Had a close look at the Brayshaw boys today and they did not disappoint. When the Bushrangers looked like they were going to charge through in the second, Andrew and Hamish were brought into the middle with Max King and Charlie Constable and the 4 of them just dominated and I think it was 6 or 7 unanswered goals. Just brutal around the stoppages. I thought that Hamish's endurance was an issue as the game wore on. Considering that Andrew (and Angus) can run for a long period of time, I thought it was odd that Hamish wasn't as strong in this area. Both really good decision makers, Andrew just gets into great positions, really good disposal. Can see why he is firming around that 10-20 mark. Hamish is interesting. Only 2 clubs wanted to see him at the draft combine (heard it was the Dees and the Saints but wasn't overly sold on the source). He's had a couple of blinders the last few weeks, today was very important when the game was there to be won. What was noticeable was that his teammates just looked for him. There were a couple of times where I couldn't understand why they'd kick it to him on a 2 on 1, but he'd either mark it or halve the contest and someone would help him mop up the ball. Was very impressed and would like to see him at the Dees next year as he has a tremendous upside.

114-88 Maynard being joined by Billy, Bugg, Keilty, Johnson and showing some depth. Kennedy showing he's worth a rookie spot somewhere in the afl. -

He did. His 17 year old teammates new how to kick it in his vacinity. Weid is killed by bad disposal. -

Long kicks, hitting targets, changed structure: Weid went up the ground, Keilty and Bugg deep, JKH on the ball, Billy in front of the ball instead of the wing, Johnson through the middle Also tackling. Also Morris is looking to hurt people now. -

The extra AFL players are helping but no one is helping Maynard. There are some nice things, Stretch has done some nice things, Weid presented well with some shocking entries. Keilty had defended manfully, Trenners has tried. Wagner tries but his disposal today is terrible. Kennedy, JKH, Bugg, Johnson, look done for the day. we are done. We look like it's the last quarter. -

Gus feels like he's been off for an age! @Drunkn167 tv said he's been tagged for 0 touches but haven't seen him on tv since the 10 minute mark -
Didnt make Eastern Rangers in his draft year (2014?) as he was too skinny. He dominated junior league in Coldstream, then back fracture in 2015, then knee in 2016. So really this is his first chance to show what he has got. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/localfooty/his-kicking-is-long-his-marking-his-strong-and-bayley-fritsch-is-one-of-the-vfls-best-prospects/news-story/f0eec01914d13ecf2064ca25ff9212fa

Foxfooty article on Stringer said there are whispers about Watts leaving. I've ignored this thread until now but just wondering if anyone has a source that it's even been hinted at?

@CHF Really balanced summary. Want to add what I can do this. Frost – Word is he wants to see what happens with Lever before committing. Agree. If Lever isnt there, sign for 3 years, if he is, then he is entitled to find another home where he can play week in week out. Vince – Will sign a year contract, like he will every year before he decides his time is up. Hulett – He has gotten better in the last 4 weeks and if he can put together a good finals series I see a rookie spot for him. Kennedy – Try and find a home for him. Too good not to be on a list somewhere. Hasnt worked at the Dees, maybe at Carlton. M.King – Agree with another 2. Trengove – Help him find another club because he deserves it if he wants it. Spencer – He has been offered a 1 year contract if he cannot find another home. I'm happy with that. Vandenberg – word is he is holding out on his contract and wants to test the waters. So if he does decide to stay it should be a 2 year without any worries. Expect him to go to somewhere he feels he can play AFL week in week out. ROOKIES Filipovic – sign on for another year for development White – Sadly I see him going and Hulett taking his spot. Maynard – Elevate to main list. Everything being equal and people finding better opportunities that leaves us with In: J. Smith, Maynard, Lever, 3 picks at the draft table (Andrew Brayshaw, Hamish Brayshaw, ???) Out: Lamumba, Kennedy, Trengove, Spencer, Vandenberg, Frost I think it could be a very quiet year for us come trade and draft week.

VFL 1st Qualifying Final - Williamstown v Casey Demons
Dee-licious replied to Drunkn167's topic in Melbourne Demons
How good is it that we have all 14 playing and hopefully White will be right for next week. I was interested in how many players we had in our grand final team last year who are playing first round of finals this year (thought others might to). 6 AFL players and 3 VFL players played both. 8 AFL new players playing now and 4 new VFL players 6 AFL players not playing (still Dees), 2 no longer Dees, 5 delisted, 1 VFL. So technically we have more VFL players playing now than we did last year, but honestly I'd probably take this years line up over last year. Makes me realise that we have gotten much better as a team. 2016 Grand Final to 2017 Qualifying Ins: (AFL) Wagner, Brayshaw, Maynard, JKH, Johnstone, Bugg, King, Stretch, (VFL) Gent, Gordon, Collis, Giobbi Outs: (AFL Dees) Garland, J Smith, T. Smith, Oliver, White, ANB, (AFL Non-Dees) Dunn, McInerney, (VFL) Scott, (Delisted) Newton, M Jones, Terlich, Michie, Grimes, Same: (AFL) Kennedy, Weiderman, Trengove, Hulett, Spencer, Keilty, (VFL) Munro, Ferreira, Hutchins, -
Whilst I understand the outrage and wanting to delist left right and centre, if you delist a player under contract you are paying that contract and another in 2018 - thus essentially making pick 111 the highest paid draftee. below are our out of contract players. Kennedy isn't one of them. OMac isn't either. I think we can all agree that Vince probably will be offered another contract no matter how we feel. Spencer has been told he'll get another year if he doesn't get an offer he likes elsewhere (Scoop McLure I believe). I think trade bait might be a better thread title than delisting as it'd be over very quickly Melbourne Player Status Aaron Vandenberg Bernie Vince Jack Trengove RFA Jake Spencer UFA Lachlan Filipovic Liam Hulett Mitch King

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Dee-licious replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Was the same guy (or gal). However does have some runs on the board, but then again so would I if I made 100 predictions a season. He is an insider, same as McClure, Barrett etc. so who knows what's going on but it does feel like Lever is gone and all the mail is he is heading to us bar Waldron. Plus with McGovern signing as predicted it just passes the sniff test No doubt that we'll be knee deep in it and here is hoping he is keen. -

Really good foot skills and has pace. He is not his brother, he doesn't find it like Gus does but a great kick and good acceleration out of a pack. Is what we need plain and simple. Hoping we pick him up. Right now draft range 10-20

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Dee-licious replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Couple of things here. 1. On the Mac Block thing - OMac dropped much further down the draft than anyone expected. Tom (and Oscar) thought that he wasnt going to come to the Dees once we used 40 on ANB as everyone was surprised Oscar fell so low. So Tom didnt say you have to draft Oscar or else and he isnt here because Oscar still is. They are independent men. 2. Frost is great, I like him, but Lever is an upgrade. OMac and TMac have been the 1 on 1 guys and OMac is the guy down there who understands the backline spacing. Frost has been the 2nd or 3rd tall for the last couple of years and that is his role. That is also Lever's role as well, and he is much better at it (sorry Sam). 3. We rated Lever 5th in the draft. (Heeney, Petracca, Brayshaw, McCartin, Lever). Lever was interviewing with us a lot coming up to the draft and he was the only other one in the conversation for picks 2 and 3. At one stage he thought that he'd end up at the Dees over McCartin. We know the injury dropped him a long way down the draft board and if you think about it right now, this kid was number 5 on our board. 2 years ago we had pick 4 for Clarry. Hypothetically, if Carlton came up and said for pick 4 you can have our pick 12 and our third key defender (Liam Jones?) we wouldnt have taken it. If the Crows are willing to hand over Lever for a first rounder and Frost, as much as I'd hate to loose Frost, I'd be asking where I could sign. -
@Unleash Hell it's a real tough one this time of year. Maybe Jackson Trengove wants to come over and he'd be best 25 so we'd need to find space. We'd be up to our eyeballs with Harley Balic from Freo as well considering we were keen 2 years ago in his draft year. Motlop will be shopping himself around as well. If players think we've got a shot at a flag and they think they can make best 22 their managers will be making a call which might put a spanner in our players plans.
-
I'm thinking it's match ups. I think that he will be floated in the Lever trade but if we don't get Lever I assume Frost will sign. Vince I can assume it'll just be a year extension until he feel he's done. Maybe might try to get 2 years considering Lewis. Kennedy I assume is on the trade block and best case rookie but I think Hullett more chance for a rookie lifeline. King will stay, I assume Flip will get another year. Id be more worried that AVB doesn't have a contract in front of him yet. White is the other one who would be worried.

Do yourself a favour and read the article. We knew when he was first drafted that ge was more than football. Glad to see he's kept it up.

My thoughts watching the game Watts - maybe we need to play him on the wing? Whenever he was on the ball he was outstanding when he was in the forward 50 he looked annoyed and disinterested at times. It is a wet game but when he was around the ball it looked dry. Just so clean with the ball and showed why he is far beyond this level. End of the game he went back to the backline and controlled the ball. 20 touches 12 marks. "If I get done for that..." Speaks so well and loves the tem. Bugg - Just got better as the game went on. He'll have a huge week for us next week in the 2's and hopefully with Salem will help us win in the first week of VFL (and AFL?) finals. The stats will come out and have no doubt it will have a heap of it. The thing it wont have is the 5 odd almost disposals in the first quarter which wont be counted. 24 touches and 12 tackles. 18 contested possessions. Weid - Some decent delivery and he would be in the conversation. He did everything we know he can. Kicked beautifully, led strongly at the ball and took some good marks, tackled hard, went missing. He looked like the most talented player on the field at times. Frost - above and beyond the level. He is so strong, reads the play well. Didnt take it on as much this game. He defended well, and showed a really good leaders game. He looked like a captain at times. Keilty - why did we ever play him forward? He was really strong in the air, read the ball really well. Needs better disposal to make me not want Lever. He is exactly what Dunn and Garland gave us last year. JKH - stats are going to be awesome but dont be fooled. He'll be unhappy with his polish. Really good application but didnt have the polish that he can have. In and around the contest but a lot of his tackles werent game saving. Buggs were. King - better as the game went on. killed in the first and looked better and better. Doing not enough around the ground but looks good in the ruck. Trenners - held really well after quarter time. Did some nice things in the last. Not his best game but it was a Grimes like game. Hulett - a couple of good goals, I'd like to see him on the rookie list as I think there is something there. We need to work out how to get him into the game more. Maynard - A little like Oliver. I could say that I didnt see him much with the ball but easily could have 20+ possies. He is going to get there, I just wish he was 19 not 25. He does look like he is a year away from being a good AFL player. He reminds me a lot of AVB and whilst they play different roles, they have a similar hunger for the contest.

JKH laid 18 tackles and had 16 touches. Not getting a recall but he's put in. We've got control now but we need to score (we just did from Scott). Bugg a sneaky for a finals recall. 2 games before AFL finals, will have put together a case by then.

Nothing in it at all. Running back with the flight, didnt hit his head. Free kick against. I dont know if it would have been a free kick let alone a report in the AFL. Commentators arent worried. You know that Mark of the Year by Reiwolt running back with the flight or basically any Brown mark.... yeah they shuold have been reported...

50m penalty...... I hate umpires. Its a good 50 too. kicking for goal. Weid on the line touches it over. I assume Weid has been sent back behidn the ball to keep us in it. Keitly stops yet another forward 50 entry. Maynard forward kick to Munroe and WATTS REPORTED
