Lachie Hunter Loses Bid To Overturn 1 Week Suspension
monoccular replied to Monbon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well hopefully when he rolled he exorcised his curse. -
Kieren - great post and I agree with most of it. However this needs a tweak: “…..when did you, as a team, create success? When you had consistency & cohesion & trust. When you had the same 22 fellas running out to kick the sherrin,….” I think that “the same 22” may offer some stability but 2022 showed that basic the same 22 who got us the ultimate in 2021 has limited shelf life and a failure to renew cost us in 2022. That has been addressed this year, partly through necessity of injury and form collapses.

But were the closed for Gleeson’s magic 0.3 seconds, or more, or less. Not that he of limited mental capacity, Mr Christian (was he a Bounty descendent by the way?) even made Mr Gleeson consider this vital piece of information. -

Wouldn’t it be logical that whilst he had his eyes on the ball most of the time he would have had to glance at the kamikaze Rozee at least mementarily? And what rule says that one cannot glance to see what is coming? I seem to recall that Gleeson somehow in the JVR case seemed to determine that his eyes deviated from the ball for 0.3 seconds - what absolute cr@p from Gleeson. How can that even be determined let alone be against any rule in the book? Gleeson seems to be able to make things up on the fly - he is a lawyer I guess and that is what they do. And you are surprised that what many may believe is a corrupt arm of a corrupt organisation comes to corrupt decisions? Starts with the inept Christian who didn’t even asses the impact correctly - took a guess. -
Hunter the innocent bystander: kamikaze Rozee the assailant.

But the AFL "integrity of the game" mantra is that nobody has any idea of who is leading in the Downlow at any time - not even 2022 at a round or 3 before the finals. And Santa and the tooth fairy will be good to you if you behave. -
Interesting two multiple flag winning coaches, both of whom brought their teams up from the mire to sustained success coaching now struggling sides, leave in a matter of days. Is the fall from grace too much to manage??

Tassie Tigers rolls off the tongue. And we could take over Punt Road oval and facilities 🤗🤗

Winners never quit - quitters never win. -
Is this available in any other format? Won’t open for me. They will release what they want released when they want it released. Maybe playing games with Freo?

Actually, not wishing to be too pedantic - OK, I am 🙄 - he, like all of us, have three on each side. Maybe the scan showed no tear at all and he was just suffering from cramp? Doesn’t sound like he would be allowed to, or feel able to do, those exercises were there any tear at all.

He is neither impartial nor that bright. In the interests of what HQ love to refer to as “the integrity of the game ” (though I doubt there is much of that) it is time that every “incident” looked at by the MRO should have footage released and detailed reasoning given as to what decision making process (if any) he undertook. At least it should / could be educational to the playing group. PS won’t happen. -

It is just not the (I am one eyed by the way) anti MFC bias that I see, but even in neutral games we see certain teams always get the doubtful decision go their way. Be it conspiracy or just ineptitude it makes the game hard to watch. And as mentioned the biased scheduling and travelling schedules are there for the benefit of the “special clubs”. -

Sure, if he was tackled correctly, absolutely no problem with HTB. But he wasn’t and if there is any thought that the ball player must be prioritised rather than the vulture tackler then correct tackle must be the first KPI. -

The Sachse incident is exactly why I keep banging on about penalising a player who dives kamikaze like into a pack or another player. It will sadly happen again. The action needs to be vigorously discouraged and a free kick against (and certainly not a free for high contact) paid consistently would minimise this highly dangerous practice. Concussion is bad enough: paraplegia is immediately and permanently life changing, for everyone involved. -
Joel seemed to be in it early but had few possessions for his 3 goals. Was he deprived of opportunities or injured or unfit?
-
Do any of the armchair experts KNOW that he or anyone else actually knew that had anything other than cramp, at the time? Just asking. The game was on the line at the time and he was needed and presumably was thought to be ok by himself and those able to assess him on the spot.

Guys. Excited as always and looking forward to the podcast. I posted this in the Hunter reported thread and would like your opinions. It is a blight that players are allowed, indeed encouraged in a way, to put their heads and necks in jeopardy. Headlong into a pack or into another player should be penalised against the kamikaze player. “Remember Christian has been humiliated by Melbourne, who he already hates, so no way will Hunter not be suspended for an action entirely initiated by Rozee. I have mentioned before numerous times, players charging headlong into packs or other players need to be penalised themselves - if not there will be some poor bugger left paralysed and an “innocent bystander” forever condemned just for being there.” Second question related to our midfield. Few would question that we have at least a couple of elite midfielders, Tracc and Clarry wand others nearby Jack V and up and coming Sparrow. But does a group of elite midfielders make an elite midfield? What indeed is an elite midfield? Surely that would require generating meaningful clearances and or forward entries? Is our midfield, as a group rather tha as individuals, elite? Many thanks. PS. are we top 4 material at this stage? I maybe pessimistically (MFCSS) see us as 5-7

I guess now that the AFL in their infinite wisdom have decreed 4 umpires to be better than 3 (or 2 or 1) then they need 4 x 9 = 36 per weekend. Much harder to drop under performers. -

Well, dl4e, that is the one thing that they seem to be doing successfully. Had Christian bothered to have a decent freeze frame / ultraslowmo look at it he would have seen that Hunter had stopped and couldn't get out of Kamikaze Rozee's way. -
I stand corrected. Thanks.

DubDee - I am with you 100% on this. Last night there was so much zoom in that viewers had no idea about what was up the field and where anyone was aiming much of the time. Appalling. Is Terry Wallace back on air?

Langdon and BBB both. I very much doubt it. Regardless of one’s opinion on Hunters current form or contributions, “take the week and move on” is not what this is all about. Are you suggesting that someone carving up the competition, maybe known to be about to win a 2022 Downlow, is worth challenging, but someone maybe working their way up like 2022 Chandler, or someone down on form is totally expendable? 🙄😱😮 -
… but not since. What is the point of comparison? John Coleman was pretty handy before his injury but never got a kick after. Last week had zero to do with Disco’s effort : it was all about being mismatched by the match committee.

Yet what happens, if, sometime in the future a similar thing happens but the interchange steward and not the club got the count wrong?
