Give it time ET. Someone on this website will dream up a scenario

On SEN Today the following question was raised
Demon17 replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fully agree especially given their 4 year age difference. We will retain Max for longer with Preuss taking more work . The 'stynes/O'dwyer' thing back in late 80's was a paradigm shift at that time. -
Not so fast. 1998 we make the prelim after the 97 wooden spoon. Then we finish bottom 3 in 99 with only 6 wins. With arguably a better list than we have available now. This has all happened before. IMO the 2018 list has always been overrated and they played out of their skins for the last 5 weeks of the season only. Still building I agree with all your other sentiments though PD

Nice one.

Was at the game. Team was out on its feet. Kudos to getting over the line. Oliver was nothing short of heroic
-
Jones. You're joking. Dunkley. Some good things under pressure May. Saved the game. Petty. Shows potential Frost. Starting 22 in 2020 Neal bullen. B grade Viney. Not a thinking footballer Oliver. Leadership in spades
-
This is a difference between us and .say, the Hawks. No sentimentality over there. Would clearly be respectfully retired by Hawks at end of this season. As Goody should. Slower reflexes, fumbly....... The end comes to all of us, but what's in the best interests of team development trumps other angles. IMO More games needed into Hore, Lockhart, Sparrow, Dunkley, Baker, Wagners, Petty......as the priority.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Demon17 replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not in the final 15 minutes though when i thought he provided a calmness down back with good disposal -
It's got to be someone applying constant physical pressure and touch. Salem would be a sacrifice too far. Setting wagner the task and sacrificing own game might work.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

Great post. The team has a good kick now down there and the keys to a finals standard defence with lever and future 10 year player hore. I see May as a walk up to leadership group in 2020. Fitting that he had the ball today at final siren time -
Sadly you may be right. I don't think jack can solve his right side issues whereas as Brayshaw can improve his weaknesses, and his performance alone in the finals has to count for something (think 3rd 1/4 Vs hawks.)
-
Another sensible and smart left field post. Could just be the solution.
-
good option and sets Lever up to take role when Max retires in the distant future. Lever was seen as potential skipper at Crows which was one reason they were upset he left.
-
Big test coming up for the club and for jack Viney's selflessness (or not) to not seek the role in 2020 to focus on form Max seems an obvious choice for his professionalism to preparation alone but might be a burden he doesn't need. Jake lever anyone?
-
Was at the game. Great summary nasher. But Viney's lack of a right foot is now a huge issue. All clubs know this.
-
Yes. Today will be another underwhelming output. Might win the odd one on one and maybe a cameo but thats about it.
-
Good question. No point trac practising when his ball drop/technique is fundamentally flawed.
-
But I loved watching him play faults and all. He set the club up as a destination by his recruitment to us. Exactly what the club needed at the time. Really hope he stays .

And broke his Jaw

Excellent last paragraph LG. I optimistically agree with david king who said this week melbourne 's run at the 2020 flag starts now with planning and getting healthy list in place. Your point on whay we have found in new talent can only improve 2020 prpspects.
-
Great post. He was in tears after the game. Don't tell me this won't help make him a better player.
-
The ball plays as if wet due to the humidity. My Darwin background. Viney said at half time the ball was a cake of soap. Sounds strange but the moisture in the air is incredible. I was worried at half time Oliver would go off the boil in the second half after his heroic efforts in second 1/4 in these conditions.
-
Great call LG. Garlett's easy miss in the game's first minute was deplorable and a scene setter. Those types of misses should be under the microscope big time. Not Weid's shot with a wet ball and hardly surprising at that time of night. He will learn. And while I'm at it, when I see Petracca with an improved technique , then I'll believe the coaching/development team are doing their job. Until then, Trac gets away with murder for a professional sportsman.

16 possessions in the 2nd quarter might have finished him in the humidity. ???
