When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
monoccular replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
...by 187 points :-) -
In summary, it sounds as if they panicked under pressure. Not sure how that can be addressed: certainly not at training where the pressure is never really there. It is surely mental. A lack of belief probe;y reinforced by years of underperformance under pressure. I am sure there must be a solution somewhere - the Cats were after all rumoured to be about to sack Thompson after the first few rounds of 2007(?) then they buried the handbags and won the flag. Lets hope that the coaching panel as a combination can exorcise the Demons' demons.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The lack of (available) records on drug administration is what should have been the most damning evidence of lack of care and governance. By the way, has ASADA's appeal time lapsed yet? If so does WADA still have a week or so to act, should they chooses to do so? -
Like Jetta and Dunn the previous year, Tom has addressed his well known deficiencies over the off season and is a far better team player for it. He is not perfect - who is? All credit to him for learning and working hard.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Conveniently swept under the carpet, I suspect. Like AHPRA's investigation (not) of Bruce Reid's abrogation of his responsibilities to his patients over that to his employers NO AFL FOOTBALLER, nor any other sportsman, even drug free ones, should EVER be compared to war heroes. It sickens me to hear that announcer ?Craig Willis comparing them at the match. Just sickening. Bluey Truscott, Ron Barassi Sen, Keith Miller and so many others must be turning in their very correctly much revered graves. I find it impossible to watch any of the introductions to the match, nor the bloody "heroes" being presented with their medals "in the spirit of ANZAC". How demeaning. -
mmmmmm........not everyone will agree as you say, but maybe worthy of consideration depending upon match ups

Manuka and the ridiculously biased ground announcer.
monoccular replied to camillo's topic in Melbourne Demons
WTH do we need "ground announcers" at all. This is Aussie Rules not bloody gridiron, baseball, basketball or ice hockey. It was all a part of Vlad's love affair with American sports. Give us a bit of peace to talk with mates and the crowd. -
Well, maybe, if he is rushed back after a genuine concussion it could actually be in our favor
-
Frawley says hi Jeremy??
-
Whatever, a lot more dash than our midfield
-
I may have mentioned before but I was hoping to hear the there was gastro or food poisoning or flu in the camp Sadly according to the coach it was the usual lack of effort and or poor coaching
-
You beat me to it. Of course with Ball on the tribunal Collingwood will get an even better deal than usual. The whole AFL hierarchy have a smell of corruption about them, especially when it comes to the "marquee clubs"!

Are we seeing Geelongs culture crumbling?
monoccular replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
those of us with really really long memories at least have the joy of 1954-64 to reminisce in. Now THAT was a winning culture. -
JKH very stiff to have been dropped - missed his pace and vision Fitzy could equally be a big target up forward and relieve in the ruck > Dawes

Looking for ride/passenger to Canberra will share costs
monoccular replied to special robert's topic in Melbourne Demons
You were looking for passengers - sounds as if most of the team obliged. -
No need to sledge him for his "mental illness " - sledging him for his lies and duplicity would do nicely.
-
OMG the guy has hardly had a bad game in several years. Give him a break.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES

And the pijcks still get the ANZAC game...I will puke if / when these guys are put forward as "heroes " on that day. Absolutely puke. -
AFL - Round 2 (non MFC Games)
monoccular replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ah.... the marvels of modern pharmacology -
That was superb. Absolutely perfect timing and commitment.

I am just hoping to hear that there was some food poisoning, gastro or 'flu going around. That could provide the only possible explanation for the fade out, other than laziness and / or complacency after a good start. Sadly I suspect the latter. And for those who are bagging Nathan Jones - the poor bugger has carried the midfield for years. He can be allowed one occasional downer. Pity the others didn't / couldn't / would't stand up. Is Howe doing a Frawley? Didn't see the game at all (thank my lucky stars) but by all accounts he showed as much interest as Frawley did last season. If we find alternatives, which we couldn't last year with JF, then IMO Roos should tell him, sign up or play Casey. Its not as if we are finals bound, despite some of us sentimentalists just starting to dream a little after round 1. We are still developing and need to work on building a line up for the next few years. If he won't commit, why should we retard another's development?

Frawley syndrome ?
