MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mr Roos and players. Sunday is a huge opportunity to make a statement. A line in the sand moment. Absolutely no excuse will be accepted. Dare I say it is essentially a club defining game. This ground hoodoo must stop this weekend. No excuses. -
I will be interested to hear from KC and others how much time King plays ruck vs how much Jamar does. And of course how he acquits himself at a higher level. If he gets more time than Jamer it may be a message to Mark that he is on the way out - if that message hasn't been sent already.
-
Is there any truth to the suggestions that he does smoke? If so he needs a rocket where the sun don't shine - an ultimatum in effect. Set him some really thought fitness / endurance KPIs, and get whatever help that is available to help him quit. Possibly. Probably. But if that is that right thing for the progress of the list then make the tough decision.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11

Perhaps we are being proactive for a change instead of reactive - playing one more tall than them, and stretching them, rather than waiting to see what they do and follow. Just saying. -
OMG The curse continues
-
Another gift goal that seems to have escaped scrutiny was when O'Brien turned his back on play after Elliott took a contested mark and then ran straight past him to goal. Early in the second I think.
-
Pedersen wasn't in the poll, which may have set the theme for the whole thread He is a decent fill in, as he is a decent fill in tall forward / defender. Max to me looks a more classic tap ruckman who Dan also play forward. Directs his taps far better that MJ or JS Spencer on the other hand really impressed vs Footscray with his second and third efforts after the ball up....not with much finesse mind you but with a bit of welcome brutality. Jamar get a lot of tap stats, but so few of them result in clearances. Does anyone have access to the stats - hit outs to advantage or hit outs resulting in clearances?
-
Possibly one glimmer of good news - Viney not on that list Looks a pretty decent 22 - dream that they may all get on the park together
-
If he had fisted it and not used open hands (x2) would probably have been okay
-
I hope that you are not suggesting that TM and JH heads became swollen by the media accolades. Maybe that has brought more opposition attention and homework on them. Or, maybe, they just had an off day; someone that happens to every player. Saints run two ruck men resting one up forward.

Dawes to do what exactly?
-
FCS What positives has Dawes done this year, seriously? He needs a week or more at Casey to at least prove that he can run out a game, and do something creative.
-
He was undoubtedly a great player but a few things let him down as a person. The lack of leadership on the boat issue when he first joined the Cheaters was pretty poor for a captain. And then there were the pressure point, the eye gouging and the chicken wing incidents. And his very disparaging comments on MFC's play for him to me DQs him from a rôle at our club.
-
Thanks for all that, DD 21 second half possessions - does that suggest a decent tank, or just a better one than VFL average? Would it suggest a sub rôle when he debuts? Have never seen him but I suspect that I may in the next month or so. Go Dees.

I guess 187 would be too much to expect

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 10

Do you really think that the guys don't know until the team list are released if they are playing or not? -
Can anyone here remember when we last won three, or even two in a row. Matches that is. (I can remember two and three flags in a row.)
-
I thought that he had done it during his playing days. Didn't he need surgery for it which would suggest it was off the bone that time too. Depending on the timing and whether it needs surgery he still may be coaching Monday. In fact it may have been prior to a game v Melbourne and we heard the usual "hooray, we will romp it in" though I don't think we did.
-
And if our guy had grabbed the one on one (can't remember who it was) and ran on to goal it would have been a stroke of genius. IIRC he did something similar the previous week, successfully, and was lauded for it. Such a fine margin between success and failure. And of course far easier in retrospect
-
I suppose that it is better than that classic head in the sand, Neville Chamberlain.
-
At risk of sounding like a cracked record, really I think everyone should read the Helsinki convention on human experimentation At its core it requires that records must be kept and that these records should be peer reviewed (all aside from risk / benefit etc) This certainly does not seem to have happened On face value they have breached an important international convention Why has nobody, especially "impartial" journalists, not pursued this line Criminal failure
-
Maybe this thread should be locked It seems to have come down to "I and not racist". "Yes you are" Pointless exercise
-
I would be very happy - please name names
-
We should not be reliant on 3 first year players, -- but we are we have enough talent in the team to be competitive -- really? Seriously? Lack of talent and depth of talent particularly in the midfield are our principal problems IMVHO

Many of them do
