  1. DemonsHQ Brad Green will be on 3AW at 6:35pm tonight & Dean Bailey is 'On the Couch' (Fox Sports) at 8:30pm tonight
  2. Plus another first round pick nomination??
  3. "As you've got it pegged we're still 1 delisting short of the minimum turnover required by the AFL which is 3." So we have to de-list at least 3 players at seasons end from the senior list??
  4. Talking about this on Sunday during the game about how we used to have Optus Oval, Waverley etc. When only 18k turn up to some games why not play them in smaller venues then costing clubs $$$ playing at Etihad? I think the Ballarat and Hobart move will ease the pressure on Ethihad as less games will be played there but we need a second ground in Melbourne and unless Etihad can miraciously change the surface the AFL need to look at alternates. Any suggestions where?
  5. Agree, the best 22 is fading and horses for corses is starting to emerge. I understand your points about Aussie and he can break a game open but if you are picking a 22 to play against Brisbane from scratch Moloney and a fit McDonald are two of the first names picked and thats why I believe we will make changes to a winning (and what a win) 22. How everyone trains and what roles that will need to be played will come into consideration - who knows if we need 6 taggers next week (Junior, Dunn, Benell, Bartram, Jones & McKenzie). However it falls there are going to be some unlucky demons out there.
  6. "To qualify for the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination, a player must be under 21 years of age as at January 1 of that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season and must not have been suspended by the AFL or State League tribunals during the season." Would this mean 21 or just 20 years of age? If 20 years of age - my bad!
  7. Remember Jurrah (21 and only player 9 matches at the start of this year) is still eligable as well. Also the way Bail has played in a few games he is an outside chance as well.
  8. Agree with most but Id liek to sure up Strauss and Blease for a little bit longer as they are so young. 2 years?
  9. And your not willing to bring in arguably 3 of our best players?
  10. Nice. I've been saying the all the hawks supporters who are wondering how their backline got so good out of nowhere - its what happens when the ball spends most the time down there. Frawley has had another great season and continues to be our most impressive back but credit has to go to Garland. I was a critic at the start of the year about his position but he has proved me wrong in a big way. I cant wait till next weekend to see him take on Fev and give him a hiding! The other one who has really impressed me this year is Bartram. Im glad he was able to get a lot of the ball this week so people could start noticing the work he has been doing. He always works hard on his opponents and does the team role shutting down one of the key small forwards. I am really happy with the development of the backline and with pleanty of "back up" it should be a fortress in years to come.
  11. Any word on how everyone played this week?
  12. Really glad im not on the selection committee for Melbourne at the moment but I cant help but wonder why no one has thought of dropping Wonna. Yes he played well on the weekend but he was a late replacement for Moloney and in my opinion will probably make way. IN: Moloney, Trengove, Junior OUTS: Wonna, Maric, Bail Not because they played bad but because in the balance of the team they are not in the best 22 at the moment. Saying that I know Bailey likes to give everyone a couple of weeks so thinking we might see some general soreness. But so glad we are playing on a Sat instead of a Sun so we actually have to name a team - not a squad.
  13. Wow the swans supporters really let each other and the team have it. And I thought we were bad at times.
  14. Just on the Melbourne chat with Matt: Hi Nathan, I reckon Jack Fitzpatrick will be a key forward long-term and will play as a second ruckman. He is very quick off the mark and at 200cm he could be a very dangerous target up forward long-term.
  15. Looking at where Melbourne is heading and looking at the forward lines that we have but out in the VFL I think we are getting there. Watts (196), Pettard (185) and Jurrah (188) would be the basis of the fowardline - That is me being biased thinking Bate (192) wont continue to develop. Throw into that forwardline an aging Green (184), Davey (177) and Sylvia (186) you already have what could be a very formiddable forwardline. However, as this debate is about KPP lets look at Melbourne's options. I can understand that people are going to want a big tall forward (190+). This leaves us with Gawn, Fitzpatrick, PJ, Martin, Miller, Newton, Morton, Dunn and Bate. Fitzpatrick will not be able to be our number 1 ruckman in his own right. Gawn at 208 is too much of an advantage for us therefore Fitzpatrick will need to play a secondary role. He sees himself in this role: What type of player are you? Versatile, athletic, tall, key-position player (forward / back / ruck). and Casey have been using him pushing up forward. I believe that he will be our 2nd tower down forward and with his speed and height alongside Jack Watts we could have the makings of a very formidable forwardline. If he doesnt come up there are many but part players who can construct a forwardline.
  16. I am very proud of the melbourne fc at the moment. What a way to unite a club!
  17. I'm not sure if we will see the breakout game this year - just consistantly good solid games. I think he is playing wonderful football and what really impresses me is the time he seems to have when he gets the footy. That's not a learned behaviour it is a natural ability and he is one of a few players in the afl who has it. Looking forward to a big pre season and seeing him start 2011 off with a bang destroying Stratton in Round 1!
  18. Watts was better again this week - would have loved for him to kick the winning goal but he'll have pleanty more opportunities. He's better for the run - he wont get those sort of opportunities at Casey!
  19. I would really appriciate if people watched the game before making comment. Jones and Bartram are playing tagging roles and are playing the team role week in week out. Even though I am not a fan of Dunn he is doing the same thing. I think we played some really good footy in the second half this week and Gysberts, Trennes and McDonald will push for selection and you would be looking at swapping like for like for the balance of the team. I think the changes will have little to do with todays game and more to do with training and how the boys pull up after the flight back. But I understand the thread is about who's in for who so... In: Trengrove Out: Benell/Bail (played a great game but Trennes is better) I dont think Junior and Gys will get up
  20. Jurrah doesnt need to lead up the ground. If he can sit in the forward 50 most of the day things will happen - he's just that sort of player. That allows Watts to play up the ground more and Bate to lead from CHF.
  21. The word on Bail is that he should be coming back into the seniors asap - We’ll be tempted to rush him in, I think. Sylvia is a definate and I think the Melbourne structure looks better with Jurrah in. For me INS: Bail, Sylvia, Jurrah OUTS: Grimes, Spencer, Jetta Bailey usually gives the boys 2 games in a row so I'd expect Cheeney tobe given another go.
