  1. A wonderfully accurate and humorous summary of Friday’s game. Happy Sundays http://mfcdemonblog.blogspot.com/
  2. Well that’s a fair old sledge Wrecker. I remember watching Grgic and occasionally he would do something to show he had a special talent. Ended up being a poor mans Jack Watts. To continue the analogy, and Sam isn’t there yet, but he is trending towards a David Cordner trajectory. Brilliant genes and family history, can look a million dollars on the odd occasion but overall disappointing.
  3. Lever and May together down back Petracca in the middle and Fritsch forward Langdon and Tomlinson on the wings Jones forward, Lockhart back, a rejuvenated Viney and Melksham and Kozzie lurking in the pocket There is actually a lot of significant differences to last years side.
  4. Love this kid. He has the bounce and grace of a cat and the enthusiasm of a labrador. He just makes you smile He may not be ready for senior action yet but everyone here can see bits of what Luke is going to bring. He is one of those players where the crowd noise level will rise when he is near the ball. He is going to do a whole lot of funky [censored] that hasn’t been done before. Between him and Kozzie Pickett Melbourne is going to be a lot of fun to barrack for.
  5. I was concerned about Patton before the game. The bloke doesn’t have to have many shots on goal to hurt you. What I didn’t realise is how useless he is once the ball hits the ground. Zero defensive pressure. He is a well built statue. Defenders are going to run off him all year and Jon will be directly costing the Hawks goals down the other end. You gotta be happy about that!
  6. Probably the easiest way to understand it Fanatique is imagining how Adelaide supporters felt when Alex Neal-Bullen had 23 possessions, 6 marks, 6 tackles, 3 goals and 3 Brownlow votes against them in 2018.
  7. I don’t think anyone on here was expecting him till mid season. To me it is almost good news, just confirms what we already knew. Harley can build form from the back end of the season and be cherry ripe for finals. Yay!
  8. Just watched the replay and think in Trent Rivers I may have found a new favourite player for the next decade or so. Booming kick to advantage, solid build and just looks a natural footballer
  9. I know where you are coming from but Spargo was very bloody good in his first year. There are other YouTube highlights of Charlie but if Kossie did this yesterday there would be calls for a MCG stature.
  10. Anyone got an idea about the need for coyness? “The Demons were coy pre-game about Fritsch's late withdrawal, saying he was out with an illness, but Goodwin set the record straight. "He (Fritsch) had a little infection in his knee, he's been on the antibiotics so if that's a sickness then that's a sickness," he said. It just seems dumb. If he has a knee infection why wouldn’t you say he has a knee infection? Just seems pointless
  11. Living the cliche that a Melbourne side will never fail to disappoint. Annoying
  12. The Central is the AFL pub in town. Has a big screen and cold beers. When are you thinking of coming up? It has been a bit tropical up here lately
  13. An apt comparison. SOS was the definition of overrated
  14. When : Friday 21st at 7.10pm Where: RSEA Park (Moorabbin Oval) Another Friday night game for the Demons who have defeated fellow finals aspirants, the Kangaroos and the Bulldogs, over the past fortnight. We are in form and playing good, confident football. The Saints on the other hand are an expansion team coming off two losses and who have a percentage hovering around the 50 mark. This has danger game written all over it. Probably the biggest advantage we will have over the Saints is that our team has had the benefit of four years playing and training together. Even our emerging talent of Hanks, Zanker and Heath (all 20yo or younger) have had at least two years in the system, whilst some of older heads in D. Pearce, O’Dea, Paxman, Downie and Scott have been there since day one. Someone will probably prove me wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised if we have had the most stable list since the launch of AFLW. For that reason alone we should win. Go Dees
  15. For those concerned about having only Jetta chosen play this game, these are the players chosen from the teams we play in the first two weeks of the season. Yeo Sheppard Coniglio Cameron Haynes Whitfield Kelly Greene If I’m a GWS supporter in particular I’d be pooing myself about injuries to any of those players. No way I want our equivalent (Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, TMac, Viney) playing this game. It’s not worth it
  16. What did the Bulldogs coach say pineapple? Birch said something about cracks appearing in the Dogs playing list or something?
  17. I have no idea where to put this but another reason to like women’s footy. No way in the world this happens in the men’s game. All too homogenised, pasteurised, cleansed, disinfected and scripted https://womens.afl/news/45118/magpies-defender-describes-harris-as-useless-
  18. Some of Shelley Scott’s and Kate Hore’s marking would have been considered good on a dry day let alone in the pouring rain. A lot of smart plays in general too with tapping the ball over the back and trying to keep it moving our way. Played the conditions perfectly. It’s also nice coming on this AFLW match day thread and not have the “skill level isn’t as good as the men’s comp” crowd to contend with.
  19. Daisy playing with and organising the backs could end up being an inspired move. The Luke Hodge of the AFLW.
  20. I think Mick Nolan with a playing weight of 135 kg would give Sam a run for his money.
  21. Was going to go for a B & F style draw but looks as though Max has this one sewn up and I’m not going to help Oliver’s chances Gawn
  22. “The Demons hope to see Mithen and Pearce to return against Collingwood in Round 4, which would provide a major boost for their midfield.” It would be great to get through the next couple of weeks injury free and then and Pearce and Mithen for the Pies game. It would be as full strength as we are likely to be this year.
  23. Anyway back to the footy Ppaxman is a ripper isn’t she, O’Dea got better as the game went on, Hore kept us alive early, you can sort of tell Zanker loves the jumper and Birch has been a great pick up. Bloody handy to win the fist game. Keeps us on the front foot Looking forward to next Friday
