  1. If by late first rounder you mean "end of first round" which was 27 last year and will be similar this year, with the situation Adelaide are in they wont be able to get value form it until 2 years after they received it, so maybe 4 years before they get a consistent first team player with 20 games experience if they pick someone decent. I stand my comment what "reward"... do you think that is a rewarding scenario? So... maybe... your... bad!!!
  2. Was referring to a post which i thought was referring to upgrading him permanently, ie. next year.... probably looking to far ahead of myself, if so apologies
  3. It is a hard one.... i was looking at smith for his third game, dropped.... who else is there really without looking? Jacobs, would also have waited for tomorrow arvo's teams, Hibberd on his 3rd game??
  4. Why upgrade him? we have an automatic upgrade next year for not having a second veteran again? we have like 7 out of contract and need to lose like 4 yeah??? it seems rubbish list management
  5. who is he a downgrade for? not on field surely?
  6. I think this is great idea, What are these negotiable's? Living in Geelong and goiung to Uni here, i know that Geelong players Celebrate a win and go out late at night... close to what moloney got done for, etc Im talking Ling, Bartel, Chapman for starters If this could work it would go along way towards starting a level of standards in general
  7. Yeah probably does deserves a list position, i dont see who the 4 we will cut for ND positions let alone a 5th spot.... will be interesting Lets just enjoy this kid while we can
  8. What a mid 20's pick... yeah a real reward He wont be traded for anything under 20, more say under 15 Also i believe thats what was being said, there is less talent available to most clubs so that means Morton is essentially a top 15 pick this year to other clubs
  9. And Pendlebury and Thomas? where are they at, signed up like Swan yeah....
  10. Morton would fetch very well on the open market, Tambling got a end of first round selection, and Morton has shown more that him.... people who are writing the guy off are silly, the article is about how other clubs WANT THIS GUY, his attributes alone will fetch a good pick, i still wouldnt trade him not right now Also Cale will be and is far better than Jetta and Bennell, and the sad thing is he is probably harder than Bennell I will not be surprised when we see a far improved version in 2-3 weeks time
  11. I agree what you have put forward is very plausible... i hope not but is But i also think that it obviously gives those who may not have been given a chance the opportunity, and therefore these players may put in 2X the effort... really dig deep etc, and will put pressure back on spots in a month or so.... It may become a two way street with this theory A few players could have done with a look in the mirror down at the Casey dressing rooms and you are right they will get a game in the near future due to injuries
  12. Not every player is a Tom Scully, yes it sucks but this kid is one that has serious value, many of the players who have signed arnt in the same situation, i doubt many have signed by the start of round 8, let alone round 1 when everyone wanted him to. Many good players are waiting for the new salary cap etc.. Goddard, Thomas, Pendlebury, Murphy to name a few and all these players have currency and are elite performers
  13. One thing to look forward to will be in a year or so when Scully, Trengove, Moloney and Sylvia are taking all the tags, Davey can go back to looking like absolute silk until then i dont know
  14. Think that it being a bit harsh on him here, i dont know how many hit outs he got to advantage but i can tell you that "Naita" had 20 yesterday and not one went to advantage... according to the huns stats... I thought he was great at ground level, much like how i see Naitanui Play... can retrieve the ball at ground level, got it in the center sqaure and was willing to RUN with it..... wanted to take the game on, unlike many If you couldnt see he was actually having a crack yesterday then you never will, was he amazing no... but he rucked twice as much as ever before against a bigger more experienced opponent and really only lost 7 more hit outs than Goldy i think, the effectiveness may be alot different though, he may actually be alot better off for it, around the ground etc He isnt going to be a number 1 but we all saw what happened to Jamar the first game he wasnt their, it was the straw that broke the camels back....
  15. I think it is quotes like this that make people feel that there may be a problem atm.... when one of the more experienced players at your club questions weather it has anything to stand for it may indicate that there is a cultural problem of sorts... people not being willing to put it all out there etc... MELBOURNE forward Colin Sylvia says it is time for his club to "stand for something". Fortunately i feel that a lot of the younger players in Bail, Frawley, Trengove, Scully, Mckenzie along with Jones, Moloney Jamar and Sylvia put in the effort... and will bring change Lets hope that the players can actually do something about it now, like Chapman did at Geelong when it made it clear to his team mates during the 07 season that they were not putting in as hard as they could, and thought that they were better than they actually were playing. I hope someone has an honesty session at Melbourne during the week, the fact that Brereton comments on the talent our list has says something.... he also says in more flowery terms that they are also as soft and lazy as SHI&
  16. It is Hotham for me, wont be going till september though so doesnt look like i will miss a game at this tage
  17. 1 - Frawley 2 - Martin 3 - Jones 4 - Watts 5 - Newton 6 - Maric
  18. Moloney is the Truest Captain i believe we will have on our list... pity off field incidents will influence his ability to do this. Then it may be Grimes, or Scully..... who are very young like our list in general.... a big problem with our list is the lack of experience Frawley leads from the front, organises the defence, i dont know where his credentials sit at, does a good job leading game day
  19. Davey hasnt averaged higher than around 74% kicking efficiency his whole career.... does some nice things but will fluff it also, this year isnt the one i would use as an example either
  20. For what reason? are you serious? why has nobody else commented on this? Great player will never captain, has enough troubles motivating himself
  21. From what a saw on the reply at the game, he copped one in the face? is that what your talking about?
  22. Are we really talking about these??? jeez
  23. YOUNG Melbourne midfielder Jack Trengove vowed not to change his tackling style, despite losing a challenge to his three-match suspension. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-midfielder-jack-trengove-faces-afl-appeals-board/story-fn8lichg-1226054757252 just an article on jack post suspension, good to see he wont be backing down as a result of this
