  1. Don't fire me up again re this dog's dinner of a 'support competition' for the biggest competition in the country. Bring it back to Victoria, and make up / drop to an even number of teams. The other states have secondary competitions so why should part time players in Victoria (plumbers, sparkies, tradies etc) have to travel interstate, sometimes on weekdays, to prop up a comp so that the interstate teams can play VFL teams? Nothing fair about the "draw" aka schedule, even worse than AFL, and limited opportunities due to byes for emerging / returning players to gain form and show their wares.
  2. JVR Frittata Petracca Pickett?
  3. And Mooney Valley is very close to 🛬💣… maybe there will be discarded syringes lying around still.
  4. BDA - sorry but you are being a bit naïve. AFL HQ have zero interest in fairness. Only in $$$$$
  5. Some of my mates seem to find golf bad for their mental health: on the other hand I just say stuff the score and relax and enjoy it. Though I cannot envisage Stephen May (who is according to himself MFC’s lowest handicap player around 6 I think) doing anything short of taking it very seriously. binman - stay away from mainstream media. There is a podcast that I can highly recommend that is often true and accurate, with absolutely no 🐂💩- Demonland I think is the name. Some of the presenters actually seem quite intelligent 🤗🙄❤️💙❤️💙
  6. My MFCSS nightmare envisaged Gillon coming out after the final siren and exhibiting Rule 199.7.3(c)(iii) that had only just been discovered stating that a team (other than Geelong, Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, Richmond or any franchise club) who fakes a sub forfeits the game - and goes on to present the cup to Footscray. 😱🤮 Yes, it will be difficult for JJ when Ollie returns. Woewoden could be the unlucky one. Cannot see any of the other mids being left out. Re Hibberd - can anyone else envisage Bowey being moved forward. to take Spargo's place? Great defensive skills and pressure, and a good kick at goal. Could be an ideal 'defensive forward'.
  7. The "wildcard round" could be a last ditch for 9 & 10, but it could disincentivise the battle for 8th. As it is if you finish 9th, bye bye season, as it should be. And 'resetting' after round 17 would, as we'll as being unfair for those who get to the top on their hard work R 1-17, making it 'easier' for 7-14 to get up further. Are the points gained to R 17 carrying forward, or is each sextet more or less reset? If, for example, 7th won all their R18 and beyond, and 6th playing harder teams won only a couple, would 7 leapfrog 6 or are the sextets quarantined? It would also be a nightmare for fans booking last minute travel and accommodation for interstate games - but I guess the big wigs will get there somehow, so what do HQ care? Inequitable as any schedule not having every team play each other twice remains, strictly held scheduling with the top teams from each year playing each other twice and the lower half once the following year would be as close to fair as possible. Sadly fairness is always a distant second to money at AFL HQ. Americanisation is here already - flashing lights, 'music' and other noise after goals has already hit us. Thankfully Geoff Eldesten's cheerleaders didn't last long.
  8. Thanks boss. I had thought for a minute that you were about to recommend that we all have a dry July - which came rather late as a piece of advice. 😀 Cheers 🍹 Clearly the data show that Premierships are not won in July. Do you have a similar table for September??
  9. joeboy - I too look forward to your weekly analysis. I don't always agree, but then I don't always agree with my wife, my children, the weather forecasters, “Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social enviroment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions." (Essay to Leo Baeck, 1953)” ― Albert Einstein
  10. The reference was Bowie forward to Spargo spot.
  11. WCW - my question was re Harry Petty. I suspect that your reply may have been re Frittata binman - no probs there. Surely if HP has been subbed out two weeks in a row with the same injury, aggravated, he would be best to sit it out this week.
  12. Rampe can concuss an opponent way off the ball - an accident. Bizarre. Swans still hoping for a finals place.
  13. Harry has been smashed in the chest / back two weeks in a row. And a foot earlier in the year. Hardly “smashed every game”. Calm down. Sure, probably needed and needs an extra week or so, but you make it sound like he is going into a long term care facility. WCW - has the actual injury been revealed publicly?
  14. Certainly is, old - but I agree heartily with dl4e sentiments re dealing with Bombers. I would hate to see him there. And I would prefer to keep him 100x over Harmes and Dunstall.
  15. Brett Moloney in the 186 debacle was a classic example of this. Can’t remember many since unless you put the “calculated risk” with CP5 in our most recent final in this group. Or Maysie in 2021 GF?
  16. How about 9v10, 11v12, 13v14 etc (or some variant of this 9 v 11, 10 v 12 etc) with the winner of each of these to get the higher draft pick - sort of anti tanking and an incentive to get up one final game for the season. It would fill in the weekend, and maybe maintain a bit of interest for the supporters of this who miss finals.
  17. Including Petty who was subbed with injury in two consecutive weeks? Hibberd said to be ready to roll - leave him at Casey? You may ask who for - Bowey to Spargo's role.
  18. The hypocrites, during the off season I think, said that gut punches were not to be tolerated - unless of course the assailant is named Dustin Martin in which case they will get a slap on the wrist with a wet lettuce. And I couldn't believe John Longmire saying that the case involving his player was an accident - he charged him and concussed him. FMD.
  19. As I recall the Beaumaris oval was designated to be exactly MCG dimensions. Some association with MCC / Vic cricket. I would love them to train there - nice and close to home.
  20. What an amazing come from behind performance Friday night. George - was our overrunning the Bears in the final quarter vindication of, or result of, our loading? Were we just so much fitter than they were to run out the whole game. Of course some in the MSM suggest that they just took it as a win and stepped off the accelerator, which I think is disrespectful to our performance. It will be interesting IF Fritta gets back this year; also TMcD. Where will they fit, and who wilt hey displace? I was very impressed with JVR's contributions, despite being goalless. His back up ruck work was very important and contributed at at least one goal. Can any of you envisage Bowey going to a HFF especially if Hibberd gets back - someone will need to vacate a defensive spot. IMVHO he could fill the Spargo role, +++. Good kick, good one on one and wins quite a lot of ball. Thoughts.
  21. Daniher milked it for all it was worth though probably was there - but the totally ignoring of the JVR one earlier was just appalling. Unfortunately goal of the year usually goes to some fluke / freak dribble from the boundary but for pure guts and determination and physical brute force JV was one of the best you will ever see.
  22. Mia culpa - when Melksham took that flyer on the wind (>> Kozzie running goal) I posted that he hadn't been sighted since his mis kicks in the first quarter.
  23. Maybe they didn't remember how to find the ground? Probably haven't been there since the building of the Werribee bypass.
  24. Smooth mover, quick and clean thinker and assessor of the flow of play ahead. Good disposal by hand and by foot. Accountable. What is there not to like? Salo, McVee, Rivers are a beautiful medium defensive combo - if Hibbo comes good could we release Judd, or Bowey further up the ground?
  25. Thanks binman. ANB gets labelled as a Goody favourite - if that means Goody loves the way he gets the ball, attacks the opponent and brings his team mates into the game, then no wonder he is a favourite. Wait for your final two paragraphs to lead to ANB maybe being replaced as this forum's kicking boy by Spargo.
