  1. I was just looking to see if someone had picked that up before posting the same. Dead ringer!
  2. So has Jordie McKenzie! Surely he paid for that one the big Spencil!
  3. There's the B&F right there! Cheers.
  4. Rivers & Moloney? Edit: & Davey?
  5. In white board Weds, Bails is very strong about pointing out our 5 experienced leaders, how important they will be next year etc. The 5 included Bruce. Not sure if this carries weight but thought I'd throw it out there regarding this ongoing rumour.
  6. Unfortunately can't make it tonight as it should be a really interesting night. Would be nice to get some updates.
  7. I would take Mitch Brown to add to our defensive KP stock, only if something happened with Warnock. Warnock has played 50 games to Brown's 37 but Brown is 21 compared to Warnock being 26! That age difference for me is something that could work in our favour if done well, not that 26 is old by any means. IMO this has a nice feel about it if we did it right.
  8. Kinight is a lot more of a half forward flanker than a midfielder. I wouldn't have though Bail was being 'moulded' into Bartram's role at all. Just was given this role at times in Grimes absence. Bail is a flanker/winger like Knights. Big difference is Knights kicked 43 goals in 2009 as a half forward flanker. Bail will never get to that mark and I would not compare Knights with Bail. More thought that we could persist with a Bail type across half forward. We have Sylvia and hopefully a Tapscott to play this role also. Knights as a midfielder for us? I would hope that the potential midfield talent we have is better than Knights best. What are you giving to get a player such as this by the way? Would be interested to see who.
  9. Maybe you could keep us updated on any clubs that have a chat with him?
  10. There are just as many stats you could use for him also. Goal assists for one - I have a recurring vision as I write this of Stevie J centering the ball into the corridor, often. He is a match winner, nothing surer and deserves a spot IMO.
  11. Well said maurie. No doubt Trav could have got some more out of himself but 200 games is not easy, someone will have the stats for me at the ready but not many get to this mark. I loved watching Trav play despite the frustrations, loved his kicking. I think he gets a bit of a bum wrap for his time at Brissy. I think he has tried more than he ever did with us without maybe the 100% consistency of effort still. A great move by MFC to trade him when they did, the currency was still good and now I get to enjoy my new fav as a result, Jack Grimes. When he is out there anyway. Hope it's not the end for Trav, but if it is, well played Trap.
  12. Tend to agree with that, but considering the other gems (or potential gems) we have do we need to add a Knights into that mix?
  13. Good player. IMO Bail has the potential to be everything Knights is. Do we continue with Bail or start going for a Knights? I would stick with Bail right now considering many of the other midfield, half forward potential gems we have.
  14. My boys are 2 and 1 HT. Only have the 2 year old, occasionally the 1 year old with mum, come to Casey games at the moment to get them involved. My 2 year old calls every football team the Demons at the moment, which might be nice on GF day as I can use his mind altering tricks to convince myself I am watching Melbourne. Can't wait to take the 2 year old to the 'G next year if he is up for it, well he wont have much choice but to be up for it, but not looking forward to them falling in love with donut vans before the Dees!!
  15. Would be a very late selection IMO. Dean Galea was the main forward at Port kicking 46, not sure how many Cal kicked. Some likely types at Port that have been around. I am pretty sure Brett Deledio's brother is there. Very well run VFL club The Borough.
  16. http://www.afl.com.au/offseason/melbourne/melbourneseasonreview/tabid/15028/default.aspx MFC season review at 12pm today at afl.com
  17. He is or was a barometer, at least up until this season. But playing in our forward line, even including this year but more specifically the last 2 years would have been a hell of a time. Our good wins up until this year always seem to have Bater at the forefront of the better players. Correct me if I am wrong but I think he had a set back this pre-season and as has been pointed out above, he takes time to get going. Like a locomotive gathering steam! He is still a very important member of the squad.
  18. I think it was pure fluke B) I'm no IT expert but when I went through the video section at MFC site, there was an error message that came up rather than the bigpond video screen. Clicked on this and a box came up on my PC asking if I wanted to view through real player. I try it again now and it doesn't work. Long winded explanation of a pure fluke B) Hopefully it gets sorted, it was good viewing.
  19. I was able to bring up through Real Player. Very enjoyabe WBW with Bails. Goes through some of the objectives they had set for 2010 & the improvements to be made from 09. Improving points for/against, inside 50's for/against (exactly the same in 2010 as 09) , Qtrs won. We improved on both points for & against from 09 to 2010. Points for went from 77 to 85 which is not significant. Bails pointed about this was due in part to 18-19 players being played through the forward line. The points against improved from 104 to 89! Also talks about and lists players with few games on the whiteboard. Talks about how the FD look at players by games played rather than age and uses Jack Grimes (26) and Tom Scully (21) as an example. Goes into the need to be rolling games into them all together. Finally, also talks about the 5 leaders for next year, Bruce, Green, Davey, Rivers & Moloney. The leadership & experience they provide to the young guys.
  20. Watching Scully, JT & Gys on Melb TV. Nice 4 min interview with the boys.
  21. I don't think that is entirely correct. The actual 1st or 2nd test sees 6 weeks handed out as part of the punishment as well as a $5000 fine. This is suspended and not activated until the 3rd positive test. A 3rd positive test can lead to as much as a 12 week suspension. The 6 week suspension becomes active as does the fine. The AFL/tribunal can then decide how much of the 12 week ban from the 3rd test will be applied in addition to the 6. In Travis' case it was the 6 plus another 6. I agree 100% with what you say here though and the AFL are to be commended. Clearly this is working. There will always be people taking a chance with a 3 strike policy, hell some will do so even with the threat of 1 strike. The AFL are well aware by now of how quickly drugs can be out of one's system, give them a bit more credit that that but this has little to do with the number of strikes, you seem to be wanting improved testing? I'm all for that and I am sure the AFL as sports bodies are around the world, are looking at better testing procedures.
  22. Yep, great effort Jack and going to be a ripper. I was more focusing on how few games Col played to be so high. It highlights how he has turned it all around and become a very damaging player.
  23. I think people that want to term this a 'media' award and bring it down in any fashion are just a long way off the mark. Supporters should have every right to feel proud about one of 'their own' being awarded individual awards, many of these awards are presented to the individual but the entire side & football club gets recognition and should rightly feel as if they have contributed in some way. I enjoy this award and that the AFL get the parents involved, especially the mothers as it is almost a final handing over of 'their boy' into the care of said AFL club. The previous 16,17,18 years it is the parents sacrificing so much. Congratulations to Dan Hannebery. A deserving winner of this years award. This time a couple of years ago he was busy stocking up on eggs! Great debut years by Skull & JT. A couple of good posts above really highlight how good these two were, especially Scully's year. The fact that they are a year behind 1st & 3rd highlights exactly how good these two will be.
  24. Yes, same! A person sharing my office today just mentioned, 'how long is this going to go for, the 18 year olds must be bored to tears'. I told him that it was Brad/Chris Scott's mother and it's nice to get the mums involved on this occasion. He said he was ok with that but 'who is the boring sap doing the interviews'? Yep, hard to argue with that when Quartermain has a microphone in his hands!
