the top paddock for an AFL footballer (they always look slighter and skinnier than what you expect). Turns out it was him and I’m glad I didn’t know or I may have started talking football to him and then I would have been embarrassed to hassle him on his holidays. -
2019 Player Reviews: #21 Braydon Preuss
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If he wants to play in the same side as Max he had better get a tank and be consistent taking marks In the forward line. He needs to make defenders fear his abilities in the air otherwise they will just continually run off him. If he can do these two things he will be more than useful. Unfortunately being humongous Isn’t enough on its own -
Would take that in a heart beat.

I voted split. The higher 1st rounder is reserved for injured, 192cm key position turned mid Kemp, the next Bont The 2nd first rounder is for best available.

Tayla Harris 61.5m. Wow!

Oh thanks, I haven’t been around for a bit.

What was the ultimatum Binman?

I was telling one of my kids that when I was a kid in the 70’s the ‘outflow’ from the urinals at Victoria Park used to run out onto the street and then down the drain. My question to anyone old enough is did this actually happen or have I made this up in my head? It seems so far away from football conditions today (And sorry I didn’t know where else to ask this question)
-
Debuting a kid just before seasons end is pretty standard procedure isn’t it? Kade will go into the next pre-season knowing exactly how hard AFL players run and what is expected. It will be a handy eye opener for him. It is about next year and how he performs tomorrow night is pretty much irrelevant
-
I agree Gawn is the obvious and probably only choice I think he would thrive on the extra responsibility of being leader. He has the personality that would embrace being captain. Could send him to a new level as a player too
-
He is his fathers son even down to the run up. Come to Melbourne Kobe

That’s why I love Demonland. From the very, very outside looking in Richo doesn’t look particularly impressive to me. Brilliant that you played under the bloke and can give some insight into how he is actually regarded. You have changed my opinion of him. Thanks
