Loving how young we were last night - great to see Bailey going with youth. Hows this for a stat: Drafted 2010 (3)- Howe, Nicholson, Evans 2009 (5)- Scully, Trengove, Gys, Gawn, Macdonald (pre-season) 2008 (6)- Watts, Strauss, Bennell, Jetta, Jurrah, McKenzie 14 of our 22 were drafted in the last 3 years. and just for those interested 2007 (2) - Morton, Martin 2006 (1) - Frawley 2005 (1) - Jones 2004 (1) - Maloney (Trade) 2003 (1) - Sylvia 2002 (1) - Rivers 1999 (1) - Green

This is a really good point. Not wanting to read anything into it all but it would be very un-introvert like for him to be on twitter, heading for tea every week and being overally social. Plus he still hangs out with high school mates which does eat into socialising time. Remember Trenners and Tappy are from SA.

Maybe it is a good idea blooding some more youngsters. Maybe we play Blease, Strauss, Cook, Howe and McDonald to see how they go. Cause Bate, Dunn, Newton, Jetta, Warnock are clearly not the future for the MFC. I'd like to win games too, but with the injuries we have maybe this is the perfect excuse.

Green - Lots of possesions Warnock - spoils, cant dispose Jones - great first half Watts - better each week Gysberts - looked outof it Bate - needs better deliviery Bennell - 'some' good things Frawley - still best defender Morton - needs a job Sylvia - definatly our best McKenzie - hes getting back Petterd - please see Bate Maric - down a little Moloney - misses Mark Jamar Jurrah - please see Petard Rivers - solid all night MacDonald - good 100th game Martin - good backup ruckman Jetta - slowley getting better Newton - GWS Nicholson - solid first game Evans - will be better

I didn't mind Benell this week. Think we give him another run. It's Bate/Newton I'm really worried about. Morton really needs to be given a job. Stanton?

I've been so looking forward to this thread so I can say In: Scully, Trengove Out: Morton, Jetta

It was wet. Plus our really good ball users are out. Can't we accept that we were beaten by a better team and we played alright. Nothing great, but ok under the circumstances.

Full time Casey Scorpions 21.8.134 Frankston 8.10.58 Interesting game for Casey. Clearly not a strong opponent but many players were their own worst enemy making silly mistakes. Backs: Warnock looked strong and if one of our talls go down he looks a good replacement. MacDonald looked good off the halfback but not good enough to put pressure on Tappy and Grimes. Midfield: Petterd made mistakes but he looked a class above. Ran well and pressured the ball carrier. Nicholson is my new favourite rookie. Great disposal, backs himself well. Jetta and Maric played really well but a few mistakes. Howe looked a really good sort. Forwards: This was meant to be the strong point but really didn’t look like it. Bate presented well and deserved some of his goals. Newton did ok and Fev is looked better as the game went on. Would have liked to see more out of our forwards but I think that was a coaching aspect. It seemed that players were rotated throughout the ground so no one was really aloud to dominate. A good coaching strategy considering the lack of opposition. Goals: Bate 6, Lawrence 3, Maric, Newton, Evans 2, Cook, Nicholson, Gent, Stockdale 1 Possessions: Bate 24, Maric 24, Jetta 22, Petterd 17, Nicholson ?, Howe 14, Newton 13

Three Quarter Time Casey Scorpions 14.6.90 Frankston 6.6.42 Once again they looked terrible and we took ‘somewhat’ advantage. We should have buried them and we couldn’t. Lack of delivery to the forward line and lack of pressure in the forward line. We tried to be too cute, look away handballs etc. Hoping they get a spray at 3 quarter time. The backmen looked strong, Warnock and Macdonald a level above. Spence is rucking really well, no Jamar yet but the tap outs are there. Petterd, Nicholson and Howe look great. Petterd should play next week for the Dees, my smokey is Howe. Forwards are a mystery. Bate has kicked 5 but he’s had good delivery and a lot of luck. Maric and Newton have looked alright but nothing extraordinary in that quarter. Blease picked up this quarter and looks more settled. Goals: Bate 5 Maric Newton 2 Gent Howe Lawrence Nicholson, Possesions: Maric 20, Bate 19, Jetta 18, Petterd 17, Nicholson 15, Howe 13, Newton 12

Fevola looking unhappy about the lack of delivery. No one is looking to kick it to him and when they do it has been a terrible kick.
-
Fully agree with you there Jaded. He does look like he will be a tallent in the future. Goals Bate Newton 2 Gent Howe Lawrence Maric Nicholson Possesions Jetta 14 Nicholson 14 Bate 10 Petterd 13 Howe 9

KC helps when I can be at work and still watch the game. Let us know what it looks like from boundryside!

Half Time Casey Scorpions 10.5.65 Frankston 5.3.33 Another really strong quarter from Casey but wasteful. The midfield looks really good. Petterd stepped up, Nicholson was strong again and some really nice work from Howe all over the ground. He really can take a great mark. Being mindful they look like they are playing against the Portsea Under 10’s, but a good week on the training track from Petterd and Newton (maybe Jetta) should see them in the mix for next week. Nicholson and Evans look good for mid-season upgrade (also a good downgrade target for dreamteam). Although wouldn’t be surprised if Howe comes in the next few weeks for a run. Guys like Warnock, Macdonald, Bate, Maric and Jetta all look good and will put pressure on spots as the year goes on. However, Blease, Cook and McDonald need a little longer.

Casey Scorpions 6.2.38 Frankston 3.1.19 Goals Bate 2 Gent Lawrence Newton Nicholson Q1 was a dominant performance by Casey but they faced some really good ball presure from Frankston. Gawn and Spencer have looked strong in the ruck but Spencer hasn't done as much around the ground. The forward structure has looked good, Newton and Bate presenting well. The backline has been strong but what I have really been impressed with is the midfield let by Nicholson, Jetta and to a lesser extent Joel Macdonald. Fev has supported the boys well and has given a contest but he hasnt been the focal point up forward. Jetta 8 possies, Nicholson 7 Maric 7 Newton 6 Bate 5

Petterd says he's 'good as gold' looks like hes going to come back on update as it happens

Dan Nicholson looking really good same with Jetta. Blease's fitness doesnt look up to AFL yet.

A few things. Every recruiter knew that Darling would do this, he is a ready made forward. The reason he went so low is he is a loose cannon and has a reputation of terrible off field behaviour. If you've noticed Melbourne drafts a certain breed of young men and Martin, like Darling definatly didnt fit into that category. Last year everyone was talking about Scully and Trengove, Martin was the 'other guy'. Now Scully is injured and Trengrove has no midfield around him and Martin has popped up. Let him have his fun. No one would have picked Martin at 2. No one. Not even Richmond. And for the other examples; Hurley, Fyfe, Hill. They have been good. Just like the 2001 draft of Montanga, Mitchell, Swan, Ablett, Ball, Judd and Hodge they are all good plyers. Will Tapscott be better than Fyfe - we dont know yet. Will Watts be better than Hurley - who knows. We took the players we believed will take us to a premiership and on their 'potential' and Under 18 form. Fyfe didnt fire but Tappy did. But I ask you this, is Hodge (who went no.1) that much better than Mitchell (who went n.35)? My point is these boys are only 2nd year players (Watts and Blease and in that category). We're going to have to give them one more before we call for their heads. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/breaking/6125234/teen-footy-star-caught-in-camp-romp/

First, Thats a bit harsh - at least they are getting a game. Look at Bate, Maric, Macdonald etc who cant hold a spot in the side. Morton needs time (and a new coach) to find his role in the side. To me he looks like an early days Goddard, not sure of where he fits in the game. We loose Sylvia we loose a big strength in the midfield. Dunn and Newton I have no problems with.

I thought there were a few positives 1) More practice for our backline (as if they havent had enough) 2) J Watts (covered) 3) C Garland starting to think he'll be on the mid year short list for All-Australian - really liked his step up this year. 4) Trengove being our best midfielder (but this is more an inditment on the others) 5) Only a few more weeks till Scully!
-
More practice for the backline, Also as a positive anyone in the best in Casey will have a game next week.
-
6. Garland 5. Watts 4. Trengove 3. Jones 2. Sylvia 1. Grimes

Watts has been great really enjoyed his intensity. Trennas has done some good things. Happy with Garls and Grimes but FAR OUT BAILEY COME UP WITH A NEW PLAN! WERE IN TROUBLE!
