though we have had one player choosing not to play vs the reigning premiers.

Much as I am enjoying Carlton's struggles, perhaps schadenfreude is a bit premature - bring it on if/when we beat them, and more so if we can for the first time in years string together some wins.

Great post. Welcome. As another poster has said, maybe this is part of a three year plan. Let's hope so.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 8
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fitzpatrick, Watts, Gawn, Riley, Newton, Hogan in for Dawes, Michie, Salem. Fitz and Newton are certainly surprises since they have been under injury clouds Dawes out - I must say I am surprised (but not necessarily disappointed) Fitz, Gawn - going tall to stretch the Dogs? -
Pink Floyd 'Poles Apart' could have been written especially for Jimmy: "Did you know, it was all going to go so wrong for you .... Why did we tell you then You were always the golden boy then .... Hey you, did you ever realize what you'd become And did you see that it wasn't only me you were running from Did you know all the time but it never bothered you anyway Leading the blind..........." And, by the way...any word from WorkCover? Any statute of limitations there? Maybe waiting for the CAS result. Can they use evidence produced in other jurisdictions?

Play Jeremy Howe as a forward
monoccular replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Let's cut to the chase. He has lost interest. The only question remains is - is it Sydney, Hawthorn, Collingwood etc who has him wrapped for 2016? Of course AFL, that honorable integrity filled body, would say that this cannot be done so early....but the record speaks. -
Yet consider the armchair critics joy were he to 'come back early' and miss more footy. 'Haven't a clue", "more mismanagement like Hogan 2013" etc etc. Get him right, then play him. Only if you are vying for finals, or for top 4 or 2, and have a full team around them, and depth, none of which applies to us, should this be considered.
-
It would be fascinating to know - were these just two random tests or were more at Collingwood tested at the same time? Or at around the same time?
-
He always finds the culprit. He has had a positive test: Saad got, what, 2y. Crowley is guilty , has been unbelievably stupid, and surely cannot expect one minute less. Where the hell did he get the stuff? Total brain fade, or, deliberate flouting of the law. Wow. WADA are getting really serious. Do EssUndone read the news (other than that which flatters / excuses them)? This guy is the #1 prosecutor and would not have taken on a dud case. Can't wait.

Not sure which I would prefer- Hird presser after a guilty verdict with life ban, or Roos presser after consecutive MFC victories. Not sure which is more likely either.
-
Lane's article raised a point that has hardly been mentioned before in this whole sordid tale. The rights of EssUndone's opponents to be able to fairly compete against possibly enhanced opposition. The Bummer fans cry "unfair". Did they cry "unfair" when Oz swimmers couldn't keep up with their Chinese competitors. I bet they did. When our gymnasts fell short of those from the Soviet Bloc?? I bet they did.
-
Yes, he has been extremely disappointing. But, at the time, almost all the "experts" rated Toump > Wines. Such is the inexactitude of drafting prospectively. Retrospectively is much easier. Hawthorn did ok from their tanking, and it turned out that Roughy and Frankenstein turned out ok Collingwood got a flag as well. as mentioned above, JT was almost universally rated highly...seemed to have good pace at the time.
-
Four players, two or three developing talks, inherited by Roos - of course it is all his fault. Do you think Roos should be sacked ? Replaced by whom?? And please define schweler - couldn't find it in any dictionary or on line.
-
Can anyone comment on ANB? Nothing inspiring in the listed better players after the senior's drubbing.

Hard to get games into players who are out injured. But I do get your gist. -
So like Frawley last year, doesn't even show the self pride to disguise it.
-
Sadly our lack of depth (and injuries to many of our best 22 - no excuse for the depths of insipidness today) will prevent as many changes as their should be.
-
Roos isn't out there disgracing himself though lack of effort. I do feel for poor Tom McDonald. He was hurting badly last week, and gets the brunt of our lack of midfield. Without him we would be looking at 187.
-
Can't spell. Wadayoo mean ducked.
-
Dawes 2 marks. Spencer nil. Just not enough return from our big men.
-
Great mark [P], great tackle Garlett. Pity neither could kick straight. :-(((((
-
FFS he can only play where he is selected. How about a "well done" instead of constant negativity. How many goals have YOU kicked at VFL level? How about - he has to start somewhere. Bloody hell !!!
-
Nobody seems able to kick any distance in the forward line
-
Anyone think this club ain't cursed.Of course we have so much depth in skilled running defenders that Salem's injury won't hurt us at all. That is nearly half our best 22 out this week, and for a struggling team with little depth that will always devastate.
