  1. He's a club legend and his stats stack up well with others, however i doubt he's in line for the HoF anytime soon.
  2. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-premiership/geelong-could-snare-jared-rivers-and-jordan-gysberts-from-melbourne-demons-in-the-afl-silly-season/story-e6frf3e3-1226471545635 Same rumours, new day!
  3. i disagree, i prefer it to "generation D" and other recent ones. It also goes hand in hand with the incentives that they're putting up for peple who renew 'first' and people who roll over their memberships on the dedicated demons plan ' forever'.
  4. signed up for 2013 membership today, and choose the Dedicated Demon option where my membership will roll over 'Forever' Get on board!
  5. Gysberts is one of my favourites but i can understand if we let him go. The kid can find the ball, but if Grimes & Sylvia are playing in the midfield full time, and we draft jack viney and another young gun then i cant see him being a regular player in the 22 for a good number of years. "trade him while he has value" - we say it alot, perhaps Neeld is thinking the same thing!
  6. Thats my initial thought too, however, when i heard we were going hard for Mitch Clark i thought. No thanks, hes an over-rated ruckman surplus to our needs, gives away free kicks from trying to be a hard man and has a stupid hair cut and stupid tatts. How perspective can change when you see what role Neeld has in mind for them, and they're wearing red and blue!
  7. Hate to get all "old dee" on you, but when Clark was recruited the alure factor of the new coaching group would have been far greater than it is now. Clark would have been sold the "we got 10 wins with no key forward, you can make us into a finals contender" speech. This year it would be "we're at rock bottom, help us to get of the canvas!" Not to mention lastyear we had a midfield built around a bloke who had polled in the top 12 in the brownlow, and a seemingly potent forward line that was just missing a key forward. . I could excuse players from other clubs who thought the MFC were a sinking ship from the outside looking in.
  8. i rate his talent but he hasnt come on like i thought he would
  9. I'll always respect what Range Rover has to say as during the Tom Scully saga he was one of the only other posters who thought Scully was a lying scum!
  10. i never said it would be a good forward line!
  11. I wouldnt have a problem if we only take the approach for a year. Recently we've only drafted the talented skinny kids, finding the balance is the key
  12. I partially agree, but Fitzpatrick could haev earned a call up earlier IMO, and Cook could have played a game or so?
  13. http://demonwiki.org/tiki-index.php Not exactly what you're looking for but enough good info on that site to keep you going for hours!
  14. I would have thought that is just as much part of the Captains & Assistant coaches roles, maybe even the Football Managers & President! Creating a culture shouldnt be the head coaches sole responsibility but this year it is just about the only think Neeld has achieved, which is a sad reflection of where the club is at i guess I still would have liked to see a little more from Neeld to prove he can coach though. I have seen nothing from Neeld on game day that shows that he can manipulate the side to adapt to various situations that occur during a game. I have seen the vast majority of the list struggle with basic skill errors all year. I have seen him persist with playing Rivers and Garland up forward while we leak goals in defence. I havent seen him be able to get the most out of guys who have threatened to take the next step.
  15. Very good post Nutbean. You make some very good and well made points. No doubt that Neeld is a no-nonsence coach, which is refreshing after Danners and Bailey. My problem is that he has done absolutley nothing to suggest he can coach, thankfully Neil Craig is also around which can help us in this department.
  16. Mkinley looked ok in his first year at the Eagles, but he's a spud, make no mistake!
  17. Is this from the club? ie. we wont take him with 1st round
  18. Pre draft / trade i'm assuming it'll be something like; Tapscott Fitzpatrick Howe Davey Clark Jetta
  19. Scott Watters drafted him because he rates him. I dont think the saints would be interested in getting rid of him. Also he's not any better than average to begin with IMO
  20. Interestingly, when Hardwick culled the tigers at the end of '09 he made 12 changes all up. http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-news-sport/polak-nine-others-delisted-by-richmond-20091030-hoxy.html They shed more than 1100 games' experience.
  21. From that list the only one which i want to keep 100% is Rivers.
  22. This is why I am worried! - Neeld didnt / couldntnt get anything out of 3 of our more credentialed and proven performers
  23. I'd like the trade period to unfold to show that we’ve had a plan all along and have recruited some decent experienced players from other AFL clubs to replace Green and Moloney etc. Change for just change's sake isn’t necessarily a good thing, and I’d hope we haven’t cut them free based on a hunch that we might be able to pick up better replacements
