61% is where i had it, if that includes the 23rd man that said the only time Casey looked any good was when it was in a melbourne listed players hands, whilst they also turned the ball over at times, the only reason they did not lose by 150 points is the melbourne players. Terlich not playing kinda makes me feel like there will be a late change
-
Whilst some if the Melbourne players do turn the football over, the 15 or so casey players are very lucky to be playing at vfl level, I think se of those players look like they would struggle to make some of the good metro leagues.

It's on abcNo wonder the afl umpires have no idea, the development umpires have shown today that there is no pressure on any of them, these guys are awful

il tell you that living in essendon means that i hate essendon supporters with a passion and for the most part i hate most other teams opinions on the melbourne football club and players involved. but i also hate listening to people that i sit near at melbourne home games constantly berrate watts, dunn, bail and multiple other players. so i guess its all teams that said, nothing sweeter than beating essendon and being able to win by 1 point when they hammered us by 148 last time is so sweet. this match also reaffirmed to me how good essendons midfield is but the lack of players who standout in defense and up forward is why the team is struggling (much the same as richmond)
-
i dont agree with people saying he struggled in a full game, in his full game against port adelaide i thought he was very good, and stiff to not get the rising star nomination with 2.2 but multiple other score involvements, on top of 16 touches. i agree he didnt play great against collingwood but not many did and JKH struggled coming on as the sub, which i think a bit of fatigue got to him. that said the first point i agree with, i had no doubt he would kick it, there are few in our team who i would have preferred to have the ball in hand, but he immediately looked calm and that was a great sign.

i dont think there will necessarily be any changes, although i could see terlich coming into the side to play as a small defender due to the small option that are the make up of the north melbourne fwd line. Out: Riley in: Terlich that said i could understand if riley stays in the side aswell, Big week four our backline, often it is the smaller forwards and mids that kick goals on us, harvey, bastinac, thomas, nahas and leigh adams can all kick goals, so hopefully we can stop this.

does VFL suspension count? would that be the same for the brownlow?

I think we really missed Clint Bartram last year and whilst terlich and clisby were able to find the footy, they often got caught out by their opponents. This year terlich has been much better defensively, but not surprisingly his offensive output has been down, but i still thought he was going okay. Nev has always had the hardness and mental attitude, just been cruelled by injuries and admittedly i thought he would never be able to get onto the track, that said i am stoked he is and is playing his role consistently well. i think he has shed a few kilos and looks to be moving alot better than ever before. My favourite thing he does is feed the handball and then look for contact on the sheppherd allowing team mates to have that extra time to dispose of the football!
-
didnt he play 15 games last year, so i think that means he is not available
-
was going to say this exactly

I think he usually protects the space pretty well, it's just the ball isn't often kicked well to him. He is a genuinely good kick and knows it, which is good to see him getting confident. Only mistake was that he lost his feet, that said he competed well in most marking contests.
-
yes, but he should be pushed out of the side by someone like riley he does so many good things but continually butchers the football week in week out

North Ballarat v Casey Scorpions

I don't agree. There is a heavy benefit for the casey are and also for their football side. Lots of the funding for their team is Melbourne driven. They would fall into obsurity without the MFC -
whilst Tom Mcdonald will have one or two Tom McDonald moments a game, i still feel that he is one of the most promising young defenders in the league. I dont agree with the initial statement that his positioning is wrong, because most of the time he is in the right spot and of course the ball is going to be kicked generally to the advantage side of the opposition. Whilst i noticed that Dawes often had forced Frost to the wrong side when they were in marking contests and was left stranded by the kick to him. secondly, i cant really remember him having a bag of goals kicked on him this year, with Westhoff probably being the most influential opponent he played on and for the most part of the day Mcdonald beat him. his improvement in the last 2-3 years has been immense, still at times needs to make a decision a bit quicker, but i think it is now something that is told to him by the coaches that run and draw opponents and then get rid of the football, and it leads to him getting tackled and disposing of the ball. i think this is due to his poor field kicking and most teams seemed to lag off him and let him kick the footy last year.

I thought after a night to sleep it off you might actually realise that goals kicked isn't necessarily an indication of how well we played. -We kept a top 4 side to 61 points. -the fact that we had 2 goals in the third (Dawes 50/bernie vince) unallowed took a lot of spice out of the contest. Especially because the Dawes one went down and goldsack kicked a goal. -til 3/4 they only kicked 5 goals and if our 2 goals went through it would have been a different scoreline. -sure we don't go into a match to kick 3 goals but general play around the ground we did not get beat. -probably ran out of legs due to the NT game. -we prevented 85% of the run from collingwood and locked them down very well. -the result could have been changed from 3-5 moments rather than 100s of aspects like last year. The only thing we did really badly was a couple skill error executions, jetta and viney each made one when we could have kicked goals. But at the end of the day this style of football is great, we are harder and harder to beat. Sure we came up against a side that defended equally well, but they are a finals threat and we are not yet. P.S. We are going to play defensive football for a long time to come, so I think you might want to support a team that will not be playing this style because ultimately we will not be a massive scoring team
-
Collingwood defended well. Melbourne lacked a serious goal threat. We still controlled lots of the game and our defence was very good, this style of play will win games and does hold up in September (eventually/hopefully). 3/4 of football and it was very very close, I think we ran a little out of legs which happens after the Alice springs games, that said 3 goals is not the desired result. But am happy with how the boys played for our biggest crowd/game of the year.
-
I like seeing Melbourne control the football well. If we scored more goals but allowed them to dominate us on the turn over would that be better? This style of football will translate into winning games eventually and is leading us to be significantly more competitive
-
Thoroughly enjoyed melbournes play, I like that we hold the football. Skill execution by players stopped it from being a much closer game, that said it shows melbournes improvement again. The forwards needed to not slow down when running at the football, this allowed a few spoils. Salem probably needs a rest.

It would be great to get him for a 3rd round pick, but at the end of the day we will probably get him with our second pick in the draft I think. He is going to be a player and is in the mould of a few of the hawthorn players. Can't wait to see his beep test results in the combine
