POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Were there a new record number of score reviews today? Annoying and pathetic. Perhaps they just need to revert to goal umpire's call, and the guys in the bunker can look all they like and if 100% certain it was wrong then stop play and recall it. After all it was done on the ANB goal v Carlton even though there was zero let alone 100% evidence that it was touched.

My 3 word player analysis V Footscray
Melbourne - great team effort.

Tasmanian AFL Team
If North or Hawthorn (or Saints) move there maybe ok - odd numbers just make the totally inequitable season scheduling even worse if possible. And all the comparisons with Geelong just reminds me of one more demand - frankly spending hundreds of millions on a stadium can wait, but FFS please AFL get one thing right. A proper sized and shaped ground ( NOT KP or SCG) with a stable surface right from the start.

NON-MFC: Round 01
Hopefully our goal kicking coach has moved over to the Mayflowers.

NON-MFC: Round 01
Ollie - the doomsayers would say both Melbourne and Colonwood are doomed. 🙄 SYD handles the G layout outstandingly last night. The AFL could have an all Saturday arvo round - the retro round.

NON-MFC: Round 01
Hopefully catches up with the Visy 💰mob from Royal Parade soon too.

Harrison Petty
Does he actually seem to want out or does the media (and the Crows) want him out? What has he actually said? Does anyone here actually KNOW something ?

NON-MFC: Round 01
Did the Visy paper bag$ arrive just in time?

Go and Get JUH
"Why are we not in the conversation for JUH?" And who says we are not? Does every club have to come out and give a press release whenever they are looking at an opposition player?

TRAINING: Monday 11th March 2024
Mmmm? I really cannot remember any wanting to pot McVee ... maybe I have a poor memory.

Which again raise the question of a talented ruckman being a specialist forward coach. We seem to have no leading patterns: all seem to congregate in a pack and hope for the best. dryness draining? Surely humidity is far more draining. If so why was he (#9) played without any preseason? Bewildering really. Is Hore fit and ready?

Delivering high in hope or low (like in the Blues practice game) with intent??

2024 Injury List
No doubt the AFL are making it up on the run - it is their way.

CASEY: Practice Match vs Port Melbourne
Fullearon has been down the pecking order (behind some fine players) at the Lions until now. Here should come his opportunity. We will learn what he has to offer soon enough. Let's all get behind him. GO DEES.

Jake Bowey to miss 8 weeks with broken collarbone
Jake will be sorely missed. Has he missed a game since his debut? Can’t recall any.

Sam Van Rooyen in for Ben Brown on LTI?
There is plenty around Names please.

And he's right about this.
“They simply have not improved their key forwards stock for five year whilst they’ve had the best list in the competition.” JVR may well become a very good (or better) key forward but in his second year at AFL level he cannot be expected to be a solo KPF. Yes blaming injuries may be seen as a cop out but every time last season we did seem to form a combination injury struck. I hope we can conjure up a support for JVR before any possible call of the west takes hold. And as for Dermie saying he doesn’t read the play well or know how to position as a KPF, can anyone answer why we have a ruckman as a forward coach? Maybe Dermie could put his hand up and become the messiah who converts our forward line into greatness.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Weideman also a lovely guy and has skills but Schache was IMO a like for like replacement. Not so much to protect directly but to divert opposition. A solo tall doesn’t work. “Tall” is another one. Could he bustle and contest marking against a mobile HF? Kicking low into the forward line worked well a week ago but Thursday they reverted to the bomb it long and high mantra. Why? Can’t they concentrate long enough?

CASEY: Practice Match vs Port Melbourne
JVR will be a very good KPF when he isn’t the only big body in the forward line. On Thursday he was double and triple teamed. Write him off at your peril. Yes, JUH would be great acquisition. Few would disagree. Can the deal get done?

… and before Hunter is back? Woewoden to HB perhaps. Snr started there as I recall.
